@usmcslater Dust players fight on planets, Eve players in space. For example corporations in Eve can hire the dust players to take on a planet for the corporation.
Its not totally clear how these things are going to coexist but it sounds it sounds pretty cool, its a big step for gaming. 2 different games on 2 different platforms which will interact with eachother.
difference people with this is that the UNIVERSE is changing according to what you do, maps, everything. There is actual strategy involved, 100 times more than ever involved in halo and MW3 due to the grand scheme of your actions
To me this looks like the sequel to MAG. In my opinion MAG was a pioneer in its own way, not only because it featured lots of players playing together ( Now BF3 will have 64 players so I guess MAG had some influence ), but also because it involved teamwork in a whole new way. I think Dust 514 will be similar, and if the makers of this game saw the flaws in MAG, then I think it will be what MAG should've been. MAG was very underrated, it tried a lot of new things, too bad it didn't live for long.
@MyHeadAsplodes MAG is dead, guess i should stop playing it then, cause i play it all the time still on the 256 man rooms, and BF2 did 64 man way before MAG even came out, and BF3 is only 24 players on PS3. I think Dust 514 is going to be something cool that sci fi shooters have been looking for, it will fill the gap until Planetside 2 comes out for PC. Too bad Dust has only announced 32 man maps so far, I think it would be better with more players and giant maps, bigger than BF3.
Halo is about Power Rangers and 12 year old kiddies. DUST 514 is different, there are no Power Rangers, is a Revolutionary MMO it will have more variety for different kind of stuff, more than Combat system, because that is what Halo only have.
@AlphahawkA25 As much as I love Halo these games are nothing alike besides dealing with space. EVE is older and this game will be online only similar to MAG with a massive number of players shooting one another. I'm not going to comment on this game until I see the final results about a year from now.

@mulgure1 Like last time with the PSN downtime, it was because of hackers and since dust and eve online is connected there is some chance that hackers on the computer can hack into PSN again but that was what Microsoft was worried about connecting eve with dust on the console, Microsoft is very careful with everything.

@noobler9 I know EVE has color but this isn't EVE, although they're connected. I understand they're going for the darker grittier kind of sci-fi, and to be honest I like that tone a lot. But these environments are so bland that they're just boring. But who knows, perhaps when more information about the game gets out I might change my mind.

@st0kes24 the game isnt on ps vita, features like a market etc will be (there were rumours a while ago youd be able to browse eve online markets using handhelds seems this was the source)
@st0kes24 its a misunderstanding about what exactly the vita is getting, the way the game works it has a market that you can trade stuff with other players, or buy things etc On the vita you get access to your market whilst your not at your ps3 (pretty sure eve online the pc game this connects too has something similar)

@LordSagarath its an fps set in the same universe as eve online, you paly in a mercenary corp which can take job offers from pc player corporations in space to capture planets etc on the ground for them. And from what is described here that big floating ship is controlled by a pc player and he acts as the commander giving squads orders and sending support etc. So it links in directly to the MMORPG eve online so the objectives actually mean something unlike a meaningless flag or crate

From what I've heard, PS3 and Xbox 360 players will play together on the same servers.
Not sure about private matches though. This is going to be a MMOFPS game, so battles are going to be large scaled. Probably not the game to have small private matches.
Although due to the fact that you play as a mercenary in a mercenary company, taking over planets for EVE players, You may be able to should ( from what I've heard ) create your own merc companies.

This is such a good idea, but will it fail in implementation? Ive played Eve for 2 years, but i havent owned a console since super nintendo, and i wont buy one just to play Dust. Now i would be dying to dock my ship and land on planet to fight, but it seems CCP doesnt view things this way. It says that its set in the EVE Universe. But does that mean just the EVE Universe or does it interacts with EVE Online in some way. It would be awesome if you could mix this with terretorial Planetary Interactions in some way. Lets say two alliances fights over the resources on the planet. While the PC fights in space the consols fights on the ground. Looking forward to it anyways.

@st0kes24 its a misunderstanding about what exactly the vita is getting, the way the game works it has a market that you can trade stuff with other players, or buy things etc On the vita you get access to your market whilst your not at your ps3 (pretty sure eve online the pc game this connects too has something similar)

@LordSagarath its an fps set in the same universe as eve online, you paly in a mercenary corp which can take job offers from pc player corporations in space to capture planets etc on the ground for them. And from what is described here that big floating ship is controlled by a pc player and he acts as the commander giving squads orders and sending support etc. So it links in directly to the MMORPG eve online so the objectives actually mean something unlike a meaningless flag or crate

From what I've heard, PS3 and Xbox 360 players will play together on the same servers.
Not sure about private matches though. This is going to be a MMOFPS game, so battles are going to be large scaled. Probably not the game to have small private matches.
Although due to the fact that you play as a mercenary in a mercenary company, taking over planets for EVE players, You may be able to should ( from what I've heard ) create your own merc companies.
still early though.

CCP said they did not want to cut there EVE player base, so they only put DUST 514 on the consoles... and by consoles I mean PS3...
And if anything, MS does not like CCP. Because from what I read in a recent interview, Sony was more... lenient and compromising than Microsoft.
Either way, CCP just better hope PSN doesn't go down again or they'll be ruined.

This is such a good idea, but will it fail in implementation? Ive played Eve for 2 years, but i havent owned a console since super nintendo, and i wont buy one just to play Dust. Now i would be dying to dock my ship and land on planet to fight, but it seems CCP doesnt view things this way. Do they really think the average console player wont drop this game when a new console comes out? I cant see this working long term, unless its also released on PC.

I like the idea of this game. but i wonder how it will be handled.
It says that its set in the EVE Universe. But does that mean just the EVE Universe or does it interacts with EVE Online in some way. It would be awesome if you could mix this with terretorial Planetary Interactions in some way. Lets say two alliances fights over the resources on the planet. While the PC fights in space the consols fights on the ground. Looking forward to it anyways.
