  • WORST MOVE METS EVER DID.

  • The appropriate time to have let him go was after the 2007 season, with Glavine, and not around Father's day like they did.

  • Willie got a raw deal!!! He is a class act and a good baseball man.

  • quiet Omar is sleeping

  • I miss willie....Id take willie back in a second then have this joke jerry manuel

  • mets SUCK! And will Choke again...It was Never Willies Fault

  • I don't think they will even be given the opportuniy to choke this year. However, Randolph had no business keeping job. Believe me, I watch the Mets every night.

  • then you must be disapointed

  • people its stupid to argue who is the better team the mets or the yankees. only one thing matters: THE PHILLIES ARE NATIONAL LEAGUE CHAMPIONS!!! The world series parade is coming through NY down broadway and stopping in front of citi field just to remind mets fans that they will never ever have it

  • If I were a Yankee fan I would just shut up after the way their team played this year!

  • Willie Randolph had to go. The Mets were underachieving after having high expectations after last season's collapse. But the way the Mets fired him was classless. Jerry Manuel got an extension yet the Mets just collapsed again. The Brewers have won the wild card. I strongly think that Jerry Manuel underminded Willie Randolph behind the scenes in order to take his spot.

  • BINGO !!!!

  • all of you idiots bringing race into this are morons. Randolph was terminated in a classless way, but race had nothing to do with it race. All of you whinney ass libs looking to create a situation that dosent exist just so you can bitch BS from a soap box make me sick. Bottom line is that Randolph is gone and the Mets are about to be eliminated from playoff contention.

  • Cohen commented last night how in '69 the Mets won with the help of a black cat and last night with the help of a black bat. Hey, what do you know it's not over yet LOL. You're a Giants fan too? Good choice, I've been a Giants fan my whole life as well.

  • Willie was a class act. He was lynched. Baseball shows the problems in the larger American community. Sadly we let race affect sports, etc. Willie deserves a management spot where "certain ethnic cliques" don't attack him or each other. Sad world, adults are often not judged by competence but by color.

  • Willie Randolph was lynched, plain & simple. I love how Bud Selig is always whining about how Black Folks have abandoned baseball. Baseball abandoned us. Actually, baseball never wanted us to begin with. Hank Aaron practically had to live like a fugitive in the weeks before he broke Babe Ruth's record, and despite everyone & his mother seemingly getting caught using steroids in baseball, whose name has become synonymous with steroid use? -- Barry Bonds. Fuck baseball.

  • The Mets were classless in the handling of this situation.

  • How else do you explain the 2007 collapse? Look how much better they've played since he's been fired?? You'd have to watch the Mets every night to understand.

  • how are you going to explain the 2008 collapse? YOU have to watch every night to understand.

  • Who's your team? Anyway, A 7 game lead is not a 1 game lead; I thought they should have fired him at the end of last year. Remember, right after he got fired, they got back in the pennant race with a long winning streak. Why do you think Delgado's hit 0 more home run since Willie's been out?

  • Are you a Met fan who WATCHES the Mets every night? Don't tell me you believe the myth that the 2007 collapse was solely on the players. They are now back in the pennant race, now that he's gone.

  • apparently your watching a different team than me. Since Wagner went on the DL, the bullpen has killed the Mets. They are 1 game from being eliminated from a wildcard spot. Willie was disliked because he was strict. waaaaa, that is the boss` job. Im the biggest Met fan there is, but watching this collapse again is sickening.

  • Sorry about that, I've just come across some Yankee fans who say that it was the players' fault and that Willie should still be the manager. But 1 game up is not 7 like they were last year. Considering the second biggest collapse in history, I thought Willie should have been fired then. And the bullpen will be accountable if they get eliminated.

  • my mistake man and sorry i took so long to get back to you. the ultimate culprit the '08 collapse this year was the season and possible career ender of billy wagner. however, omar minaya had a lousy offseason after '07 witht he exception of santana. your right when you said they didn't handle the firing right, the time to do it would have been at the end of '07 and not after the team won in anaheim in all places. anyway, sorry for our previous misunderstanding, but they would never win with him.

  • and when they dont win wit manuel because minaya didnt bother to improve a lineup that collasped two straight years then whose fault will it be then. u have a severe case of amnesia if u think the bullpen was the only culprit last year.

