What if on the bootloader screen where you are to begin the flash process you have an error such as mem_map blank Service Req'd? Do you know if this can fix that?
@jonesaaron88 Did you try holding X? or was it the up arrow? while loading. Do the one that takes you to the picture of the Android and the ! and then press the magnifying glass button. You'll see a bunch of options. You want to wipe data and cash, then reboot.
@DjMctwist2 You mean the wipe data and cache? If you are bootlooping, this is the only way I know of so that you can stop bootlooping. Don't worry, all your contacts/settings and stuff are backed up via Google and will come back when you relogin.
When I reboot my d2 by holding power and X, it brings me to the same screen as yours, then when I hit the magnifing glass button on my keyboard, it doesnt take me anywhere. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks
One question. How did you learn this stuff? It's not like the stupid cell phone companies are willing to be of any help. Idiots!! They'd rather make you spend more money on a new phone than save the earth from additional electronics pollution. Would love to know some good resources for rooting and unbricking IN GENERAL. Preferably not specific to particular phone models.
@graceoverall I didn't develop the process. I just found the info online, mostly in forums, and organized the info into something easier to comprehend by average folks.
well thanks alot, seriously, if this didnt work my next step would of been to run it over and claimed insurance, eitherway worked fine using a ubuntu 10.4 live cd i had laying around and my droid x, i dialed the *22899 number to reactivate and it got me right back on the network, i'll be looking through your other work for anything else i might find useful. once again thanks alot
ok but letss say i let it charge...an i get some progress, how accurate are u with using this method if i have windows an i download the ubuntu for linux?
is it anything you could do to help to save me from sending the phone off or if you dont know how to fix it could you possibly refer me to someone who does?

Does it only work with Linux?

@xerhoffx This method, yes... only Linux. If you have Windows, look into RSD Lite.

Right at the end of trying to wipe data / factory reset it says E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command and it's still bricked

@xerhoffx Might be too late, but wipe data and caches in stock recovery.

Great video, I was stuck at boot loader on my DX after a failed SBF using RSD lite. This method works much better.

@boogie7209 It hasn't failed on me yet, if that is what you are asking, but keep in mind, I have a D2 and not a DX.
kev0475 1 year ago
is it any way you could ask around for me an take what i have posted an put it out there?

@boogie7209 You can just go to XDA Developers forum and do that yourself.

@boogie7209 I'd charge your phone. I've heard than the phone won't let you do OTA update or flash if your phone is lower on juice. Try that first.
