  • I watched this show every week. It's what got me interested in American history. I wish they'd come out with it on DVD, too. It only lasted one season, so it may not be available.

  • Another site for the theme song is televisiontunes. This one you look under Great adventure

  • OK for those that are looking for the Richard Rogers theme song...Go to themesongshut ...You will have to look it up under "The Great Adventure" It has the full blown song there. Yeah I wish the series would get release as a DVD or something. You get something good with and they hold it back from you. What harm would this do...I ask you??

  • Yes, yes, please, Richard Rogers' stirring march music title theme. Somebody must have it! Haven't heard it since I was seven!

  • Acting with Lee Marvin... lucky kid! Handsome lad, too!

  • Yeah, if you have the show here SURELY you just have the opening theme song? It was the BEST!

  • What is needed is someone to put the "Great Adventure" theme, on YouTube--

One of the most rousing inspirational pieces of music, ever played on network TV.

Composed and conducted by Richard Rodgers, the series it introduces, has never been released to DVD or video, and it is the highest quality of writing and performing -- American history episodes.

  • You are sooo right. I can remember the tune, and it was great. have you found it anywhere?

  • I remember watching this series in 1963. What I remember most was the theme to the series. Can someone send me either a link or post the theme to "The Great Adventure, please. Thanks.

  • Do you have any more of this episode? (I don't remember this show, how long was it on?) Was Koenig aged at all during the ep? This episode sounds like it might have followed the character he played & his father for quite sometime. I also wouldn't say he was Armenian, but an immigrant from Armenia. What state is this supposed to take place in? Sounds like possibly Oklahoma.
