  • A stage full of music gods.

  • Looking at these heroes of my youth I don't feel so old anymore.... peace, everyone. Love each other...

  • Haw Ya dewinn!?

  • great song great Vocals.. From the legends of Rock

  • What a time in music we can still live in and enjoy.

  • How can anyone not love this! So much feeling! I cant go a day without listenin to this mans music!

  • Having Crosby, Stills and Nash singing backup says volumes about the respect that must exist between these musicians, and that Jackson Browne has certainly "made it"!!

  • Browne plus CSN...Simply AWESOME!!

  • casi nada!!

  • Pure Class

  • You just can't get any better than this!! Jackson Browne and CSN...OMG!! Brings back a flood of memories. I've seen both, Including CSN&Y during my long time love affair with music, and they just don't make them like they used to.....Long Live R&R <3

  • I got to see this in the 70;s it was so cool..got to see CSN to..man it rocked!!!

  • Jackson Browne or Dorian Grey? Great Song, real poetry.

Anyone remember when he did this on SNL and "get it up again" got past the censors?

  • Hearing Jackson singing this song with the way it captures the heartbreak of the broken promise of one whose dreams have been allowed to be crushed, gives me the chills. It is an amazing insight into the illusion of American culture at times, and its affect on the human spirit. I don't believe anyone writes with the insight and depth about the human experience that Jackson does. What a gift. May he continue indefinitely.

  • @dannyk1951 Very well said and so very true!

  • As heart-warming and dedicated as ever. May Jackson live forever!

  • Wow, I honestly believe this is the way music should be - full of soul, sung by artists with soul and grace + with a true connection to the human spirit.

  • One of the Greatest EVER! Music meant something here folks.....

  • Jackson Browne just gets better and better with age!!!!!!

  • perfection...

  • I've heard people say that nobody writes songs like this anymore. That's not true. They do write good, intelligent songs. Problem is, the RECORD COMPANIES won't release them

  • @airdriver Yes it is true those company's hold a lot of power, but nowadays ppl can load their songs up You Tube, and there are so many small record company's that will give an unknown composer a chance, so there are realy opportunity's to show themselves.....

  • @dgswilson Yep, him & Springsteen nailed it...

  • @MrWoof86 As Alice Cooper said upon induction into the R&R Hall of Fame: "I hope I never outgrow a Pete Townsend Windmill Chord or a Jeff Beck Lead Guitar"

  • Is it me or does that opening guitar sound exactly like Sloop John B (Beach Boys)

  • I was lucky enough to interview Jackson Browne after his Kuranda Amphitheatre concert in Cairns six years ago; I've never met a more polite, laid back and personable musician. He is an absolute gentleman.

  • love.

  • @MrWoof86 Well said...from this 59 year old hippie girl!

  • I've seen him perform this song many times over the years & have heard it countless times on the radio ('back in the day') & on CD, but never grow tired of hearing it again!

  • Amen, may the music keep the spirit high!!!

  • different class!!!

  • Jackson Browne, you are my God.

  • Wow. Soooo good. This is what seasoned veterans sound like, children.

I hope those 2 dislikes seek counseling.

  • @ramitupursnout Right on brother!!!!

  • when Crosby and Nash start singing at the end it gives me goosebumps every time. Great tune!

  • thats the best

  • Great ! Some of the finest musicians on one stage.

  • Thanks for loading this!!!!!

    D. Canada

  • wow what a great tune.

  • Wow! Just Wow!

  • I've met Nash ,Crosby,& Browne! ( I'm not bragging, just fortunate!)

  • Jackson is still a fox..

  • how does Rebecca Black have more views than THIS?

  • thank you for posting this..i truly love JB..his lyrics are autobiographical, and so meaningful. he's also easy on the eyes. he was always my musical favorite!!!!!

  • Why isn't Nash wearing any shoes

  • @feyenoordole5 because he's a hippy! - love it!

  • LOVE THIS!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you for the great post...cant tell you how much this song means to me..and to the late love of my life..:-)

  • It makes me feel good that they are aging too.. I will be 50 in May and I don't know how or when it happened but it is definitely a trip!

  • incredibilmente bella

  • It doesn't get much better than this...

  • What can you say about four of the world's best singer/songriters callaborating on one of the all-time great songs? Just one thing, I guess; Perfection!

  • WOW Amazing.... this is going into my ipod right now!

  • Twiylight years. These guys are not going to be with us much longer. Then what? We need a revoluton in music.

  • @MrDavis746 i agree with you the most rockers are in there 50 ore more so....

  • Jackson Browne has the best body there.. he's pretty foxy for his age..

  • I am doing good.. he still looks so good.

  • to the two people who disliked this..,the next time you have a thought ,LET IT GO!!!

  • These guys pull this one off like they'd been rehearsing the tune together for six months or more. Says a lot about the musicianship of all involved. Great job.

  • Gosh, this brings back so many memories from back in the day. I love Jackson Browne's music. He's a great singer/songwriter...this was a GREAT performance. He's like a fine wine ........ !!!!!!

  • Neil who?

  • WOW!! Excellent!! Thanks once again Rosa for sharing.

  • This clip will go down as one of the all time musical arrragements ever recorded live.

Thanks for sharing What a classic!

  • RU frikken kidding me? Graham Nash and David Crosby singing backup with Steven Stills on guitar? Playing the Pretender? OMFG!!!! This totally rocks my world! • A-MA-ZING!!! Love Jackson Browne!! still sounds great!!

  • A-MA-ZING!!!

  • Thanks for uploading this. I've sent it to my mid-twenties children, so they can listen to it the first Monday morning of 2011..... Great song, great version.

  • What can you say except 'Utter perfection'?

..and two cloth-eared dickwits don't like it? Must be Bieber lovers.

