The lighting of your video is perfect! Like the sepia-colored photographs from the Ragtime period. Thank you for a beautiful composition, and fine heart-felt performance.
you seem to write some very decent rags.. i'm curious as to where you draw a lot of your inspiration from? I've tried to write stuff.. but I dont think Im good enough yet.. lol cause I get to certain parts and get completely stumped on a chord or even the fact that sometimes I can't put what I hear in my head to the keys.. keep up the good work though!
@LudwigVonKoopa64 I honestly believe that Keenlyside is drawing freely from the entire composition output of Scott Joplin, his collaborators, James Scott, and Joseph Lamb. He also has some novelty pieces, but this particular piece draws quite admirably on all three of the classic ragtime composers (Joplin, Scott, Lamb) to the near exclusion of everything else.
Very Nice! Im jelous..... It might just be me but I heard a touch of Scott's Fig Leaf Rag in there. But than again what rag isnt similar to a Joplin piece in some way..... Youre cute too ; )
@tomclemans yes I agree with your comment, and also very much like your Blake's Grand March, I suffered with the full version on piano back in the early 1960's and
although now can no longer read music, still play it sometimes on the organ, albiet
have changed parts to my own liking, found Max through your postings, Thanks,
A masterpiece. I'm touched listening to this wonderful ragtime.

@stuartsa Sure, but Scott Joplin is ragtime, and it's therefore impossible 2 make rags that aren't similar 2 his!

@Ragtime95 I mentioned novelty compositions. They take the form of rags but have nothing of his classic rags' melodic appeal.

BachScholar thinks this is one of the greatest expressive rags ever written and who could disagree with that !

@43Meyrick1 Yeah, I also watched that video, he puts it under the class of Joplin's rag 'Solace', I have to agree also :P

I can see you already have your future planned?? xD
By the way, did you make sheet music for this?
CooCurrent 1 year ago
@CooCurrent I guess so. :P And yes I did! It's available, along with 9 other pieces, in my 2nd folio. If you're interested, let me know!

Wow, Max, both the composition and performance are extremely impressive! The smile at the end is adorable. :D
BTW, I like both the lighting and the camera angle. They accentuate (in a good way!) the intimate mood of the piece. :)

Wow! Fantastic rag. And I like the mood lighting - everyone does bright! ;-)

Nothing the "old masters" wrote was better - at least in my ears. One of my "favorites" now. Thanks for sharing! :-)

Nice work. The lighting and camera angle actually help I think. Made me feel like I was sitting there by the piano listening.

Man, you seriously just need to keep composing. Stop any other activities besides piano, your goin places.
