A.J. My question is which size do I pick? I don't want the slideshow to be viewed on a mobile device but want it viewed on any personal computer (PC or MAC) with the same high quality of images as in Lightroom. Also how do you then send it to a friend? (or is that another video??) Thanks!
@entyce66 - Lightroom was designed specifically for photographers and their workflow. Photoshop is the tool for image manipulation. Lightroom will handle sorting images, editing which includes crops, tonal changes, white balance & sharpening (among others). Photoshop is the tool you need to composite two or more images together. Lightroom is not a replacement for Photoshop, but software designed for a singular purpose.
Hey AJ, Is there a way you can add more than one song to a slideshow. I don't see that option. I have a 10 min slideshow so I would like to have at least 3 songs.Thnaks
I am having the same "blurry" problem. The images look great in lightroom but after I send the export, they only look sharp if it's a small 3x3 slideshow. When I expand to full screen, everything is blurred. Any suggestions?
I know theres a cheap version of lightroom 3 and the full version of lightroom 3 is it the latta that has the video function only as here in the uk the student package of lightroom is £65 and the other is over £100+ so is it the latta ? that has the video option.. i was thinking of purchaseing from amazon.co.uk
@nicenoughphil - student versions of Adobe software have all the same functions as the retail copies. Yes, you would have the export video function if you purchase an academic version of Lightroom.
@Obosi123 - What screen resolution is your Mac? If the images burned are a higher resolution then you're seeing a bit of distortion from the downsampling to fit.
When you say the quality isn't good, can you describe in a little more detail? My first thought is the output size of the image, next would be the amount of sharpening.
@Obosi123 Thank You AJ, the mac's screen resolution are very fine, the image burned are definitly a high res. Should'nt I burn the high res for a slide show? Pls advice futher of better still if you have any tutorial or link pls do let mw know. Thanks for your time.
@Obosi123 Hmmm... without seeing your screen, I can only guess at what is the causing the issue. Still, are the images too blurry? Are they too pixelated? Maybe the level of sharpening used was too high. I don't use any special settings to output for a slideshow.
@ajwood2001@ajwood2001 I'm running into the same problem Obosi123's experiencing. Whether I target raw files, PSD's or TIFF's in my catalog, when I export to video the images are 'soft', blurry. Everything looks spectacular in Preview; but the exports are truly lame (in my opinion). I would provide you examples (loaded to my server) but it seems yt doesn't allow posts that include URL's?
Hi A.J. thank you for your prompt response. In regards to yuor response, does that mean that i cannot upload it to any other site? Like the ones i mentioned there like Facebook and stuff.
I had heard of the FotoMagico but wasnt sure where to look for it or if my computer came with it.
TY for the info and looking forward to your lightroom 3 for begginers tut :) and any other photo retouching vids too.
@Grayita - sorry I wasn't clear. Yes, the video you export from Lightroom can be uploaded to any site that supports the video file. I have used the videos on FB before, and suspect MySpace wouldn't be an issue.
You would have to purchase FotoMagico as it's not native Apple software.

AJ, i have been watching some of your videos as of today. Question for you: do you have any Lightroom 3 for begginers video/tut? i am new to Lightroom 3 : /
I am pretty excited about it but do not know where to start or like the main features.
I love your tuts so far. Keep it up
Oh btw, in this tut i wanted to know if one can export the video to a website like myspace, fb, webpage (e.g) ??? TY :)
@Grayita within Lightroom there is not a direct export to YouTube, however, you can manually upload a slideshow movie using YouTube uploader. If you want a software solution and are on a Mac, FotoMagico 2.5 has Lightroom support AND direct YouTube uploading.
Thank you for the compliments on my videos. Yes, I will be adding additional content in the future for beginners.

Hi Aj
Can i burn may slideshow onto a dvd, i have Lr2 and i also have an iDVD software on mac, whats the best preset to have a very sharp image?
Many Thanks.
Obosi123 1 year ago
@Obosi123 - When using LR2 the export options for a Slideshow are PDF or JPEG only. You could burn those onto data DVD, but not for TV viewing.
Regarding sharpening, I tend to use stronger settings for screen images than I do for print.
