One of my all time favorite players. He was dominating on the defensive end and blocked shots and got rebounds better than nearly any other player out there. He stood out in an age of dominating centers.

I loved his attitude, I loved the finger wag, and I loved that he always looked like he was having a lot of fun like a big kid out there. And who doesn't love the cookie monster voice?

He also had the greatest pickup line of all time: "Who wants to sex Mutombo?!" Great stuff.

I think Hakeem is a better shot blocker, he and Mutombo played the same amount of seasons but Hakeem blocked 600 more shots than Dikembe,and record 0.2 blocks more than Mutombo in their career average.. But respect for Dikembe too.

1. Hakeem entered into NBA in much younger age than Deke. (21 vs 25)

2. He played more than 34 minutes per game. (starter) in 15 out of his 18 seasons. Nevertheless in his last 3 seasons he played at least 23 mpg. Deke played 34 mpg in 11 out of his 18 seasons. Two seasons he played around 22 ppg. In his last 5 seasons he played only 15 mpg.

Considering these issues I'd say his shotblocking ability was better than Hakeem.

1. Entering younger age means having far more effective seasons. Lets assume if Deke had entered 3 seasons before and left also 3 seasons later. In this case 22-24 y.o Deke physically would be far more fit thus effective than 40-42 y.o mutombo. Its all about biology.

2. Dikembe has more blocks per 36 minutes.
