If anything his American accent sounds like he has lives all over the world and picked up bits and pieces from all of the places he has lived. Makes sense since he is an international worker. My accent is a bit odd as well and I haven't been far out of the USA, visited Canada once, but moved around as a child & just picked up stuff from each place. So I have a mix of the Southern-Wisconsin, Ohio-Appellation, and a small amount of Iowan. Mix it. Sound like Midwest, but can't tell where exactly.
