  • looks liek mr gary moore dislike his solo

  • These are two of my favorite guitarist. So grateful for their contribution to my stress reliefe.

  • we all have a winner ('n dont start somethin u cant finish)

  • Comment removed

  • In this moment two dead people make my soul fly in heaven.

  • The Albert's King and Collins both tried to explain to Gary sometimes less is more. He never grasped the concept. Don't get me wrong Moore is an incredable player, but this music comes from the heart not from the shreding.

Iceman brilliant as always. RIP Guys.

  • imagine if it was a late 60's peter green, and an albert from this gig playing this song, it would be porn!

  • i love gary moore, he is my number 1 guitar player, and always has been, but i gotta say, his playing on this occasion is wayyyy too over the top for the song, he is more than capable of holding back, he has proved it time and time again, its just a shame he lost his control on this one, but hey, its nothing every guitar isnt guilty of at some point

  • great song ,great performance

  • yesterday i saw albert in a movie

  • @11alex11able Which one?

  • @elkin1888 i don't remember the title

  • increyble crucial

  • one of the best blues songs ever

  • great joke here 7:26 :-)

  • Collins' singing vibrato is a singular and beautiful thing.

  • Absolutely Brilliant !

  • sure made my day!!

  • This is fuckin pimp! That organ is gangsta

  • Too each his own I say... If it feels good whilst playing.. Who gives a hoot. Frankly i'd sell a few souls to be able to play like Joe Satriani and the likes while still being able to shred some deep soul like them old geezers (Robert Cray, Johnny Copeland, BB and what not). But yeh, Albert probably cacked himself laughing after the show thinking that boy be acting d fool.

  • Mr. Moore could play a billion notes in second in a song like this, but they still had feeling and power and great enjoyment for all to hear. I believe mr. Collins enjoyed it also. R.I.P. two great people. And musicians.

  • I'm going to stick my two cents in as a drummer (OK?). I back a number of guitarists imitating the great - Clapton, Hendrix, Green, Plant, BB, SRV, Walker, A King,A Lee, etc - the true gift is phrasing - and one great can take the song of another and take it where one never thought it could go - usually by "finessing" the original. But I have to admit I love GM's Blues playing, SRV's Lenny and Little Wing, whereas Hendrix Voodoo Chile, Bobby Bland's Stormy Monday - etc, etc, etc

  • allsome just fantasick this is some of the best music

  • For one Gary wasnt only a blues player he was also a hard rock, metal, jazz, and fusion player. Ive seen Gary rip Albert King a new asshole on a vid of Stormy Monday and all i have to say is if you stick with one genre of music thats what you will play so for anyone to give Garr advice on over playing somebody who only plays the blues is pretty fucked up.

  • the Ice man..Gary is always trying burn these old timers

  • The SOund comes thru in Canada once in a while it's block here too...so much for sharing then right.

  • See ya Gary, tell Albert I said hey and I'll see ya when I see ya.

  • Gary now has joined Albert ,Man bet they are making good music talking bout old times.May you both RIP we miss you guys

  • Gary with t h a t fine Strat of him, am I right?! You know, Red House, Fender Celebration in Wembley ...

  • I love both these dudes but I never understood why black guys can play simple and be good and white guys have to play a 1,000 notes per second? Always wondered.

    ***.jcmcneilband.***

  • Absolutely outstanding . Gary is one of my favorites. Albert is great. Both extremely expressive and creative. Yes, there was no upmanship. It's how they each experience that pain.

  • Que pena que o Mr Moore não entendeu a linguagem do blues... Great Mr Collins!!!

  • Rare to see G.M. with a Strat... NICE !!!

  • Man!!! I can't believe what I hear that Gary Moore is underated. How the hell is that possible and for him not be on Rolling Stones list of top 100 guitar players.,, Unbelievable not the way this guy plays man

  • I notice some comments below criticizing GM saying he was playing too fast too loud or whatnot, but I couldn't disagree more. He plays his solo with real passion and pretty much follows the several thematic motifs that AC uses throughout the piece! Listen folks, quit talking about the notes that aren't played and listen to those that are. GM's solo here is powerful, tasteful and respectful of AC - no showboating!