  • This is real music, .....good stuff. If any ear does not like this, sorry, something is just wrong with their wires in their head.

  • Great arragement ! It's just beautiful to hear this voices together.

  • its not t.v. its HBO

  • let;'s just admire them all for their musical ability. what they do/did in their own personal lives isn't our business, especially because almost every rumor about everything isn't true or simply springs from jealousy that other musicians aren't as good.

  • <3 What a nice mixture of some great voices. Wonderful. Thanks! <3

  • Beyond words in Beauty and Power!

  • Thank god for the ones that are able to write their own songs

  • Really nice! Thanks!

  • eres lo maximoooo! Jackson Browne saludos de chilee!!!!!

  • Is it me or does the opening guitar sound a lot like Sloop John B?

  • i don't think any real musician can call themselves such a thing if they can't appreciate someone as awesome as Jackson Browne. even though most of his hits were written in the 70's...the lyrics still ring true today 30-40 yrs later. truly a timeless musician...and one of the last true artists

  • @twistedviewlabs I've been a Jackson Browne fan for 30+ years. Yes, he wrote powerful songs in the 70's, but the best thing about him is his complete body of work. "Sky Blue and Black" moves me as much as "For a Dancer".

  • @stacey2497 totally agree with you. as a musician myself, i have a ton of respect for him.

  • @stacey2497 Sky Blue and Black is probably the best song ever written!!

  • @megwitch1 I kinda dout it but,, Ya never know. I was married to one,,, would not have known it till married. OUT of that 27yrs now. Happy

  • is he a wife beaFEATEAR I HOPE NOT

  • @megwitch1 actually, JB call the cops on her, she later recanted her accusations.

  • is he a wife beaFEATEAR

  • For all of you kids, who can't get over Jackson & CS&N together, go back & listen to Doctor My Eyes (his 1st hit from '72) Crosby & Nash were the harmony vocals!

  • gotta love that bass at 3:05!

  • hes a dedeecaytud man! :D

  • great uploads dude. Awesome!

  • Jackson Browne is a wonderful musician. His music is so relaxing and I think it shows his personality and beliefs well.

  • Jackson always sounds great!!

  • What happened at 3:41? Edit

  • What more could U ask for... J.B. ,C,s,n..... Perfect! Maybe could ask for neil. That would be nice but not complaining. I saw JB aug of 2009 .Again, perfect! Glad he shaved off that beard! LOL

  • @inatizzy2 if i'm not mistaken, CSN performed on the original track..

  • how really Great !!!

  • best song ever my jackson browne

  • I'm in awe. A fabulous rendition. To my eyes, it seemed as if the grey haired gents (yeah, I know who they are:) truly loved singing this and took it as an honor to be a part of it. Just fabulous.

  • my favorite version of this song!!!

  • Still cute

Still standing up for what he believes in.

You rock. And so does Graham Nash!

  • the good thing about looking liek woody allen is that he still basically looks the same..but its nice to see that mr cute jackson browne now looks like an old man....fuck him..he beat women so he pays by having his face and career get old

  • @StraightTwoDVD I read on-line that it was not true. That JB called the police and DH even said that he did not beat her. I think that it may be true, but i'm leaning towards gossip and false tales, just like Johnny Cash being in prison in his past. That is not true either.

  • "He knows that all his hopes and dreams, begin and end there."

That's surely putting it all on the line.

    Peace.

    Rock

  • Heard this song for the first time shortly after it's release as i was processing out of the army.

  • Jackson Brown ROCKS!!! :-)

  • Exellent

  • For everyone who has enjoyed this, I hope you have seen the youtube video of Lives in the Balance with JB and CN, It has great backup band also the beautiful picking of the great David Lindley. If you haven't caught it yet...check it out

  • Factoid: Nash and Crosby sang background on the original 1976 cut.

  • wow, this is a great performance. I hope they make a record together. Great band btw. Joe Vitale on drums, Bob Glaub on bass, Mark Goldenberg on the tele.

  • Crosby, Stills, Nash and Old

  • A perfect meld of harmonies. Shame they only played the one song together.

  • I think they did another song but it wasn't televised

  • Crosby, Stills, Nash and Old

  • I worried if someone gets heart attack and die. They are really old now.

  • During the 1982 Peace Sunday gathering at the Rose Bowl, moments like this came all day. CSN, Jackson, Dylan, Stevie Wonder. There wasn't enough time to put everyone on. Backstage was like a circus. Everyone worked for free..from the acts to the janitors. Thanks for posting this.

  • @rao4sos Wow sounds like dream. Wish I had a time machine. Thanks for posting your memories.

  • Wow what a beautiful arrangement! Jackson Browne is one of the last great singer/songwriters & CSN was the icing on the cake. Nicely done...

  • Actually David Crosby sang backup on the original recording of The Pretender.

  • Jackson is by far the greatest singer/songwriter in American History

  • Between the longing for Love and the Struggle for the Legal Tender....nobody phrases it better than Jackson.............Greatest Songwriter of the Seventies for sure and haven't seen much since that comes close to him.........not to mention what a great Humanitarian He Is.......He Walks His Talk

  • amazing

  • Excellent arrragement. I wouldn't have thoght it would have sounded so great w/CSN...but WOW.

  • @AbbyNC Actually, they played it safe: Jackson Browne originally recorded this song with Crosby & Nash...

  • @AbbyNC why wouldn't it? they sang on the original recording.

  • Love CSN and love Jackson Browne FTW!

  • Wow!!! Amazing, they still all sound great. Jackson Browne has been one or my favorites for years and he still sounds the same.

  • AMAZING... I LOVE THE THREE OF THEM- the were originally on the recorded version too

  • Awesome
