  • @GunnerProductions20 dude i was making a joke

  • Once sorry

  • Was there actually a guy with a camera or is it fake but it was real one

  • @charlieevans2001 I really hope you're kidding...

  • I think the music and singing is nice and mellow, if only there was a soundtrack to this.

  • This captain... he is like the Chuck Norris or the God of mariners.

  • I think the Captain was smiling because it was like smiling at death, and if he didn't get the ship over the wave, that's how he was gonna go, smiling.

  • @TheNoobWhoWins He was smiling because he had no fear. He refused defeat and death, and smiled because of the challenge that awaited him.

  • @HardikG121 His balls were massive.

  • @ThePicaretoKid hell yeah they were.

  • then an even bigger wave comes and kills them all

  • I always love when the first mate refuses to go below and the Captain gives him a great "you're an idiot but I respect you for it" look before getting set for the wave.

  • What is Anak Krakatoa? Is it this same exact volcano? I don't understand,

  • @Sonikclaw2 After Krakatoa collapsed and disappeared, a new volcano was born.

  • god... those damn Indonesians just cant catch a break can they

  • These actors deserve to be in feature films.

  • so were there 2 tsunamis with krakatoa? As there was one at the beginning of the eruptions

  • I hope the tsunami in Japan isn't as bad as this

  • @HardikG121 obviously not. Get a huge measuring tape, and look at 5 meter, then 150 meter.

  • I wonder why the Captain was smiling when the tsunami was coming? He must be one fearless bastard :D

  • Man that captain is a beast. He needs his own statue or something.

And yes, this is the best part of the movie. At first i thought 'oh this is going to be a cliche part where the captain would yell into the thing headfirst and die.' But really, the music and the visuals really had me, but the acting was spot-on. It had me hoping they would survive and I was happy to see they did. you rock captain man!

  • "I have goose bumps, people!"

  • Captain Lindeman owns Jack Sparrow, Barbossa, and Davey Jones any day. PERIOD. His balls were as big as the tsunami

  • @HardikG121 Well Captain Lindeman was real those characters are ficional

  • 3:02 onwards is a Crowning Moment of Awesomness with a Rule of Cool mayoneesse on top of it.

Really people, that man should get the award Balls of Steel of the century for such a contribution into the hallowed Halls of Fame of the Awesomeness Is Volatile museum where are such persons displayed as 300 spartans, Chuck Noriss, Mr. T, John 117 etc.....

  • he sailed the shit out of that ship! hoo boy!

  • just one thingtho...1:58 if the captain couldnt calm those people down how did that girl do it? just sayin... this is good tho thanks for downloading!

  • this was the greatest thing ive ever seen thumbs up if u were clapping after this vid

  • GO CAPTAIN!

  • Captain Lindeman are truly a wise man...

    Very good movie... 10*

  • ONE OF THE TOP-100 MOVIES EVER CREATED!!!!!

  • man you gotta have big balls to fight with a wave like that O_O.

  • @Rubenaxo000

    Captain Lindeman was the man

  • thats not the worst volcano in indonesia, not even by a long shot. the most destructive and powerful one was the mount toba eruption in central sumatra. it was about 200 times stronger than krakatoa. although because it was inland, no one had to worry about tsunamis.

  • @newchihuahua

    I'm not sure

  • DANG!! The Captain is AWESOME!! Shoot...

  • Essa foi a mais incrível cena de cinema catástrofe que eu já vi na minha vida

  • I remember watching this ages ago.

Very well done documentary, Krakatau was a horrific tragedy.

oh yeh and the captain has titanium balls

  • when did this whole thing happen like what year

  • 2012 movie is crap compared to this

  • @BoyArmor

You are right and this is a real story

  • @melende1970

exactly not some stupid prediction which is 100% false

  • I wonder if there's more than 1 like Krakatoa's Volcano.

