  • when I was younger I never realised this was Tom Hanks

  • It's sad that no one makes mermaid movies anymore.

  • They made such a cute couple when they were young '' sniff ''

  • john candy is so funny in this movie i miss john candy

  • Ralph talk to him...*slap in head*...listen to your father

  • @babe3074 According to the DVD audio commentary on this film, that scene was the impetus for the film "Parenthood" which would reunite Babaloo Mandel, Lowell Ganz, Brian Grazer, and Ron Howard again!

  • ASS HOLE WHY WOULD YOU TRY TO DROWN NO MERMAID WILL SAVE YOU CRAZY PERSON.

  • As a child from the 90's I remember watching this movie for the first time with my mother. Me and my mother used to stay up late watching late night films and this was one of my favorites. Now I look at her and look at me, changing from a very young child into a 20 year old college student..... how time flies, I sometimes get a little emotional just thinking about it :')

  • I believe I'n mermaids my aunt says she seems one as a child I believe her but then I'm second guessing I use to have dream bout them but not anymore

  • I love this

  • Who plays the little kid mermaid?

    And thr two boys?

  • Love this film. Tom Hanks...all time greatest. U can never go wrong with him in any movie.

  • omg dat is just so sweet love at at childhood destined to be together aww my grandmaw before she died swore she saw a mermaid once rip but i love mermaids and i do believe mermaids and other stuff are real cause if God doesnt want you to find them you wont they'll keep hidden and who's to say God didnt make things like mermaids cause everyday they're finding new species of things so i believe it IS possible

  • @freecherokeespirit really wow where did ur grandma see? do u know?

    message me plz

  • Comment removed

  • @freecherokeespirit I too believe the existence of mermaids is probable. However, I also believe that they can only exist with advanced genetic engineering.

  • @psychokinrazalon explain advanced genetiv engineering you mean like annamatronics?

  • @freecherokeespirit Are you aware of how Dr. Frankenstein made the monster, by taking human body parts from various corpses and connecting their muscular, artery, and other systems together? That same process could be used to make a mermaid by replacing a person's lower body with a giant aquatic mammal's tail (dolphin, whale, etc) and connecting their various systems together. There are two complications with this, however.

  • @psychokinrazalon ah yes i see what you mean and I dont know exactly what complications there are with those theories(which you probably do ;p) but i know there could probably be alot of risks to those which scientists do not know of yet

  • @freecherokeespirit I ran out of room in my other comment. 1. We have yet to learn how to merge human DNA with fish DNA. 2. Making a fish's internal organs work with a human's would be tricky.

  • @psychokinrazalon yea i see what you mean for one humans and animals and second fish is water animals so that makes it more tricky

  • @freecherokeespirit i agree with you very much.

  • @MusicJesusHappines epic what?

  • LOL "WHERE ARE MY CHERRIES? If I don't get my cherries in five minutes, you're gonna be fired, then you starve and you die!"

    sheesh xD

  • after all these mythical movies about mermaids and fairies im still convinced that somewhere out there they can be real. i love this movie!

  • Reminds me of childhood, I love the 80's :)

  • Still one of my favorite movies. This will always be a classic!

  • cbnuimwnbv

  • It's perfect for one of Pooh's adventures made by DisneyDaniel93 with the guest stares from my profile. And the evil guest star.

  • Bowser, Mistress Nine, Bowser Jr., Ranamon, Joe, Shark, General Parvo, The Groomer, Naraku, Oogie Boogie, Dr. Facilier, Profeser Screweyes, Rasputin, Shere Kahn, Drake, Pete, The Grand Duke of Owls, Carface, Killer, Makunga, Hades, Captain Hook, Sheldon J. Plankton, Scar, Lord Rothbart, Prince John, Ursula, Jafar, Maleficent, Myotismon, Brer Fox, Brer Bear, Cat R. Waul, Ratigan, Ozzy, Strut, Tai Lung, Steele, and Team Rocket (Jessie, James, and Meowth,)

  • ...

What's wrong with the movie? It's like...

fast slow fast slow fast slow..

