The real truth about West Virginia is that of all 55 counties that withdrew from Virginia, 19 counties only had a 28% favorable vote for statehood, and 16 counties only had 70%, and the other 13 counties did not send representation to vote on statehood. West Virginia should have ben returned to Virginia during the reconstruction. If you say West Virginia is legitimately a state, then the Confederacy was legitimately a free nation.