  • I have too say. We cant say whether Anak Krakatau will erupt or not. One thing is for certain. This eruption effected the weather of the entire earth straight up too 1923. A frigid mini-ice age. If Anak Krakatau does erupt and IS more powerful than Krakatoa's eruption. (due note that it was 4 times that of humanity's largest nuclear bomb ever detonated. And did this).

    I have one wonder.

WHY THE *FUCK* ARE PEOPLE STILL LIVING THERE THEN?

  • @godofmajora

    I agree with you

  • thatsaltymotherfucker

  • that captain sure is brave, did he survive?

  • This is cool, very enjoyable.

  • Hey does anyone know were I can get the full version for free?

  • beast captain

  • Incredible...

this makes me realise we should always stop and take the time to tell the ones we love that we love them while we can and when we can, because for all we know it might be our last chance... (no im not usually that dark xD but its true! =)

  • the wave was over 60 meters high

  • Good captain!

  • Surely an impressive save. But the movie is far from truth. The Krakatoa tsunami was a major one, inland run up heights up to somewhat 50m. The wave height out in the sea was considerably smaller, even in shallow waters (run up height always above wave height with these kind of waves). Nevertheless, even a 20 meters wall of water is really bad, especially when racing fast. The captain saved the sip - which was swept deeply inland by the massive current

  • Comment removed

  • 02:46 like titanic movie

  • At 6:16 how did he bleed?

  • @FamilyGuyFanatic800 Broken glass from the window flying in his face.

  • @FamilyGuyFanatic800 probably a cut from the ash or heat, sliced when the wave hit him that fast. The saltwater likely irritated already damaged skin, causing the bleeding to grow more obvious.

  • correct me if I'm wrong but arent tsunamis supposed to be unnoticeable in deeper waters? the wave in this clip resembles more like a rogue wave than a tsunami to me

  • @Gdaus72- They were actually still in the bay, but that was how big the wave was - even at 12 to 15 fathoms deep, it was reported by witnesses to be about 100 feet or so high. That was how great was from the explosions and collapse of Krakatoa.

Also the source of tsunamis usually start from hundreds of miles away - but this source - from Krakatoa - was only from about 30 miles from across the mainlands. Can you imagine how horrific this was? I'm glad none of us were there!

  • @Gdaus72 True - tsunamis are very low and practically unnoticed in deep water but only if caused by earthquakes (i.e. vibrations). If caused by landslides (i.e. by a simple abrupt water displacement), which was the case with Krakatoa collapse, they can be very high even in deep waters.

  • @Gdaus72

this wave was probably 150 feet high, it was a tidal wave

  • @Gdaus72

    no it was a tsunami

  • @Gdaus72 true.

  • this is why i hate land lubbers

  • The expression on the face of the first mate at 5:26 pretty much sums up the situation. Captain Lindemann did get a citation of the high order for his heroism - I can't remember the exact one - but if you google his name there are sites with his entire diary of the events surrounding the erupion.

  • great and epic! the wave appears to be high even one hundred meters

  • Oh my god.... Why don't we ever hear about this captain? This guy really did what no other person would do- go right into the wake of a tsunami, saving dozens of lives in the process. I truly salute this captain and encourage others to do so

  • The earthquakes are more frequent now.

If the outer planets are also suffering from quakes, we should examine the NIBIRU story a wee bit more seriously.

  • It's amazing how the Indonesians can think about "sweeping Malaysians" when there are more important matters to attend to. Like taking steps to help their people in the face of natural disasters like this one.

  • Wow - heard 3,000 miles away in Australia! Wouldn't want to be within earshot of it. A volcanic eruption AND a tsunami! Sheez.

  • that captains balls were as BIG as kratatau's explosion. a real man's man......

  • @ethereal72 Hahahah, love it. people must think you as a comedian.

  • @ethereal72 How about sailors? They were still topsite for looks of it! 5:40

  • The best sequence in the entire movie. The acting, the situtation, the special effects, the music all just come together perfectly.

