prohibiting marijuana is sending the WRONG message to young people, it's telling them that civil liberties mean nothing, the Constitution means nothing, it's telling them that we will spend billions trying to stop marijuana but hardly nothing trying to stop rapists, pedophiles and other violent criminals. Marijuana prohibition is fascist and only continues the cycle of greed, corruption and injustice in this country.
Legalize anything that doesn't hurt others directly. Make it so people have freedom and the right to do what they want. I am a Libertarian Republican. And the Dems want to take us to Socialism on an economic level and on a Social level they want power.
Is that really Obama over there raising his hand? After he personally said we should decriminalize it in 2004? Like someone else said, this shows he's nothing but a puppet. He's just lying so he can appeal to the majority of the studio and TV audience watching the debate.
I know I completely missed that during the debate. What a piece of crap. And Edwards telling us it sends the wrong message after he bangs his coworker.
These are the people that tell us how to conduct our private lives....
If the legalizing of marihuana is "sending the wrong signal" to Americans, as John Edwards puts it, what kind of message has his immoral example sent to Americans? Thank God we didn't have to hear from that dolt, Biden, he's an embarrasment to America and surely would've put his foot into his mouth like he always has.
Sen. Dodd is right, we're jailing pot users while the real criminals roam free. What ever happened to progressive government in America? We've been taken as fools by the lot!
I love Obama but he reminds me of a 4th grader in class looking around to see how many other students are raising their hands, he kinda gives a half assed hand raise too...
These guys are nothing but puppets. The opinion of not only decriminalization but legalization is probably more than 50% in favour in the u.s. and is continually growing. There will be a time when democrats and even the most hard headed republicans will come to their senses and realize the economic impact that legalizing and regulating marijuana will have on their country.
So, the right message is that it's ok for gov't to control people's lives and their behavior in private? It's OK for gov't to regulate what adults can and can't buy so long as they're not hurting anyone??
OH YEAH, that's sending a GREAT anti-freedom message. Bite me, Edwards. Piece of shit.
These brainwashed politicians still don't get it: You DON'T need to illegalize something just to send the message that it's a bad choice or something you must be careful with. Look at cigs and alcohol.
but its ok for the prescription pushers to say your kids hyper lets put them on ritalin .or you have anxiety so here start takin xanax or you must be depressed so here is some prozac to change your mind or how about your in pain here is some methadone or oxycontin and if that dont work let me know ill up your dose or put you on something stronger thats all fine. to me the doctors and the drug companies are the gateway to drugs this is what ive been going through since age 13 but i cant smoke pot
Yeah look at those fucking idiot democrats, its clear to see who they answer to, get out of the left-right paradime, corpartism is and has always been the enemy of the people and it controls the left and right through the central banks

Just keep the god damn system where it is damnit. It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy to get weed. It's sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo easy to smoke it without having to even think about police. Oh and any other drugs. You want to get fucked up so much that you don't know your hand from a tree, delirious to anything, get out of the states.
A big reason why people are against smoke came from a clever idea of the war on drugs to discredit the anti vietnam war people (hippies) and to simply distract from the war.. Dividing Americans against themselves, making them mistrust, fear and wage war against their fellow citizens: This is what the "War on Drugs" was meant to do and it does it all too well.
Don't you think it's strange we can outlaw a plant, yet alcohol is a much more serious drug and that's okay to use. Don't you think we should change these draconian drug laws once and for all. I mean this is sending a bad message to the young people. We look like a bunch of morons. Why would they listen to us about anything.
Well said.. what a prick!! It's inhumane to lock people up for substances of any kind. It takes away from freedom and personal liberty and infringes upon no one else's rights.. Also a cheap medication that should not even be prescription (no drugs should HAVE to be prescription)
I'm for legalization 100% and I don't like Edwards but his personal life has no bearing on his politcal life and its a cheap shot to use it as such. Instead, I'd rather attack him for thinking the govt has a right to determine what is a good message for MY kid. How dare the govt scare our children into thinking we are criminals that are going to jail. It doesn't matter that jobs are so limited for smokers and yet so needed to support a family but that we still manage to do just that.
"Sending the wrong message" yeah sure but thats the smallest factor. Cops being killed over marijuana busts, homes being raided for growing this plant. It's like alcohol, in one sense, its fine for moderation but for alcoholics its a serious matter. We could be saving lifes with this plant. Before any discussions on marijuana these days they seriously have to do there research in the reasons for legalization and for illegalization then you tell me what you think.
So.. Where does that swan head get his numbers from? From 800 thousand, to 2 million inmates. Ok. Thats great. State from when to fucking when instead of trying to sound smart. Mexico is trying that de-criminalizing of marijuana, and all its doing is keeping people from killing eachother more. Fuck druggies. Lets stand for de-populating the united states! (Very good idea)
Surprisingly enough I'm not a toilet salesman. Who doesn't love toilets? Without them we would be living in our own filth. Maybe thats something you would enjoy but not me. Decriminalization would benefit everyone, even "ignorant POS" like me. Maybe you should try rageaholics anonymous if you get so mad at a comment on you tube. Let me know if you need a sponsor.
Well, to tell you the truth, I wasn't that angry. I quietly wrote my thoughts and posted them. No yelling, screaming, raping, pillaging involved! Toilets are amazing! And yes Decriminalization would be fucking sweet. In the future, try to not post one liners such as "You're a dumb fuck" cuz no one wants to read such a vague, annoying, waste of space.
Some of that rage was supposed to go to FilmPA by the way... I was sober so I just flamed both of you at once. Another reason decrim is welcomed by me.. No dry spells
if pot was legal then smokers could get a job instead of jail time. I think that yes pot is the gateway drug but only because teens have to go to dealers to get it. I would rather teens get pot than alcohol but I'd rather alcohol than pot if also exposed to hard drugs. I am a non-smoker that was married to a smoker and had to associate with dealers and feel like a criminal while trying to build a family just because I loved a smoker. The drug war was meant to divide us and it did.
yeah better start supporting Libertarians like Ron Paul if you want abortion to be illegal again, that's what he really cares about, not legalizing marijuana. he simply uses that to appeal to young ignorant voters whose views he doesn't really support
@Andrew32488 Yeah it was 2 years ago I made that comment. The marijuana issue is really not a left-right issue--that's why Ron Paul and Kucinich see eye to eye on it. Presidential primaries are an excellent time to get people's attention on this issue, and given that we will only be seeing a Republican presidential primary this time... there's a lot of opportunity through someone like Ron Paul to get public attention on this issue IMO. With enough focus... maybe Obama's 2nd term it'll happen?
@Spudst3r@Spudst3r Liberals favor more freedom for the individual, and 72% of all liberals in a Gallup poll were for legalizing marijuana, so they agree with libertarians on social liberty issues. But overall, most Democratic candidates have moved into a more populist, Big Government-leaning on issues as have both parties, so "mainstream" candidates have shied away from marijuana reform. But yeah, I think the only candidates willing to bring this to the table are Ron Paul and Gary Johnson.
i dont think so. Its called politics for personal agenda's. Dont forget mr president is still controlled by old fart congress. Hence why no one should listen to a thing these people say they "claim" will do.
What kind of person uses the freddom and liberty of human beings to send a signal. Locking people into long prison terms to send a message is Satanic.
Hey, hang on.... I reckon I was thinking the same thing as Obama.... "What was the question? Is there anyone who doesn't not disagree with not decriminalizing marijuana?"
.....Please raise your hand.
Either that, or he just wasn't listening. Hands up everyone who always listens to everything that is said. What, no-one? Then please stop casting stones. Thankyou
