  • He sounds like a plain British person to me..... >.<

  • uncle Arthur was a mummy's boy....tried with Sally...but finally back to him mum.....very sad end-of-story !!!

  • I came across this album, on cassette, in a music store in 1997. I was already way into Bowie so I thought it was the greatest thing ever.

  • this is from images 66-67 the one with the cartoon cover some werd songs on the album .still got the original .

  • i actually have this album on cassette tape i thought it was really funny most of it

  • The track´s from DAVID BOWIE Images 1966-1967 (Scarce 1973 US 'bonus pak' 21-track London label double LP set, features early Bowie tracks recorded in London during 1966/67, this album has never been reissued, promo stickered 'cartoon' illustrated gatefold picture sleeve with biographical details inside! BP628/9).

  • Very disturbing song. I used to listen to it from I was 5 years old. I´m almost 35 now.

  • I have this track on an album called (The World of David Bowie) it's the very first track on that particular album.

  • This song reminds me a bit of Arnold Lane.

  • uncle arthur touches children.

  • when i was like, six years old, my brother used to put on this song, and i used to gocrazy making all kinds of artwork and stuff.

    i miss those days...

  • This is great for the time. He just didn't know what his own appeal was.

  • @Ilhan257 Well I first heard this stuff on an album titled Starting Point,.. that was my introduction to this era. I just happened upon it while sifting through the Bowie section in a record store and decided to buy it ( having already gotten all the more famous albums ). I'd never heard any of these songs previously ( it's not like they were ever played on the radio or anything ). I still retain that old copy in my collection.

  • Id love bowie to come out with one of these Deram songs on a new tour... We are hungry men by a 60 year old bowie.

  • I know I'm the only one, but I think his first album was the best.

  • You are not the only one; but the others are all locked up with All The Madmen.

  • i think they're all good : )

    (except possibly tin-man... : /

  • @kittyprydekissme so do i! i like the rise and fall of ziggy stardust as well :)

  • @kittyprydekissme ME TO!!!!

  • The Deram Anthology: 1966-1968

    available from amazon

  • @jeddahjane or bitlord.

  • I have this album on CD, I absolutely ADORE it :)

  • He nicked it all from Syd Barrett - fair play!

  • yeah maybe, not completely certain about that

  • My baby niece is dancing to this. :)

  • Aurthur cant cook ! GO home Arthur

  • When did he dress like a pirate?

  • The Pirate dress was a for a promo video on "Rock On" a Danish music show. He sang the song "Rebel Rebel"

Source: What I do not know about Bowie, ain't worth knowing!!!

  • This song is really the story of my life!!! I heard it a lot when I was 0-5 years. Extremely visionary stuff. Bowie is an extraordinary genius of the most supreme imagination. A rare type of prophet.

  • You can really hear the influence of The Beatles on this. As with much of his subsequent stuff. Bowie's always been the man of a thousand faces but I think he truly found HIS voice on Low, Heroes and Ashes to Ashes. I think the song which encapsulates his quintessence most perfectly is probably Ashes to Ashes. That seems by far the most otherworldly and most Bowie-esque Bowie song.

  • if you like this bowie then check out the albums

    Early On (1964-1966)

    Deram Anthology 1966-1968

  • what?....this is bowie?....i'm more used to the glam stuff.....

  • Comment removed

  • uncle Arthur rocks!

  • its not rare its the first song of his first album

  • old david bowie folk music

  • Que marcado su acento inglés de esa primera época

  • superb

  • Bowie at his best. MMM well all most. The World of David Bowie album is definatly up there with Ziggy and Hunky Dory.

  • this is so 60's! I love bowie , but I can't listen to this album for too long.

  • You can get it on the album " Images 1966-1967

With 21 of his songs. The 21 tracks include the entirety of his 1967 debut album, plus seven stray songs from singles and sessions that were unreleased at the time. Possibly because it wasn't heard by many listeners until it was reissued in the early '70s during Bowie's ascent to stardom.

  • My band does a cover of this in the style of the Toy Dolls.

  • Can you give me a mp3 of this. I´m very interested !!!!

  • I first heard this song when I was 16, and I just screamed and screamed. It terrified me.

It still give me the creeps 20 years later. Brrrr..

  • why the hell would anyone be scared of this song?

  • Think about the story. That man, and his relationship with his Mother. What that man must be like. Urgh *shudder*

  • well yea but I mean it's also about forgiveness and realizing your mistakes. AND OMFG I JUST REALIZED WHAT YOU WERE TALKING ABOUT! my god I've been listening to this song for like a year too. I can't believe I never realized that. mabe it's just like he was a mamaa's boy or something. hopefully that's it.

  • Hopefully. But I doubt it. This is Bowie we're talking about.

I hope I haven't completley spoiled this song for you!

  • @Bowiefanperson i hear you. only a weirdo

  • wicked song - got this on a random cd of david bowie's early stuff - my and mates of mine love it - put in on for the laugh now and again

  • smile =) lol great song great pix and for some reson this reminds me of my uncle... other than the girl of couse but its still strangely accurate...

  • I accidentally bought the CD with this song on it one day. Hahah. I actually really like it. It doesn't have The Laughing Gnome on it, though, which is too bad.

  • You can get that on The Deram Anthology 1966 - 1968. It contains 27 tracks of Bowie' early stuff

  • I think its on a double album called Images 66 or 7 to 70 or 71... i have it somewhere ... i'll check

  • nice song. is this album only avaliable on the 'The Deram Anthology 1966 - 1968' CD or can you get it on its own on CD. I looked an amazon but that was the only one with his really early songs on it.

I wonder if anyone had any idea that he would become so great when they heard these first songs?!

  • Yes I believe they recently (like 2004 not so recent) re-issued them and also did so to his first album.

  • its from the album actually called david bowie

  • @vintage667 I have this song on his what? 1968 LP simply called David Bowie. If you haven't heard it, Love you til Tuesday is so freakin awesome.