  • @jereuter01, I totally agree. Gary wasn't trying to "One-up" Albert at all, he merely took the vibe he was feeling through Alberts leading of the song, and poured all of his passion and feeling into his solo. My God that moved me! I had to rewind back to 4:40 to repeat that smokin' solo several times. They both are gone now, and the world is a little darker and drab because of it. R.I.P. both Albert Collins, and Gary Moore.

  • RIP MR More

  • Albert the Icepick Man! One of the nicest guys who ever became a musician....so amiable and always in a good mood. From what i've read Gary got on better with Collins & BB King rather than Albert King. Can't believe both Alberts plus Gary are gone.

    R.I.P. gentlemen.

  • RIP albert too they were both great!!! Albert is so underrated!

  • 5:55 Brother Gary Moore Ladies , and Gentlemen RIP Gary. We Love YOU!!!!

  • He almost always did some shredding in the company of bluesmen like Albert King, Albert Collins, etc. Everybody knows AK didn't have that fast fingers, he and many other legends had that "less is more" attitude to the whole thing. Sometimes I think Moore was kinda disrespectful.

  • @KDP1989 I hear what your saying. You look at the album vaughn did with albert king, vaughn held back, It was either outta respect or vaughn did a lotta his dramatic highs similar to king and figured it in. I don't know, It's always up to the listener, If it sounds too fast for the song, it was wrong. Maybe Moore figured Collins is collins, I'll do the fast shit. Either way, Collins didn't sound bad to me and I def don't think he came off as lesser in a comparison. You never know.

  • @5150zombie Of course Collins didn't sound bad! He sounded amazing, seemed as being more than Moore. SRV was respectful on that album. What a collaboration, man! Of course some people may think SRV sometimes played in that Albert King-style too much. But bluesmen like Buddy Guy, B.B. and Clapton admitted him being so original even if he played straight AK/Hendrix/BB/Buddy/etc-style, that it never sounded like copying.

  • R.I.P Gary Moore

  • RIP Brother Gary Moore. It will never be the same without you sustaining those notes touching our soul.

  • Moore will always be a legend

  • If this doesn't give you the chills you aren't living the blues!....Powerful!!!

  • @MarkO45839 No truer words were ever spoken! This video is both chilling and powerful. I love it so much I've had it on my My Space page for a very long time now.

  • Sir Gary Moore and Mr Albert Collins man what a lethal combination. Absolutely deadly. these two are just a cut above the others. So as Albert rightly states thank you very much Sir Gary Moore for your wonderful music and we are all going to just let this classic of classics wash all over us. This is just escepional stuff and from the two monsters giants of vocals and yes of course that fine but class of the class quitar play. So all I can really say is God rest your soul Sir Gary Moore.

  • @Preekcrap2 Exceptional is right. Thank you for giving Sir Gary Moore his props. These two artistsare electric together.

  • Rest in peace Moore !

  • Oh no: just read that Gary Moore has died, in Spain, at 58. He's one of the very few names I keep on my "favourites" list for YouTube. With BB King on THRILL IS GONE, he is a genius producing a masterpiece. RIP Gary!

  • Can't believe he died this morning. RIP

  • I like Gary Moore he's a good player, but against Albert laying down some sweet blues, Moore is COMPLETLY out gunned, and TOTALLY out classed.

  • Collin: just great...

    Moore: just boring...

  • Gary Moore is the most underrated guitar player ever!

  • @ThrowntoReality What makes you say that?

  • @ivarus75

Ehm... because he's mostly known for this first blues album he made when he's more famous for his rock albums from the 80's in Europe, he's a great songwriter and guitar player... And despite his talent he has never been on a "Top 100 guitar players" list made by Rolling Stone or other such papers. That's why.

  • @ThrowntoReality I guess that album gave him world fame. It's very accessible kind of music for many people. I think he's well respected....otherwise he would have never been able to play with Albert Collins, BB & Albert King. He's made some great stuff, including rock.....but this particular performance isn't one of them.

I never really look at top 100 lists by the way. No clue who makes them. There's always people missing....like Jan Akkerman. But...it's all personal preference :)

  • @ivarus75 / Those top 100 lists are people that write for Rolling Stone and the ilk have never even picked up a guitar!

  • @ThrowntoReality Well he is in very good company, not making that Rolling Stone list. Rory Gallagher also never made it. Nor did Albert Collins. That list is a piece of crap.

