Of course she doesn't look like a principal. She was just 16 years old when she danced this. This "Coppélia" is a graduation performance by the Paris Opera School students. And the student that plays Franz in this production is Mathieu Ganio, who was appointed étoile only 4 years after this performance.

The soloist is Charline Giezendanner (In last year study when filmed)

The company dancing here is not the Paris Opera Ballet, it's the Paris National Ballet School (where most dancers from POB are from). They were still students. Very few of them are accepted in the company though, usually only 3 each year, sometimes less.

This performance is from 2000 or 2001. Mathieu Ganio (who is now an "Etoile", the equivalent to a principal, at the POB) and Charline Giezendanner is also in the company, in the hierarchy she's now a "sujet"

to balletgirl 11 : it's not weird, she's not a principal, she was just a student at the Paris Opera National Ballet school, and she was 16, so yeah, her technique was therefore not perfect yet, nothing weird about it.

Her name is Charline Giezendanner, she danced Swanilda in Coppélia when she was in first division of Paris' s Ecole de danse, with Matthieu Ganio as Franz. The DVD is available, zone 0 (universal).

What? a principal dancer is just the highest rank you can be in a company. So anyone can be one. You just have to be really good. And this dance is for a principal dancer!

My favotite Ballet, I was Swanilda when I was 13 years old.She is explaing her boyfriend fell in love with a doll, then she gets in the doll house owned by an old man, and she puts herself in the place of the doll, the old man wants to kill her boyfriend so he can take his soul and give life to the doll,and, as Swanilda takes the doll's place, the old man thinks he gave life to a doll.GREAT PERFOMANCE.TY

There's this one dance from this ballet that I saw in Princess Tutu. Ahiru said it was called Waltz Of The Dolls. The reasons I want to see it is because Pike didn't do all of it, and it might be good coreogrify for an aria about a robot, called Le Oiseaux Dans La Charmille.
