Wow. Talk about being there, being a piece of history. It's like being at Woodstock, or in Berlin when they tore down the wall (and Ray-gun had nothing to do with that. He was just an actor/opportunist with a good publicity department.)
In October 1977, he gae a FANTASTIC concert in Brussels at the SS Michael & Gudule Cathedral. The best ever ! The indicator lights one can see at the beginning are from his big sequence, the "Big Moog", sometimes called "The Wardrobe", in Brussels... :-)
Klaus Schulze has recorded over 100 albums (I believe) and I have only heard about 15 of them. Pure genius, I think "Timewind" and "Blackdance" are the greatest electronic albums ever!
@fretboardyoda Well, those albums are great, but I prefer Moondawn and Body Love of those times. I strongly recommend some things of the long-time colaboration with Peter Namlook "Dark side of the Moog", series. You will find many gems on that dozen of albums. The same with the extensive compilation La Electronique Vie, you should dig into it. Klaus is definitely a huge influence in the electronic music, unfortunately a bit underrated in comparison with Vangelis or Jean Michel Jarre, though...
I picked up "Bodylove" (01) on vinyl recently, and I have "Moondawn" on CD, totally great. I have one or two of the "Dark Side of the Moog" series, I need to dig out my stacks of CD's and listen again. Nothing the man has been involved in is substandard. I'm not a huge fan of the "Dome Event'" CD's, they are O.K though!
sort of disagree relegal, if he had stayed he wouldnt have developped his unique style.... ( pitty KS didnt keep his lanky fig lol!!!...too much sitting & playing I suppose )
does he use moog there do you know? his music is so psychedelic !!!!
@relegaldesigns1 It's not ahead of it's time..... the fact is, musically, the world has gone backwards..... it has become a "product" not a piece of music. which is why people like me, dropped out of the whole music biz thing, and just do one off compositions.
@phantasmagoria0no It's relatively easy. You need a background in music theory, know how to play a keyboard, be an extremely deep thinker and have a gazillion dollars for the equipment! :)
---and lots and lots and lots of practice and sampling!
Been a Schulze fan since the early 70's... People today seem not to have the patience required to let music "unfold"... bevviesanclips is right, no drugs required... music does it all! Thanks Klaus
@JeermynRex Yeah, right. This is for "For Barry Graves". I was wrong about Timewind. But has anyone else played it recently? First 2 min and around 8:20 - 8:40 sound very familiar.
Klaus Schulze is true genius and visionary. To create this masterpiece in 1975 and still sound like it came out in 2010 (35 years later!) is really extraordinary!
What is this track name? I know this is the 1975 album Timewind.
One more thing, I feel like it was remixed recently, but don't remember by whom. Can anyone help?
@ferserk The song is entitled ' For Barry Graves ', and is only available in Klaus' massive 50 disc set ' Ultimate Edition ', in a slightly longer version .
this man had always timeless ideas ...watch his steps in setting the track ...the result is amazing, clear analog sound ....i can´t believe it´s 33 years old
From the Lyndon Libraries in his (LBJ)own words, "Now Robert(McNamara), see if you could set up a private line in my bedroom, like the one, like the one...". To which Robert replies , "well,... well...." Lyndon interrupts,"I suppose its against the ...."to which Robert interrupts. "Mr President, i think that....."to which Lyndon interupts"I suppose not, its just that every damn time......."
Wonderful - and you got strong lugging all that analogue stuff about, lol - but the sound, well it was soo ahead of its time - it was years before Bomb the Base and especially Beloved ran with the whole trance thing during the 1990s.
My god, this is fabulous. I used to listen to Klaus growing up, reading Fafhrd & The Grey Mouser or Elric--the perfect background to fantasy. Who needs beer? Who needs drugs? This musik will transport you exactly where you want to go...