  • @ThrowntoReality You can't go by Rolling Stone or any other accepted rating. The Rock and Roll hall of fame is a joke. Grammys are a joke. These are industry schmooze fests paid for by the record companies to rub the egos of their clients. They don't rate. The real respect comes from peers.

That being said, I think Gary Moore gets his fair share of respect from people who count. He will be missed. May he rest in peace.

  • @ThrowntoReality Gary Moore became one of the greatest guitarists of all time. He'd be in my top 10 for Still Got The Blues alone

  • @ThrowntoReality Rollin Stone are ignorant Fu%ks

  • @bluesrock67 I've realised that now.

  • @ThrowntoReality ...I don't think so, but he is one of rocks greatest cocks, that's for sure.

  • @ThrowntoReality yep, RIP.

  • Who are you kid? The problem with Youtube is that anyone can comment everything, stop comment and listen the music...!!!

  • Straordinario! A 7:11 un passaggio stupendo :P

  • God bless the Master of the Telecaster. No one ever played the blues sweeter than he did.

  • Gary Moore is one of my favorite guitar players but he's way out of his league here... He was reduced to mindless shredding!

  • Este tema me mata, qué talentosos estos tipos para el blues-

  • one african doing what comes natural to him and one stupid white boy trying to mimic him.

  • Moore should stick to his Strats on pain of death, just too bloody distorted on a Gibson.

Albert was a real king of the blues. A force of nature!

  • check out around 5:14, that sax player is just like "are you kidding me?" lol

  • Its all about-- can you make em feel it......

  • everything was going good till gary started ,showing bad musicianship.nice touch Albert the real Blues

  • I like the flavor that Gary Moore adds to this, but can't deny that I prefer Albert Collins' blues style though; a minimalist versus a metal/blues maximalist, if you will!

I like that when you get these guys all together, sparks tend to fly.

  • As Lester P. of Waukesha once said "I learned a long time ago that one note can go a long way if it's the right one, and it will probably whip the guy with 20 notes."

p.s. about Rory... yes Lets get him in the R&RHOF

  • I guess the only modern Blues guitar player worth listening to EVER, was Stevie Ray Vaughan. It was always amazing to see how much he respected the older players on stage.

There was never a time when either one of the King's told him to 'tame down' his playing, because he was that special and that much in context. Put him on stage alone though and he would blow everyone away. God, I miss you SRV. Shine on.

p.s. Not to mention Rory Gallagher.

  • I've loved collins since I heard him, I have a understanding period with most. I really like this version and think cooper is good. I didn't dig his solo. Gunslinger shits cool if it fits the song, I felt it didn't. I still really liked the song.

  • Wow, what a great post! The Iceman and Gary Moore both playing on this song. I can never get enough of this type of music!

    Thank you muchos!!!

  • I Love Gary Moores skills too but, The Ice man and Albert King were right, less is more,,,,,,,,May they both Rest in Peace

  • master of the telecaster

  • Gary moore's guitar sounds like a game boy...

  • fuck you gary moore.... fuck you speed!!!!!!!!

  • gary moore and all these other 80`s palyers i barely remember the names of, didnt get the fact that you could not possibly get better than the kings or collins. thats why i never listen to any popular music besides pat metheny, jerry garcia related groups past the 70`s..

  • gary moore and all these other 80`s palyers i barely remember the names of, didnt get the fact that you could not possibly get better than the kings or collins. thats why i never listen to any music besides jerry garcia related groups past the 70`s..

  • Mr.Collins teaches the silence.

  • After listening to a "Collin's only" version of this same song, I found GM unlistenable. Reminds me of the Walter Trout concert I attended that was nothing but incessant runs at lightening speed. All flash and no soul. I'll take Collin's "feel" any day.

  • ※♥※ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ※ ♥ ♫.•:*¨♥¨*:•.♫ ♥ ※ Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ ※♥※

  • I remember reading an interview with Gary Moore, where he said Collins gave him some good advice (something along the lines of 'less is more'). Suspect Collins offered that advice after hearing him blasting away alongside him on some stage session like this. Not sure of the timescales, but I guess he took that advice on board later in his career - I've certainly seen videos of him playing in a much more restrained way. It's all about context really.

