  • You should hear this with the gun shots at 33 1/3 speed. We still have this 45 at my mother home.

  • @spokanetomcat1

All we ever did was play the Beatles songs backward

    Thanks Hwaj5300

  • Hwaj300,...you don't need that sort of stick for, what I think is a job very well done. Only looked this up as I had made an audio cassette, oh, 15 years ago of some great old R'nR numbers and this was on it. Thanks for a fine post anyway.

  • @varfurile1

  • It's facinating seeing the Lyrics, and noticing that obviously.. the lead had trouble pronouncing the Western character names in Rhythm, lol! Great old song, thanks!

  • @teddibearsworld

Thanks to you and thanks to my sister Carol who made this one

  • saludos desde tijuana............

  • I dedicate this to my husband. Just got the Western Channel oncore for him on

The Dish and he has been in front of the TV ever since it came on.

  • Love the Olympics and old school.

  • @thegmantube

Thanks and thanks for favoring this one

    Hwaj5300

  • This was the first record I ever bought. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

  • @Oldglos

    Your Welcome

    Good memories

    Hwaj5300

  • Re my earlier mention of the Beatles, another Olympics song, "Hully Gully" was one of their big numbers, during their ballroom and nightclub days.

  • I've always been a Beatles nut, fascinated with their origins. For kids in Liverpool to get their hands on records like this, in the Fifties, must have been a huge deal.

  • @Pithecanthropus2483

For anyone to get their hands on this is a huge deal ...(that's my opinion)

    Thanks for your comment

    Hwaj5300

  • Part two : Wellllll, Mister Dillon, he rode on that ol’ Cochise Jim Hardie, Jim Bowie and Sugarfoot. They all have guns and will travel Give me back my boots and saddle. (Chorus) Here's the story of the circle Wagon Train because A broken arrow has broken my heart. Jefferson draws with his restless gun, All died, my baby and the fight was won. (Chorus and fade out)

  • Great old song !!!

I beg your pardon, though; I believe some of your lyrics are incorrect; especially with the names of Jeremy Roller and Jefferson Thomas; those 2 names do not exist in Western TV lore... I'll try and post them in revers order, so it's easier to read...

  • This 1958 hit record by the Olympics was probably in every Juke Box in most major Cities and played on Hot Rod Car Radios nationally. The lyrics mention many of the TV Westerns that were popular at that time. Great sound to fast dance to.

    Ron--Highway Stars Magazine

  • @rvictor64

    Thanks Ron

Olympics had a few hits I really liked

    Hwaj5300

  • You're so right paransan. This hit record by the Olympics in 1958, was probably in every Juke Box in most major cities and played loud on Hot Rod Car Radios nationally. The lyrics mention many of the popular TV Westerns of that era. Great sound to fast dance to. Ron--Highway Stars Magazine

  • Wow! After all these years, I finally know what ALL the lyrics are!! Thanks for posting them in the video. A lot of the lyrics I could not ever make out and I've heard this song many times!!!

  • When I was a kid, seemed this was on the radio every time I got around one of the older guys hotrods...on the AM radio, and everybody dug it. The Olympics got a LOT of airplay down in South Texas, and had a big influence on the chicano sounds.

  • @paransan

I guess i was a younger one too.... but listened to top100

Have no knowledge of the influence on "the Chicano Sound"

    Thanks for the input

    Hwaj5300

  • i love those movies in the 50s..Jimmy stewart shooting the indians....Gary Cooper shooting the outlaws...john Wayne shooting ANYBODY.......im gonna cry

  • @teehonky

    Awhhh Please don't

    Hwaj5300

  • @hwaj5300 .....youre right ...pilgrim

  • Love this post, and especially love the words and images. This was the Olympics' first (and biggest) hit in 1958 for the Arvee label (#8 on Billboard's pop charts, #7 R&B). Glad you included the words, because I never understood them all until now. Do remember a good many of those old Westerns. The McCord I remember was Jason McCord (the character Chuck Conners played on "Branded").

