He is also part of The Sandman comic, I believe.

@Hallase In Neil Gaiman's Sandman, Dr. Destiny got his powers from Morpheus's ruby. After being locked in Arkham's Basement for at least 20 years, he inherits a magic amulet from his mother and escapes. At the same time, Morpheus escapes from activity and shows up and the Justice League International, scaring the crap out of everybody. Epic battle ensues, ruby is destroyed returning Morpheus to fool power, Morpheus forgives Dr. Destiny, and returns him to Arkham.

Oh, and J'onn eats Oreos.