  • had wagner stayed healthy chances are they would have been in, but minaya is also to blame because he was asleep at the wheel during the '06-'07 offseason. but the number one reason was the bullpen.

  • so is it still willie fault?

  • you said it yourself the loss of credibility is with omar minaya and his inability to improve the roster. But NO WAY IN HELL should Willie Randolph had any business keeping his job.

  • last year the bullpen totally blew it though, and I discredit Minaya. Who do you like in baseball?

  • lol what do you think about it now atturgalsemaj are hiding under your bed like every other BS met fan lol

  • I was at the game today, and Jerry blew it by bringing in Schowenweiss. Do you think they made a mistake firing Willie? Understand, they'd be in 4th place if Willie was still managing. Are you a Yankee fan?

  • first off I actually agree with you they probably would have been in 4th place because the players stop playing for Willie. u had veterans like Delgado who all of sudden smacking homers after willie was gone the players quite on willie and yes i am a yankee. if we cant go to the show neither can you clowns. i have proudly accept our failure with no excuses unlike the met fans i bet you are all saying willie should have been gone in the beginning of the season and we would have made :'( cry!!!!

  • if you're a yankee you have no business bragging. ive been saying since 06 that willie was a lousy manager. the appropriate time to fire him would be at the end of last season. i dont think your somebody who watches the mets every night, willie sucked.

  • i have to say jim that you were right about delgado, but your bragging like the yankees did much better. the yankees should be even more embarrassed, Girardi's gotta go too by the way.

  • first of all some of u people r asses! willie was not the reason that delgado was striking out or why wagner and the rest of the pen was blowing saves. and if u still think he was to blame then who fault is it now?

  • and as a mets fan i was a little disappointed that we lost but in a way i was happy because i feel that willie was vindicated and it goes to show that manuel wit all his stupid jokes wit the media is not the genius he was made out to be. Minaya should have taken more of the blame for puttin this team and horrible bullpen together and not fired willie.

  • your my boy young... met fans listen to one of your own.....

  • if you're a yankee dan why the hell would you even think about mocking the mets when the yankees and the mets had the same record? the yankee fans are the real bs fans if you ask me!

  • BS well our season is more memorable, we had a better ceremony for the closing of our stadium and a better last home stand.MET fans should be embarrassed for that,it should have been as good or better NY should throw you out of the city and also yankee fans have a lot more bragging rights over the amazing clowns. if we were that close from making the playoffs we would have shout the door a week ago and you know it.blowing 16 games since the last week of august would never had happened to us

  • it doesn't help that the wilpons know nothing about baseball and decided to have the ceremonyy after the game, unlike the yankees who actually did the damn thing right. and if the yanks are capable of blowing a 3 games to none lead who knows what could have happened to them. by the way, remember when grady little left pedro in too long in game 7 and got fired? Today, manuel did something just as bad today by bringing in schowenweiss leading to the loss when it was totally unnecessary.

  • They should of fired minaya's stupid ass how do they expect willie to win with an awful bullben it aint willie's fualt the bullpen sucks minaya's a stupid ass instead of firing willie get new and beter picthers you stupid ass

  • GO METS. Just Focus on The Games You have left. Just Focus on Winning and Forget about The Critics and Reporters.

  • why do you fire him when they won and when the got to LA...i know everybody thinks its his fault for the team loosing but the players r the ones playing and they have part to do with that also.i think jerry will do good and i think he will not try to avoid the collapse like willie did....lets go mets we are despreat for wins... over 500 is what we need

  • i agree with u tht its not willie's fault tht the mets r playin like crap, but still, hes the manager and its his responisbility, its still a shame tht he had to get fired, im glad they fired rick peterson tho

  • Look how much better they've played since he's been fired.

  • I think its good that Peterson and Nieto got fired, i also think its good they fired Willie but a verryyy poor time to do it they should of fired him after they got swept in San Diego

  • but all those mets could have won but if the bullpen didn't come in the swep would have gone the other way

  • they should have fired aloma and not nieto in a game how do you not wave home schnieder when the ball has only just gotten into the fielders glove and that cost the mets the game

  • its fucked up. the whole thing is fucked up.

  • How else do you explain the 2007 collapse

  • Yea well all jokes aside we both suck lol but yea joe i didnt like that hiring at all.. donny basball should have taking it after joey torres ... i think the yankees and mets should dedicate this song to their fans "Timmy T - One More Try"

  • What??????????????
