I am not a total fan of Putin - first of all I think it's up to the Russian people to say and not interfere - but I admit he has made huge efforts to recover Russia's economy and prestige on the world scene. I think he needs though to be more on the social side. Besides, Russia is a nation that defends vigorously its sovereignty and doesn't let other powers try to destabilise it. @TheRetiredtrucker Well, you have a point. Russia is not ruled by Walter Mondale types. But, it never has been. It is a huge nation (2.5 times the size of USA) surrounded by enemies, potential enemies, & some allies. It has been invaded for hundreds of years--and that sticks in the memory of the dominant, tough, ass-kicking tribe: Russians. I prefer to live in the USA, and if we stop our provocations & endless wars, maybe we can re-establish the US Constitution & fiscal solvency on our side.

@TheRetiredtrucker Page 2: By the way, we have a lot to be thankful for, over here in the USA, particularly at the local level (cities & counties), outside of the ghettos in every large city. I have closely interviewed Russian graduate students (including really high-IQ people who are here on big scholarships). They comment that US infrastructure (like telecom and highways) is in a lot better condition than in Russia (except in the capitol & St. Petersburg). We need to preserve & maintain it.

What about the secret banking bailouts that no one new until recently?
