man, that was some nice scenery. what grabbed me the most was the jazzy trombone solo. that guy was cutting away at that t-bone. great music selection. can you tell me who it was.
That's the great Bill Harris. It's from a 1957 album called "The Ex-Hermanites," which I highly recommend. Always puts a spring in my step and puts me in good humor.
In fact, the album itself is kind of full of humor; you can really tell they're having a good time on that one.
thanks for the quick reply. i am an ex-trombone player...h.s., college and community band. are you a t-bone player as well. my keyboard won't let me make a question mark.
only a t-bone player can appreciate how good that solo was, particularly this way he seemed so ''fluid'' and able to drift in and out of extremely high register with ease. after i type this i will gooble bill harris and see if that album is still available. sometimes these old albums that no matter how good, are out of print.
One big benefit of Mt. Lemmon is it's a lot cooler in the summer than Vistoso. I actually live just down the road from Rancho Vistoso, off of Tangerine (Dove Mountain), maybe 7 miles or so?
Sweet video. Thanks for the tour !!! The family and I stay in Rancho Vistoso for our yearly vacation .We are looking at new sites to see and are considering Mt Lemmon. Last year we drove out to Karchner Caverns which we all thought was really cool. Thanks again for the the great drive!
I lived in Tucson for six years and attended the U of A. I remember that drive very well. Thank you. I love the fact that you picked a foggy, dramatic day to film. They are rare in Tucson, and usually end up being very special days. It was great to see the Catalina's again. Have you considered doing time lapse during the Summer monsoon lightening storms? We used to go up Mount Lemmon and watch from two to four separate, simultaneous lightening storms over the valley.
If I can get some storm footage I will. The problem with time lapsing lightning storms is that lightning strikes are fast as they are - the result being, if you speed up an electrical storm, you can almost not see the lightning at all.
I think what I can try, and it will be several months obviously before this is possible, is filming an hour of storm, and going slow-mo for the lightning strikes, with everything else fast.
There's also the issue of keeping the camera dry, of course.
Nice job! I was wondering where you were headed! La Encantada, eh? Too bad it was on one of the 5 bad weather days/year we have in Tucson! A sunny day would be more representative!
A sunny day would be but it would be less dramatic. (I will make one when it's clear as well). We drove up there specifically for the weather. I love Tucson when it rains or snows; breaks up the monotony of constant sun.
We actually stopped at La Encantada to pick up some good cheese on the way back to my house in Marana off of Tangerine; I don't normally shop there; that's not really my "set." Still, AJ's has a great selection of deli stuff.
Excellent! One can pretend biking Lemmon without leaving the house. I request that the same time-lapse video to be re-made on a clear, sunny, traffic-free day.
Nice! I think this kind of timelapses of driving in different areas are very fun to watch. You don't have to spend hours watching it when you have speeded up the video to see how the scene varies!
Very well done! I really enjoyed this...especially the drive through the east side. I miss that place.

That's a cool video man. Mt. Lemmon is a very cool drive. That turn at 1:46 to 1:48 is the best (funnest) turn on the mountain I think, lol.
