Nice Vid an additional tip! If you cut two slices and slid them up the shaft before heating the ends . Your fishing line would sit snug against the bobber in two spots making the bobber more sensitive. Str8ts rules
Clip the tip of the straw at a slight angle, and then cut a 1/16th inch strip, which by virtue of the elongated shape, is larger than the straw’s diameter, and will slide onto the straw to use for fastening the fishing line. Read more details at survivaltekDOTcom/?p=1851
If you forget your lighter, just use something else that's hot enough to melt the plastic edges together... a match, car cigarette lighter, hot tail pipe, magnifying lens... otherwise, use a stick instead as a float.
Excellent video. Clear, simple but personalized (first instruction video that I've watched with steel drum background music). I love how you put it into practice at the end. Thanks for posting. I'm going to see if they work for ice fishing tomorrow. They seem very sensitive and because of the narrow width of the straw perhaps less likely to get hung up on ice chunks like tradition floats. Thanks again.
I've been looking for simple, light duty, highly sensitive bobbers for crappie fishing, I looked at "straw bobbers". They fetch about $1.00 a piece. The porcupine "Quill Bobber" fetches even more. Then I remembered this video. I watched and learned. I got out my tools and put your knowledge into practice. It works like a charm. It's still January. I haven't been able to try it on crappie yet but I'm sure in March I will keep more money in my pocket and put more crappie in the pan. Thanks Friend
@runincool01 - Thank you for your comment on the soda straw bobber... I'm pleased that you tried it out. I'd love to see the results of your fishing experience. :-)
@runincool01 idk as of what structure you fish around but for the crappie here, i just throw my bait out fishing in around 10-15 feet of water and just let my lure sink a little then use a slow retrieve. usually have a crappie every cast

Hmmm... in what respect? Did it not float? Did you have difficulty attaching the line? Did you not see the initial fish strike? More details please.
