what about the student that was VIOLENTLY ASSAULTED AND THROWN TO THE GROUND in the first few seconds of this time to put a stop to this BS. arrest all the cops that took part in this unwarranted and illegal action and the school administration for agreeing with this VIOLATION OF OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS
The school is predominantly white, and 90 out of the 107 students searched were black. Which is why 37 of them are suing the shit out of the school, the cops, and anyone else involved.
The dog can be plainly seen responding to handlers cues and never actually "hit" on any drug smells by itself because there weren't any to find.
Drug dogs are NOT an "exact science" and will routinely "hit" on smells of food, other animals, deodorant or cologne, and even normal human smells.
Not to mention the pervasive, if somewhat circumstantially inspired, racism that runs rampant throughout police forces.
Equally important, is the resurrection of "Troops to Cops" programs that offer local police departments incentives for employing battle-hardened soldiers as civilian police officers.
Better figure out how to build IEDs while the internet is still free, because it will be the only chance of fighting back. Better to err on the side of caution by arming ourselves with knowledge.
How about, while class is in session and the hallways empty, the police come into the school and conduct searches of the lockers.
2003 or not, it won't be long before people start finding ways to retaliate. Civilians won't acquiesce forever.
Aside from the pervasive ignorance of the general public and their willingness to blow Ronald Reagan over his militaristic drug war, you can thank the Pentagon and pencil neck, rhetoric toting politicians like Joe Lieberman for shit like this.
they had no right to search and entire school like that. search the suspects not innocent children, especially with GUNS AND DOGS. i remember this too and even though i didnt go there, it i still wrong. most of the police officers got in major trouble for this, for pulling guns on unarmed, innocent kids.
