  • I'm loving all your videos, and I'm in awe of how many hours of work you've put in.

I have one small criticism of the workbooks I've downloaded so far. They aren't fully "reset" to match the condition of the workbook at the start of the video. E.g. in this one, the cell ranges are already named "Data" and "Car_Types" etc, and the assumption tables often contain the figures you end the video on. I feel very rude pointing this out, and will end by saying that I just ordered your book yesterday.

  • @gemmation , I am sorry. I will try to do better next time.

Maybe you did not download the correct workbook. There are two for each chapter. For example:

    Week1Busn214StartFile

    and

    Week1Busn214FinishedFile

    Try the start file.

  • @ExcelIsFun It's the start file I'm talking about. I re-downloaded it to check. But... it's not a big deal, and the fact that you've got literally hundreds of workbooks to download for free and learn from far outweighs the odd glitch. ;)

  • @gemmation , is it the whole workbook? or just one sheet?

  • @gemmation , I just checked the Start file for Week 1 Highline Excel Class and it looks like it is NOT completed: meaning, the start file really is a start file.

  • @ExcelIsFun It's just a couple of things that aren't reset, not the whole workbook.

E.g. go to the name box. It lists, Car_Type, cute, Data, Price, so you have to delete these first if you want to practice naming the exact same things you do at the start of this video. The assumption table about boomerang sales in the start file matches the video at 33m, rather than at 27m40s where you first introduce it. As I said, just small things, not disasters by any stretch of the imagination!

  • @gemmation , Thanks! I fixed it and re-posted. I hope that helps!

  • very intellegent. thanks for this

  • @hersheng18 , you are welcome!

  • You are amaaaaaaazing. You're like a robot, but better! o.o Cuz you repeat things and you force understanding while still making it fun. And you're really engaged in your videos, I feel like you're talking to me directly sometimes. And you're patient enough to name every move you make! So there's absolutely nothing to get confused about. Just wow.

  • Hi Mike.

    As always a superb job.

Cuestion: have you a number in mind of how many excell videos are you planning to do?

And what about other MS office tools like word or Power point? that would be tremendous!. I'am an egoist right :).

    Thanks, Keep Exceel-youtubing us!

  • I do not have a number in mind. But as long as I still have ideas and it is still fun, I;ll keep making them.

Probably no other MS non-Excel videos, though.

  • high class videos, ty

  • Excellent lesson & Excellent Instructor.

    Thank you for sharing.

  • You are welcome!

    Thanks for the EXCELlent comment!

  • Mike, your work is absolutely brilliant. Thanks for spending the time making the videos and letting us newbies access it so freely and easily.

Just a selfish question: It looks like you cover nearly everything in all your videos, could you advise if there is something that might be useful which you haven't covered, for example the vb side, or others?

    Many thanks once again.

Excel is indeed lots of fun!! Well, at least you make it fun!

  • Yes, I do not cover VBA. The best video series for VBA is by Mr Excel, but it is not free. However the 49 bucks for his VBA series is well worth it:

  • Thank you very much! Awesome video.

  • You are welcome!

  • Thank you !

  • You are welcome!

  • Mike,

I use a named table for a bank recs file. On my bank download I use VLookup to return issued cks cleared the same month from a named table (w/ck #s and $) of the GL download. Then I code the cleared checks issued the same month "a" and "e" for cleared checks issued prior months. After that, another vlookup bringing "a" from bank file to GL file to determine the outstanding list. When I sort the coded GL file the range of the NAME is shifted. Any better ways to handle it?

    Thanks.

    Swei

  • That sounds great to me!!

    Good work!

  • i have a question on countif/s

    so

    COUNTIF(Car_Type,F6)+COUNTIF(Car_Type,G6) equals 72

then why this one does not work

    =COUNTIFS(Car_Type,F6,Car_Type,G6) (equals 0)

prolbably because i did something wrong but what :))

  • COUNTIF(Car_Type,F6)+COUNTIF(C ar_Type,G6) is saying add the F6 criteria first, then add the G6 criteria second (and separately), then add.

=COUNTIFS(Car_Type,F6,Car_Type ,G6) is saying find the records that are both F6 criteria and F6 criteria at the same time.

  • now i get it, thank you :))

  • EXCELlent!! Getting it is great!

  • Thank you so much for sharing your teaching with us!