  • Hey Will

Great hearing from you since my sister made this for me before she signed on to the tube I will be sure to let her know how much you enjoyed it.

    Harry

  • I haven't heard this one in over 40 years ! Oops ! Is my age showing ? Thanks for sharing.

  • dont forget lash-larue and johhy mack brown lol

  • Bravo, good job

  • This is the Olympic not the Coasters although both groups are from Los Angeles

  • Western movies are the best, my favourite actor is John (Think that is his first name) Steele

  • I know who you mean, and his name is Bob Steele. Around the time of the Cisco Kid, or before.

  • Ya, Bob Steele

  • I totally agree the Coasters and their original name The Robin(smokey joes cafe)spawned some huge hits.Yakety Yak.Charlie Brown,Little Egypt just to mention a few.Great novelty act who still perform today with about three different groups all with an original member calling themselves The Coasters..

  • Kind of a whos who of the late 50,s tv when the horse opera was king.Always loved the LA based olympics who I once thought would be as big as another west coast novelty song group The Coasters.

  • Not Quite

I purchased the (coasters Greatest hits)

It is a double cd. I purchased it just for one song and I was surprised to find all the hits that they had. I believe before they were coasters they were the Robbins

Both groups had a novelty twist to there songs

    Thanks for commenting

  • Hey thanks for including the lyrics! Good job!!

  • This is a good try- but has many errors in the lyrics.

  • I always enjoy this song because it reminds me of those westerns we used to watch. That was our frontier back in the 50s & early 60s, today the kids are into outer space movies, Aliens, Star Wars etc. But for me, give me that old time western with it's villians and heroes. It charted in 1958 at the # 8 spot on the billboard charts. Wyatt Earp, Cheyenne, Maverick, Cochise, Jim Bowie, Sugarfoot, Bat Masterson just to name a few at the time. Today all we got is Clint Eastwood, thank god for him !!

  • Klasse Song! Danke für's posten

  • This one have a strong resemblance to Ray Smith's "Rocking Bandit". Might been that Ray was inspired by The Oplympics or was it the other way round?

  • nice post! Remember watchin' all those shows..

In Black and White, a term my kids don't understand.

  • I never knew the lyrics. Great post!

  • I hear someting differnt in the lyrics of the 3rd verse... "Welll, Mr Dillon keeps rollin' round ?????" Anybody else hear that?

  • Thanks for bringing back good memories. ***** Bayonne Joe

  • I would say that 99% of the people who ever hearrd this awsome song have never been able to understand what Walter Ward was saying ,Which made this song even more of an enigma!

  • I know I never did. ;) This song always reminds me of road trips I took as a kid. It was on a cassette of do-wop songs that my dad would play in the car every time we went on vacation, and it used to make me laugh.

  • I remember this song, though not a personal favorite, but good to sing-along to...nice job on all the graphics, well within the theme of the song. Thx.

  • Nice and creative way to post a low tech interesting vid and of course get this great song to go with it.

  • Let me tell you something. I'm only 30 years old and I love music like this. The song, and video is so much fun. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Farrah You Asstuteness Astounds Me Great Share!

  • Thanks for your kind words

  • GREAT FUN MUSIC!

  • My Parents, Lucy & Pat DiMauro, used to have this song in their 45 record collection

  • Great song! Walter a good singer! Saw them in 59-60 in Hollywood, at the movies! They bought me a coke and poocorn, Gave meal a half dollar, and I even got to keep the change.! Those were the good ol days! PLAY it LOUD!!

  • Cool videoclip! I've always liked this song (and Western movies, too) :) Thanks so much for posting this and the lyrics.

  • Featuring Walter Ward on lead. This was their first (and biggest)hit on Billboard's charts, reaching #8 in 1958. Thanks for posting this fave of mine (and the lyrics.)