  • @Libcomedy I've seen a video of Albert King giving GM similar advice. He needs it :)

  • @ivarus75 Weird really - GM is genuinely one of my favourite guitarists. He's fantastic doing the rock stuff and can certainly do more restrained blues. He just seemed to go through a phase of doing guest spots with some of the greats and playing inappropriately fast, dense shredding solos. Felt the need to prove himself? Not really a team player? Dunno really, but it is a bit odd thinking this was the right song/company to blast away on.

  • @Libcomedy I agree. Gary is a fantastic guitar player, but sometimes it's a wonder that he and his ego can both fit through the doorway.

  • @ivarus75 bb king gave neil schon the same advice - playing the one perfect note after the schon flurry, not that I don't mind a full bent wail on occasion

  • @Libcomedy "Less isn't Moore"? hahaha, lol. Hear what you say and I agree. On the other hand, on the "Blues for Greeny" dvd, Moore shows the abillity to take it one (or two) step back! In my opinion that is what it's all about. Fairlyfast puts it right in this 'discussion': it's all about the notes you don't play. A good guitar player doesn't necessarily make a good bluesguitar player. This vid proves that. GM excellent rock guitar, but way out of line in this song!

  • its "painfully"obvious yu know nothing about "blues"..gary moore is agreat "heavy metal - rock player. he is not in the same "league as the " albert collins ...albert king...etc.

  • @gittar1

You're right he's way above them.

  • blues aint about speed...its a feeling ...listen to "albert ! gary moore needs to slow down and " feel " the music.!

  • @gittar1

It's painfully obvious you know nothing about Gary Moore.

I suggest you do your research on Gary before you ridicule the Greatest metal-rock-blues guitarist of this century.

  • @MrStinger70 You can't even spell, pretty ironic...

  • My dad loved some Albert Collins...and so do I 4ever shall he live !

  • Okay. I'll put in my two cents worth. It's the notes you don't play that count. So many players are into way too much speed and gadgets. Unnecessary! Just play from your heart and tell the story of the blues. That's not say that there aren't times when you want some speed, it's just not needed 99% of the time. But what do I know, I'm just an old man.

  • @fairlyfast u r right ..old man lol :)

  • @fairlyfast nice to hear collins playing slow blues, without that louie jordan horn punch

  • @fairlyfast You're right.....if you're talking about jazz. The blues requires every note be loud and clear. There's not much I don't hear when I listen to these guys, or the likes of Rory Gallagher, Roy Buchanan, Joe Bonamassa, Roy Rogers, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes.....et. al.

  • @fairlyfast Rock on!

  • I get tired of this lame debate about speed vs. blues. Has anyone stopped to consider that what we call "real bluesmen" come from a different experience before speed was a part of the cultural milieu they lived? Some of them lived in towns without cars. Slow playing CAN reflect the soul as much as speedy playing. But just as one note for 32 bars bores, 32 notes per second can bore. Moore plays faster because his world, his experiences are faster. Speed kills, so does doing 5mph on the freeway.

  • Moore should have taken a Valium and let Albert play more.

  • makes ya miss AC. And Gary Moore is such a team player.

loved it when he started recording blues albums.

  • Miss you Albert. Simply the best. BTW, this song is usually a mixolydian (blues scale) but here they play in minor if I'm not mistaken.

  • Both Gary Moore and Albert King are great guitar players. I think they compliment each other perfectly

  • @mistydancer100 Good call. The compatiblity factor is enhanced by the differences in their styles. Change-ups in the song make the musical journey more interesting. They were friends and both played with feeling. Gary may be fast at times, but his slow vibrato brings out the feeling. Mr. Collins has a great guitar sound and voice. Like Jimi Hendrix, Albert King, Freddie King, SRV, Tommy Bolin, and Randy Rhoads, Mr. Collins alive again when his music is played through a sound system.

  • I really love the part "have you ever talk to yourself?" Mr Albert's guitar sounds so unique ,he didn't even have to play fast to impress the crowds.

  • Gary took out collins nasty! That strat tone was to sick

  • I have to agree with morbss on this one. You can play so fast it DETRACTS from the feelings. It's not the blues anymore when it becomes about athleticism. Speedy fingered players beware!

