"Home from the Hill" a fitting end to Hook, who was a classic case of stiff upper lip, facist British snob who probably thought to his dying day that Africa and India belonged to the British Empire. They probably send him home before he embarssed himself with racist comments.
He says "juxtaposed". It's hard to explain but it's kind of putting two very different things next to each other and comparing, like in this case where it's a scene of the man being waited on followed by a scene where he just looked frail and unable to open a can. It's like showing Fight Club and Gandhi back to back. Hope that helped, messy an explanation as it was.
I was actually afraid for that old guy in the "Home from the Hill" clips because he seemed clueless in trying to work the can opener and I kept thinking "The old fart is going to end up slicing open his hand. I just know it."
I adore Nick and Simon. They're just like brothers.
he was an old empire man yes, with all those connotations, but they edited the film to make him seem more racist than he actually was in her first cut.
Ghastly nothing. Hilary Hook is an example of his generation nothing more, you may disagree with his views and his way of life but it was the norm at the time. I for one have always found that 40 Minute special to be a very touching postscript to that old empire ideal.
it makes u wonder wat these guys think. like if they think that people love them that people want to hang out with them!
or if they know that people watch their movies 100 times! cause i have watched shaun of the dead like 38 times already and hot fuzz 4 or 5 times already! u know these guys are probaly the best guys to hang out with in the world!

Part of "Home From The Hill" wound up as a segment on 60 MINUTES -- quite fascinating. And sad.

The part where the teacher falls in the hole reminds me of the bit in Hot Fuzz where Angel falls in the hole where the gypsy bones are.

I love how much they make each other laugh; that's half the fun of watching them.

The gore is mainly tongue-in-cheek...
and head-in-mouth...
and arm-on-floor...
LOVE zombies!!!! Especially that Italian one, with the island and the splinter-in-the-eye (woman hiding in closet).
