my car will brick itself if you try to start it with a wrong key. Then you have to tow it to the dealer to get it reprogrammed. Im not positive on this but i have read the same story a few times
Hey mate my car got stolen and it was a 1999 ford falcon with a immobiliser and everything.Do you have a clue as what are the possibilities to start it as the forensic locksmiths couldn't find anything either even after the investigation shit.
Is thee any way anyone can steal that car without the correct key??
@karandeep2009 Yes. The immobilizer just makes it much harder to start the engine. You still can tow the car away, or bypass the immobilizer. Different manufactures use different systems, and some are much easier to bypass than others. If you know the vehicle well, you can steal it with ease.
Be aware, 2006 Honda Civics have a defect in the Immobilizer system. If the car's battery becomes discharged and left that way for a little as a few hours, the immobilizer loses its programming, and you will NOT BE ABLE to start your car, and it will have to be towed to a Honda dealer so they can reprogram your car keys. The Honda service bulletin about this is apparently #09012005, but good luck finding out what it actually says anywhere online.
so if the stops or interferres with the immoberlizer signal from key (saying its a bad key) so whats says it carnt be reversed to send a signal to the immobiliser saying its the correct key ?
Yeah, well, you can thank the Germans for inventing the idea in the 1990s. BMW has had this feature on their cars since then and numerous others have followed.

Most professional thieves know how to defeat the immobilizer it's RFID based so it's not really that secure.
Some even prefer to cars with key less ignition as they don't have to deal with the mechanical lock as well.

Will an old credit card work?
belizetj 3 years ago
It could if it has an RFID embedded inside. But if it's just the typical kind with a magnetic strip, no.
