Whew! What an enthusiastic and beautiful performance. Reading some of the comments...I'm not sure which one of them died but I'm so sorry for the loss. Both of them are incredible good musicians and this is one of my favorite songs ever.
Well, guys, I don't know how many times I have seen this video. I have it downloaded to my computer so I have not visited this channel for some time... But now I have... and it's like I've lost a good friend. I am sitting here with tears in my eyes and I just can't believe it.
The power of your music was greater than you ever thought... Rest in peace, Allun.
I think I've watched this at least 20 times over the past three days and I just wanted to say thank you. After playing for almost 30 years I've just discovered the music of Blaze Foley...which led me to this video. I love the cool groove that Clay has going and the absolute joy in Allun's face as he sings harmony and plays the lead. The joy in the music and the obvious love between the two make me smile every time. I can see why so many people loved Allun...
Clay...thank you so much for making this video and posting it for all to share... I needed to hear it tonight... to hear his voice and see his smile...and hear that guitar that is so unique that you can close your eyes and know it is his hands on the strings... The music and comradery in this are so special... We love you Buddy...
@hikingtn Thank you so much Teresa. Your son was an inspiration to everyone who knew him, and there's not a day that goes by that we don't think of him. I'm proud to have known him and called him a friend. Thank you so much. I love you all.

Clay - I am sorry for your loss and that is all I will say for words at times pale in the greater scheme of things... If you are not already familiar with it, I think you would very pleased to read a book by Blaze Foley's ex-girlfriend, the one about whom he wrote If I Could Only Fly, among others.
The book is Living In The Woods In A Tree and can be found in many places, simply Google it. It's a wonderful story of her life with Michael David Fuller ( Blaze ). Thank you for your efforts to make the world a better, more liveable place.
Brother, I am sorry to hear about your friends passing. Yall captured something special here in this video! I would have a copy of this on disc if I were you just in case youtube crashed. Man, keep on playing, that is the way he would want it. The song about your grandpa is good too! Cya man - ELB
Amazing. I stumbled on this video a while back and have been viewing it whenever i feel a bit down. Now i hear that Allun died and that is a heart breaker. damn...
Thank you all again, for your encouragement and support. It's been touching to feel that, even from people I've never met. From that encouragement, I've been compelled to upload some other songs I've written. Can't promise they'll be as good as Blaze's, but they are what they are!
Wow! The blending of your vocals and guitars are amazing! So sad to know that Allun on the left had passed away. I'm sure his music will live forever. My prayers to his family, relatives and friends.
Great cover / performance - which one was Allun? How tragic - you guys are inspiring and when you played together - well that was better than anything money will ever be able to bring you. Be tough buddy - POST MORE!!
@mrd2u2u2sucks Allun is the one on the left (the one with the musical talent!). He was an amazing person. For those in the Tri-Cities (TN-VA) area, there will be a benefit show for his daughter, Amelia Rain Cormier, on Friday, March 18 at the Paramount Theatre in Bristol.
I'm sorry to hear of Allun's passing. I have watched this several times because it is such a great cover of a great song. But hey, life is for the living, so let's keep playing.
I've lost count of the number of times I've played this - it makes me smile every time I see it. I've passed it on to fellow musicians & all agree it is like so many evenings we all enjoy but never seem to capture for posterity. This is a gem, a great rendition & is what making music is ALL about. Only today my partner told me that Allun had passed away - I am heartfelt sorry for your loss and though an ocean away in Scotland, she and I watched this so often that we too feel we've lost a friend.
I am so very sorry for your loss. You two had such a connection, so plain for all to see. You must have wonderful memories. You could see he was special, in fact you are both special. Please keep playing your wonderful music for I'm sure Allun will be in the depths of this beauty that you both shared. You were meant to be and I thank you again for sharing these special moments. Some memories lie in the looking and some in the feeling. You had both and passed on this rare moment in time.
That's so very very sad that he died. My prayers go out to his family and friends. I have listened to this song so many times and I just love the connection between the two of you. You guys have touched many lives with your music. It keeps him alive. Live in the moment it provides.
lads...thank you for this rendition of Blaze Foley's sweet and touching song. you can tell that you both are very close...can i ask...? Were you a little intoxicated or just high on life in this song. It makes us smile every time I play it. So perfect.
@13Esmarelda It could have been that we were a little of both. Or a whole lot of both. Allun was an incredible talent and a wonderful person. His soul shined like no other. Tragically, he died last month, crushing a whole community of musicians and music lovers. This was one of our favorite songs to play together, and had special significance for us both. Further, Allun's life was very reminiscent of Blaze's. They were two of a kind. The world will miss them both greatly.
This is a great cover, but I want to point out that you're singing the John Prine version... Foley's goes "Smokin' cigarettes in the back seat / tryin' to hide my sorrow from the people I meet," while Prine's changes that to "singin' songs for the people I meet." It kinda changes the song.
I can see Blaze smiling from whatever crazy ass place he ended up, Blaze weren't no heaven/hell type of guy, him and Townes are somewhere that drinking aint bad for you and there aint no hangovers
I still prefer the original Blaze Foley version, but you guys really did him justice! Change the words some more, it's a beautiful song with the best theme of all time. Solidarity FOREVER!

Incredible job gentlemen. One note to the lead player/back-up singer. I hope that at some point in my life, I experience half of the passion that you feel for this song.
You guys are awesome. My husband said you're better than John Prine. Isaid yea, but can they write a song like John Prine. I love how much you enjoy it.
I realized after making the last comment that John Prine didn't write it. It sure sounds like a song he would write. Now I will check out Blaze Foley's music, I'm not familiar with him. You Tube and Pandora Radio are great for finding new musicians and songwriters. Keep the videos coming!
