  • Ok I'm running Ubuntu live cd an I run dosbf.sh an it loads the sbf file but then it says waiting for phone?

  • thanks man a real life saver!

  • bro LINUX IS THE BOSS lol, i am surprised to find instructions on doing this in my native os thanks lots.

  • What if on the bootloader screen where you are to begin the flash process you have an error such as mem_map blank Service Req'd? Do you know if this can fix that?

  • @fiaravau No clue. Sorry. Did you get the full SBF file or the system only SBF file?

  • I followed you step by step. and when i do the reboot, comes on to the black screen and the white M and stays there. What is the deal with my phone.

  • @jonesaaron88 Did you try holding X? or was it the up arrow? while loading. Do the one that takes you to the picture of the Android and the ! and then press the magnifying glass button. You'll see a bunch of options. You want to wipe data and cash, then reboot.

  • Does it only work with Linux?

  • @xerhoffx This method, yes... only Linux. If you have Windows, look into RSD Lite.

  • THANK YOU SOOO MUCH YOU SAVED MY PHONE!!!!! YOUR A GENIUS!!!

  • thanks for saving my phone. AGAIN!!

  • Right at the end of trying to wipe data / factory reset it says E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command and it's still bricked

  • @xerhoffx Might be too late, but wipe data and caches in stock recovery.

  • Great video, I was stuck at boot loader on my DX after a failed SBF using RSD lite. This method works much better.

  • THanks..I was stuck in the boot screen..I knew about holding x but had NO idea about the magnifying glass...I thought I was in trouble...THANKS

  • how do you reset it without erasing everything?

  • @DjMctwist2 You mean the wipe data and cache? If you are bootlooping, this is the only way I know of so that you can stop bootlooping. Don't worry, all your contacts/settings and stuff are backed up via Google and will come back when you relogin.

  • @DjMctwist2 transfer your stuff onto the sd card...then reset....

  • When I reboot my d2 by holding power and X, it brings me to the same screen as yours, then when I hit the magnifing glass button on my keyboard, it doesnt take me anywhere. Any ideas on what to do? Thanks

  • One question. How did you learn this stuff? It's not like the stupid cell phone companies are willing to be of any help. Idiots!! They'd rather make you spend more money on a new phone than save the earth from additional electronics pollution. Would love to know some good resources for rooting and unbricking IN GENERAL. Preferably not specific to particular phone models.

  • @graceoverall I didn't develop the process. I just found the info online, mostly in forums, and organized the info into something easier to comprehend by average folks.

  • well thanks alot, seriously, if this didnt work my next step would of been to run it over and claimed insurance, eitherway worked fine using a ubuntu 10.4 live cd i had laying around and my droid x, i dialed the *22899 number to reactivate and it got me right back on the network, i'll be looking through your other work for anything else i might find useful. once again thanks alot

  • @ospinajr82 Glad that it worked. Check out some of my other stuff at kimete dot com.

  • ok but letss say i let it charge...an i get some progress, how accurate are u with using this method if i have windows an i download the ubuntu for linux?

  • @boogie7209 It hasn't failed on me yet, if that is what you are asking, but keep in mind, I have a D2 and not a DX.

  • is it any way you could ask around for me an take what i have posted an put it out there?

  • @boogie7209 You can just go to XDA Developers forum and do that yourself.

  • is it anything you could do to help to save me from sending the phone off or if you dont know how to fix it could you possibly refer me to someone who does?

  • @boogie7209 I wouldn't know where to begin.

  • i have a serious problem..my droid x wont power on...i can only get into the bootloader but it says bootloader 30.04 Err: A5, 70, 70, 00, 1F MEM_MAP Blank Service Req'd Battery Low(this is blinking) Cannot Program(this is blinking as well) i have a droid x 2.2 it is rooted... i tried doing the rsd lite flash an at the part where it said please manually reboot this device i un plugged an tried to get it to come on but it wouldnt.. i believe i got into this when i dwnldd rom managr
  • @boogie7209 I'd charge your phone. I've heard than the phone won't let you do OTA update or flash if your phone is lower on juice. Try that first.
