TheGobliontrain: I would agree that Fats and his music had a great impact on the American music scene, but I think its a stretch to consider him the greatest figure in music performance history. As far as inspiring yuppie kids, I would hope so but so far they leave me unimpressed - they do not have his class.
I am waiting for the day when the critics will acknowledge that this man is the greatest figure in American music performance history. Even Louis Armstrong bowed indebtedness to him. Fats has inspired every yuppie kid who wanted to make a statement; thing is they probably don't even realize it. Fats was so damn fat he practically had to be carried from show to show. He never would have made it on American Idol, and that says a lot about our current culture. We love you Fats! You live on!
lilgirlcry13 In response to your statement, you have a good point but as you say your spelling unfortunately got in your way and also true, dyslexia is a problem but learn how to spell and you will go further in life and if you use another language to make your point such as "mucho grande" then use it correctly as it makes you look even sillier instead of cooler.

Unfortunately, people judge each other on issues like spelling, not fair but this is the way the world turns!
In response to Justin, how could you expect any 17 year olds to even begin to understand the enormous talent that lay behind that frolicking face of Fats. It is simply not in our culture to supply kids with this kind of musical understanding that used to be taught in the public schools but sadly, is not anymore.
For I am a 17 year old trumpet player in my school's Jazz Band.
See, we are a dedicated bunch of kids ( from a public school) who simply love Jazz.
I came here to listen to the bright swinging and amazing soul that can only be found in Thomas "Fats" Waller's songs. In fact, our Jazz band is practicing a rendition of this song. :)
@feelsgoodbro Good to hear that there are 17 year olds out there that are carrying on the tradition and excitement of really knowing how to blow a horn. I am in my second year of teaching high school band and will share this with my students regarding what you had to say. Keep up the good work as this is like gold that goes with you for the rest of your life!
@KroMosxFubreeze Beiber disliked this because even HE know he will never be this good or be remembered in the same manner as the Late Great "Fatsy Watsy" Waller
@houseman179 No, but you may be thinking of Louis Prima... a genius in his own right! He actually wrote the famous tune, "Sing, Sing, Sing" and he did the voice of "King Louie". Baloo's voice was by Phil Harris, who was also a swing musician in his heyday.

@oldtimejazzfan ... is it fats at keyboard ? sounds a bit like ralph sutton 's style !!
fingerscarr 1 year ago
@fingerscarr It's certainly Fats, he anounces himself as "Little Fatsy Watsy Waller" and he never sung a tune with Ralph Sutton.
oldtimejazzfan 1 year ago
@oldtimejazzfan .... thanks for that ! what i meant about sutton was that some touches sounded like parts of his version of this !