  • @jensenbell

True, one note from Albert is worth more than a million from a metal head masquerading as a bluesman like Moore.

  • why does all white guitar players have to play speed solos on blues :| ?

  • @morbss because they have backgrounds in rock and because they can.

  • @europaheavenssmile dunno, but it sucks to me .cause blues is music about feelings and not how fast you can play.but thats why we all know who are/were best blues players.

  • @morbss Well, can't a man feel deep emotions that are best reflected by flurries of fast notes? Perhaps it's just that you cannot relate to these types of music. (Although many, MANY younger players out there just play fast because it brings them money, I.E. metal fellows)

  • No one is better than the ICEMAN!

  • For what its worth....Not to sure why he felt he had to blow away Albert Collins, Albert and BB King, but there you go. He did it! Guess those years in Thin Lizzy and G Force etc helped give him that 'hard' edge. Apart from Buck Dharma still the very best I've seen in 53 years. These guys didn't object to playing with him, did they?

  • First there was delta blues, then Urban, electrified blues. Now the white boys overdrive their Marshalls and play fluid, sustained, power blues.I like the new blues, it's a major improvement. We love the old stuff but there has been progress over the years.Of the real greats only B.B., Otis Rush, and Buddy are left; Otis can't physically play anymore. Power blues is the progression. Let's hope it continues and it doesn't become contaminated like rock has with punk first and now hip hop.

  • Gary Moore can outblues anybody. Why did he insist on doing it to his idols?

  • @europaheavenssmile Moore couldn't outblues my mother. His solo is a snoozefest. He's fast I'll give him that, but that's about it.

  • @onthebus17 Listen, please?

  • @UsAndThem94 that's actually good advice, though it would probably be better directed at Moore.

  • gary moore make it look easy cuz it is, never really liked gary, but always have loved albert collins

  • fast fingers do not make a guitar blues player..it is the time spacing, feeling and emotion that goes into it,,Albert C has been around longer than most of the musicians on that stage,,playing blues, his style his originality (and many try to sound like him,but can't)..he has never used a pick that I know off and can belt out some awesome sounds without one,.one of my first blues record I bought as a kid, learning to play guitar was a new 45rpm by Albert Collins.I hear SRV when I listen to AC

  • @WEBTRAIN Correction, you hear Collins when you listen to SRV.

  • @WEBTRAIN

fast fingers do not a musician make , so true. Gary moore just makes himself look a fool here. It was the same in the jazz sax scene ; faster and faster , more notes, more like coltrane, more , more more.....and it comes out as bullshit , bullshit , bullshit...whether its jazz or blues , or anything in life , if its from your little mind then its small crap , if its from your big mind , its 'there', 'timeless' etc....Albert collins =timeless, Mr Moore = monkey with fast digits

  • @0zazen I respectfully feel you missed the point. Gary can be fast but he can play very slowly when it's called for. You obviously haven't heard too many Moore CD's.Speed is not the issue here. Moore could match Albert note for note, BUT Albert could not match Moore's playing. It's not about speed, it's about progression.

  • @0zazen Stopped reading your comment when you said Coltrane is bullshit.

  • I love Moore but his solo was a guitar center metal shred garbage solo...wow he needs lessons..and he got em from Albert....

  • @konshess you really feel the blues in Gary's playing...pick it up.

  • ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh my goddddddddddddddddddddd yes please....when the man disappears and all thats left is the music....

  • makin that telecaster talk!

  • albert collins produces amazing sound from the telecaster! ice pickin!

  • could'nt agree with moore on that chrisdanabbott, a well made point indeed!!!

  • Albert Collins, what a KICK ASS guitarist he is!!! He is one of the best blues guitarist ever... Well, when Mr Hendrix himself says that you are the best blues guitarist, you must be great. 3:35 I love the way he starts his solo!

  • so much controversy over a BAD ASS song played by two BAD ASS guitarist! Relax and enjoy.

  • This is some good stuff :-)

  • collins play with heart... gary with fingers.... sad...

  • @MrStinger70 Yeah yeah yeah....

  • @boxingin

Yeah yeah yeah thats right uh huh fkin A your a fkin instigating under educated lame brain. Do everyone a favor go back to school you mindless fk..

