It's just that they're all such 80's wall street extreme yuppie d*bags and also they are like 'clones' practically; even their cards are almost all the same (they are all "vice-president"). that's why they can't remember (or throughout the movie it's just deliberately confused) each other's names & identities, etc. Personally i don't think Bateman (in the movie at least if not the book) actually killed anyone; I think he daydreamed it all, sitting in his office doing nothing all day.
This movie is great. People that work in print shops find the scene hysterical because same people are just retards about their business cards not realizing 98% of them end up in a trash can somewhere.
@downtownford I think that's intentional... there's a running theme in the movie of people mistaking other people's names, like Allen calls Bateman by the name of Marcus Halberstam, he calls McDermott by Baxter, etc. I think it's part of the comment on yuppie culture -- they're so narcissistic, they can't even remember others' names.
That's just it. These people are so narcissistic and petty that something as trivial as a business card suddenly becomes a competition. Have you not read the book or watched the entire movie?
i hope you're one of those guys who goes to their friend's neighbor's son's nephew to have your business cards "designed" for free , because to a graphic designer it isn't trivial.
If life had the anger over little things like that it would be chaos.....AHHH, but it's more than a little thing, you must realize that mr. author of this comment.
A watermark is a mark that you see when you hold something up at an angle to a source of light. The recent $20, $10, and $5 bills have them. Paychecks and other checks also have them. They're used for authenticity purposes, which all the more shows how petty Paul Allen is for using a watermark for something as mundane as a business card.
Daamm! That's men at work.

He was fucking born for this role. He could "play" Batman or John Conner, but he will always be Patrick Bateman.

If they are coworkers, why did he have to give him his card? The numbers are the same on the card.

did anyone notice in the beginning that Allen mistakes Craig McDermott's (Josh Lucas) name with Baxter?

There's a mistake on Patrick's card- at the left corner it says "Pierce &Pierce" while everyone else's says "Pierce & Pierce."
ALLINKNOTS 2 years ago
:50 There is no mistake. They all say Pierce and Pierce. It's just in different fonts.
