At this time, she was getting the reputation as a "no show" for engagements--hence Peter's intro. Eerily, only 3 months later, she would be found dead in her flat-- and this clip has been run my media outlets on her birthday and the day she died nearly each year, since 1962. Sad, yes...but staying power.

James Naughty on this morning's BBC Radio 4 Today Programme discussed Marilyn Monroe's dress and performance that night in 1962. He spoke as if it were yesterday, and a yesterday that shone with such promise.

I was left wondering who could sing for Mr Cameron's birthday like that? Maybe it's not possible now. Or what about Bruce Forsyth introducing Tess Daley to Prince William at The Royal Variety Show in such a way?

Maybe these things are best left in the Black & White Cold War past.

That "creepy vibe" was substance abuse and her obsession for him after their weekend affair in palm springs.

Also Marilyn was a very psychologically scared girl from her childhood and how she had been treated, so when John F. Kennedy slept with her and didn't return the vulnerable girls calls that made her obsess over him