  • omg thats really weird when i was a toddler and now i've LOVED mermaids and when i was little i through my binkis in to the ocean for the little mermaids and my name is madison!!!!

  • @SuperMusicfreak17 lol I heard that because of this movie (where she takes the name Madison from "Madison Ave"), Madison became a girl's name, a popular one actually :)

  • Where can I get this on DVD

  • I hasardly found back this VHS ... i was asking myself like "Splash ... what is it ... i know i know it but ... oh, this is this film, with the man and the mermaid :d

  • Was this before or after Philadelphia and Forrest Gump??

  • @LeeonDeeon It was WAY before Philadelphia and Forrest Gump!

  • Comment removed

  • @LeeonDeeon. Tom Hanks looks a little younger in this movie. He got older in those two films you just mentioned. "Splash" was 1984, while Philadelphia and Forrest Gump were from the 1990s.

  • 4:27, before 9/11... Tragic day :(

  • classic. they don't make movies like this anymore.

  • o i remember this show but i forgot the name n was looking 4 it to watch again....thnx 4 tha vid

  • This movie seriously influenced my childhood, i was CONVINCED mermaids were real and that if i wished really hard i would turn into a mermaid XD

Aw, it's such an amazing film though :D x

  • LOL, I used to be obsessed w/ this movie in the early 90's and it is responsible for my childhood desire to be a mermaid. Really badly. Awesome movie.

  • " your father called, he wants you to call him back"

" our father passed away about 5 years ago... do you remember that?"

"...right............SHOULD i GET HIM FOR YOU??"

  • did you you know Disney literally STOLE this idea to make ' The mLittle Mermaid' they just changed the mermaid's hair to red to avoid copyright!!, Bastards

  • @cartergirl3of3 How could they avoid copyright if the two movies were made by Disney? Granted, "Splash" was released under the "Touchstone" label, so Disney purists wouldn't have their eyebrows raised seeing very "adult" things on screen, but it is owned by Disney!

  • @ofrah1 (cont'd) Are you basically saying Disney should've sued itself? Because that would be stupid!

List of reasons for Ariel's red hair

    1. Disney was releasing a made-for-tv sequel of "Splash" with Amy Yasbeck as the mermaid, Madison, and the animated film, The Little Mermaid, couldn't get greenlighted originally because it would seem redundant to release two mermaid films at the same time.

    2. Red is an easier color to darken than yellow and it complements her green tail well.

  • @ofrah1 3. If Ariel was blonde, people would think it's Daryl Hannah in the animated flesh. 4. Her hair color would differentiate with Madison's and the animated film would stand on its own without innately comparing the film to Splash.

  • @ofrah1. It was good to hear that the name Madison became an official girl's name shortly after this movie's success.

  • this move is the best.

  • "WHERE ARE MY CHERRIES"!!!!!

I haven't seen anyone so worked up about cherries before.

  • up if this is where you fell in love with Daryl Hannah she's hot here

  • 19 people died from starvation.

  • Daryl Hannah was THE sex goddess of the eighties.

  • @pdonster2 GOT that right honey!!!!

  • @pdonster2 No she wasn't, lol look her face closely its weird she looks like a man O.o

  • @pdonster2 before she went NUTS!

  • @pdonster2 ...even with one eye she kicks ass and still looks sexy (kill bill) :)

  • @pdonster2 LOL, she looked pretty hot (considring her age) in Kill Bill too :D

  • It was brown cause it was in the past

  • why did it go brown then color

  • @WintersFinalstand Sepia then colour to suggest past events moving towards the present day. Think 'The Wizard Of Oz'.

  • I lament the "death" of Tom Hanks as a comedic actor. I wish he would have done more comedy.

  • wow 2 mins worth of intro with all the names da rest of dis vid wasn't action filled or hapy or sad!

  • Jerry, where are the cherries?!

  • @BeatlesFetish09 It rhymes too lol Jerry cherries!:)

  • I still walk down to the ocrean and try to drown myself to get rescued by a mermaid....but every time some fat new yorker pulls me out before she can get to me....this had got to stop!
