i'm using fedora 14, when i use guvcview, the audio and video are in sync, but the quality of the video is poor, meaning i cant see myself, i played with the setting on the program, but its still poor, is there a way to make that better, i have only been using fedora for 4 days so far, please help me ,
@foolsgold41 I got to be honest with you I am not very fond of Fedora. I recently installed version 15 in hopes that it has changed in some way, and I was surprised that I can finally use the sudo command from the terminal with out having to make adjustments to the "sudoers" file by default, but I am still struggling with the way how administrative tasks are set up in terms of permissions. I use Ubuntu, and even Ubuntu has become a nuisance with Unity look. I have to manually install Gnome 3.
@foolsgold41 Sorry I got out of the subject. Do you have graphics effects enabled or do you have an internal graphic card or external one installed. That could be a big factor in your picture quality. Last I checked type "sudo guvcview" without the quotes from the terminal gave me more options, but that was then and don't know if that has changed.
Well where it says "video & format" I choose "mpeg video 1" . The format is "AVI" I don't mess with the properties that much. I don't mess with the folder either. It normally saves in my home folder. I have a logitech pro 9000 webcam and I used to use the mic that was shown with my brand webcam name, but noticed that the /dev/dsp1 option was also availble in the audio for input device so I used that option instead because it is where my mic is located, yours could be different.
i need help okay so when i record its going fine but when i try to save it like saves it in a weird format and then whenevver i try to play it it says something about text only and i'm like wtf.
Good video. I had not heard of this app before. It's cool cause I remember a time not long ago where web-cams rarely worked with Linux period. Soon we will have HD webcams. I'm curious to see what Linux does with that.
Also, I think tha wah-wah effect has to do with the electric guitar wah-wah effect.
Thats pretty cool application! though the interface can really confuse alot of people... I just wish the interface was better, and it barely has effects for video, but has pretty neat effects for sound which cheese doesn't have! I'll see what i can do
@CJay554 You are right. I still like cheese, and glad that now we have control of the saturation, brightness, hue, and contrast. Also like the the burst mode feature. Back in the days we did not have much of those features. I remember I used luvcview, the inferior twin of guvcview, to control brightness and saturation in order to control those configuration in cheese, unfortunately no matter how good luvcview was it, it did not support sound. Anyways I subscribed to your channel.
@Nanotech233 Thanks alot =) I hope my video segments help as many people as possible, especially now that alot of peopl switch from XP to another system, i'd like people to be open minded to new options such as Ubuntu as its one of the most grown linux systems around, not to mention thousands times much easier to use then even windows! my own mother uses it and has absolutely no problem with it, and even my girlfriend wonders why she ever even used windows in the first place.

It's G-U-V-C Viewer, the first part is an acronym for "GTK USB Video Class". Nice video by the way!