In "disaster" epics like this, you can get only so much out of showing crowds of extras running hither and thither in panic. Watching the ship almost vertical as it tries to clear the waves, and the determination on the captain's face makes watching something like this really worth it.

  • I agree, it was a most excellent scene,

it was so good I wish it had a lasted a bit longer !

  • Epic.

  • Krakatoa, shit, ANAK krakatoa, were screwed

  • After reading the Captain's log (thnx for posting!) I'd say this depiction is rather inaccurate and omitted many important moments: There were SEVERAL huge waves (though not HALF as big as the apocalypse shown in the movie probably to make the show more popular), the ship was near the harbor of Telok Betong at the time (not shown), captain saw the ship that was to disembark the passengers (the Berouw) stranded on the shore by the tsunamis etc. etc.

  • Oh, man...Incredible.

And they say that the son of Krakatoa [Anak Krakatoa] is due for a terrible explosion. They say it may even be more dealier then the Krakatoa.

  • I hope Indonesia will be better prepared this time!

  • @MelodyOfVision

hmm i really doubt it :(

last week we got another tsunami & hundreds casualties

and as we speaking, Anak Krakatoa is making move :(

  • @MelodyOfVision

    hopefully,

last week we got another tsunami in sumatra

  • no it wont. its smaller.

  • rite now it is it didnt even exist over 80 years ago so in another 100 years or 200 years imagine how big it will be... again... go look at up to date video's and pictures of it rite now its not that small but this event happens over and over again there are other accounts of it happening 100's of years befor the last eruption

  • No, read Capt. Lindeman's diary and the other accounts (see URL link at bottom of description box).

The ship was anchored in Lampong Bay near Telok Betong, not out in deep water. The wave reached them before they could even make it out to deep water.

  • In the scene itself, the ship was not in deep water.

Capt. Lindeman had gone down to the hold to tell the passengers that the ship can't dock at Telok Betong and would have to sail out to sea (deep water).

But when he went upstairs, the soundings indicated that the wave (tsunami was not in their vocabulary at the time) was fast approaching. They did not have time to go out to sea (deep water).

It may only have appeared to be deep water because of the circumstances.

  • Yep. Knowledgable and brave captain.

I saw this on Discovery channel about a year ago. I found it quite hard to watch to be honest. A lot of death and destruction was inflicted on some people who had gone there to make a new life for themselves.

  • i watch this on discovery channel awesome

  • anyone know that tune that's played whilst the ship is going over the wave?

  • most documentaries, movies, and games make their own music, so there would be no name probably.

However i think it IS on the dvd soundtrack

  • You're right. The movie credits only list "Composer Tim Atack" and no specific names were given for each music piece.

He did a fantastic job though. His music pieces fit the scenes perfectly. The music for this particular scene is very moving. Captain Lindeman had said to the passengers that he couldn't look at his own life to save them, but as he brought the ship over the wave, the music sounded like angels singing, as if to help him. So beautiful!

  • i love this scene, the music is incredible

  • Fantastic movie, i watched it today and have to say that BBC done nice piece of job to make it. It shows perfectly how spectacular explosion that was it. In the place of old volcano now growing next (5 meters every year !!) and it everybody know that this catastrofic will be repeat in the futur, thanks 4 your upload, rate 5/5 of course

  • ...OMG !!! is that it ? NO MORE ???

what a great show !!!! had me more enthralled with every clip....and then ...it stops..!!!!

no more ??... guess i'll have to order this from somewhere...awesome and thank you for posting this,,its appreciated

  • Wait! Hold on! There's three more! I'm uploading them as fast as I can!

If you want to get it, I bought it from Amazon UK - NOT the regular Amazon. The US Amazon website doesn't sell it.

You can buy it under the title Krakatoa: The Last Days for about 4.5 pounds or under the title Krakatoa: Volcano of Destruction for about 12 pounds - that comes with an extra documentary which you can see at the Discovery Channel website. I bought the cheaper one as you might well guess!

  • BTW, thanks for the post! Editing the clips took quite a bit of time!