  • @MrStinger70 Ok ok... Please don't commit suicide life is too precious! LOL!!

  • @boxingin

    Fuck You Dipshit

  • @MrStinger70 Why are you so upset? Just because Gary Moore was totally OWNED by Collins that doesn't mean that he sucks. I love Gary Moore he is one of my favorite guitarists but he was out of his league here. Collins whooped him like Ali did Foreman in the Rumble In The Jungle... :)

  • Gary's one of my all time favorite guitar players... But here he was OWNED every step of the way.

  • Gary moore is good, but he melds to many rock/ metal type riffs into it, makes it non bluesy to my ears, its like yngwie tryin to cover bb king, to fast to not make you cringe. In their own music it works, but on these classics and standards, he goes to far....Dont play the standards this way! keep it true to the original, or your grandkids are gonna miss out on the real blues!

  • 4:24 this lick destroys entire Moores solo. AC the master showing ol Gary how to play the blues, cuz it seems to me the latter still doesnt know how to do it properly.

  • @Scalpelex Gary looked totally frustrated here. And unlike BB King who cuts Moore plenty of slack whenever they jam together Collins wasn't haven't it. He straight up bust a cap in Moore's ass! LMAO!

  • I always wonder about these people who make extremely nasty remarks about musicians on these videos around the theme of who's better than who and who's "cutting" who. They remind me of the chimpanzees in the Jane Goodall specials who run around screaming and raising hell in the jungle rather than just relaxing and enjoying the blues.

  • Gary Moore is a legendary player in his own right as is Albert Collins, he doesn't just always shred, his playing is technically great as is the mast of the telecaster.... Great performance!!

  • Gary Moore is a hack. Pretender, without any feeling. Collins was the real deal.

  • "the iceman"...

Albert Collins died when i was just 1year old..just goes to show you good music stays for ages.i guess todays music has something to do with it..

BTW i never liked Moore strat stuff even though i love his style

  • AC is one of Texas' favorite sons!! Cheers!

  • Albert Collins was an absolute master! He could truly speak with his guitar. Notice how much space he uses in his playing. Only a musician with complete control could do that!

  • Let there be no doubt Gary is THE master Guitarist of our age! The man has been around for over 30 years and has mastered every style of music there is. Gary will go down in history as the Best that ever was, And our children and our children's children will will sit in awe at this mans talent. (Eddie van who?) lol

  • @MrStinger70 not really gary isnt that big a deal i think someone like stevie ray vaughan far surpasses gary

  • @leavittobeaver

Thats a matter of opinion however i believemost listeners would agree with me. Or anyone that has a taste for great performers like gary moore. Not to take away anything from stevie ray but gary is just a better musican.

  • @MrStinger70 There's no arguing taste: If I think SRV's best, he is, for me. If you think GM's best, he is, for you. There's no such thing as objectively better music. But other aspects are objective: As a long-time time employee in a major venue venue, I've been 'collecting' opinions on musicians for many years, from both other musicians & customers: I can assure you that SRV has a greater # of listener #1 rankings than GM, by 20 times over.

  • @lazur1

I agree! But gary having more than 40 years of experience isn't by any means a slouch at his craft. SRV was a great guitarist but Gary was by far the most talented. ( Just my opinion)

  • @MrStinger70 Gary doesn't sound like he's master every style of playing to me, has you say. By hearing this he sounds like a novice trying to play the blues...

  • @boxingin

Are you mentally handicapped or what? Or are you just plain stupid? Wake the fk up!

  • @MrStinger70 Why because Gary was toatally OWNED by Collins? Don't hate because I'm saying the truth you deaf MF! LOL!!!

  • @boxingin

If i'm a MF keep her off the streets! The nigger bitch of a mother who gave birth to you! A inbred idiot wrapped in a moron. LOL ROFLMFAO

  • @MrStinger70 God you're slow....

  • @boxingin

    God you're retarded....

  • Hey, put down your "big words = big man" dictionary & just listen to the music!

  • Great blues, forget about all the other. Enjoy the music!

  • what player like Moore do not understand is that Blues like Jazz or flamenco are about creating a catartic atmosphere were groupal energy and magic occurs...and never an excuse to show off or gain self protagonism...blues is groupal activity (including the audience) and has nothing to do with egotism
