  • My 3 fav books of all time! THats Springfield Marina footbridge on the LEA at Stamford Hill/Clapton by the Cafe. I Kayak there, I cycle over the Bridge, I run over that Bridge, My Dad was a Bargeman on the Lea, I Lunched at the cafe.... Funny, how Things tie in 2gether

  • Nice video! I was on here looking for some of Deakin's films he made (possibly the same mentioned in HCG's post). I think he made a film about the live music scene in Leigh-on-Sea. I wonder...

  • just finished reading wildwood a truly wonderful experiance l will certainly be on the hunt for waterlog .

  • @honkinhappy Wildwood is brill,as is tales from wallnuttree farm. I'm reading waterlog now, but it's taking ages because in the summer my workload goes up,as does work on the allotment and going out walking for longer and so on............. Get through loads of books in the winter though, Deakins books just have something about them that just inspire you to want to get out there and do things.

  • Brilliant!

  • so simple but

    oh so effective

  • Well done chaps. I came on YouTube looking to see if there was any footage from the pilot he says he shot for channel 4 (mentioned in Notes from Walnut Tree Farm) but was delighted to find such a quixotic event as a Roger Deakin memorial swim. Waterlog is one of my favourite books.

  • Wild Wood? Not in the temperature of that water I imagine...

Swimming with Jon Nickoll - last time I did that was in Broadstairs and it snowing. The man's a menace.
