In any case, I'm not saying that you can't enjoy S2 of the series. That's personal opinion, and it's stupid to say you're "wrong."

What I'm attacking is the idea that a plot and antagonists add anything to what S1 stood for. It's kind of like they took the same cast but made a new series with the same name, because it lacks the same subtle feeling that there are things wrong in this world but you can't just pin it down to "those evil gangsters over there."

I got the same feeling when I started watching season 2. It really lacked the subtle undertone of a disturbing reality. I stopped watching it shortly after noticing the difference. You can really tell that the show got handed over to someone else, with different writers, animators, and some different voice actors... Season 2 just felt... shallow...

@Neichus Whoa whoa, All I said was the second season is worth watching. Nothing more. You want to formulate an option on the second season without watching it is on you. Turning little girls into cyborgs is kinda overkill for dealing with "those evil gangsters over there" but that's just me. One glaring omission from the first season would be "We've been taking down gangsters for years, why not turn little girls into cyborg assassins!"

and beautiful scenery. They turned away from cheap tragedy and instead were able to imbue a far more powerful sense of existential melancholy into the whole series. It's why a plot and antagonists feels so out of place to me. It's not trying to tell a story; it's trying to paint a picture in 13 episodes of a world where sadness and beauty coexist in a strange and poignant mixture. If anything, S1 should make you desire these girls never shoot a gun again, not have to kill yet more people.

I'll be the first to admit the art took a dive, in Il Teatrino but before people bash the second series, watch it first plz. I thought the story was better than the first season. Cuz it actually had a story arc and good fleshed out antagonists.

The elegance of S1 was that it used the girls as a lens to bring the world into focus: that it shouldn't be this way, that things shouldn't have come to this, yet they have. Yet by the same token they wouldn't let you forget there was beauty in the world; that the sun, the breeze, and the smell of bleach are things we take for granted. Italy was a perfect setting for all of its art

@Neichus You bring up a good point. Stopping after the first season retains all the sympathy one has for the girls and the tragedy of their circumstances . I'm just saying ,It's worth watching. Don't listen to others. Watch it yourself, and formulate your own option. A solid plot only solidifies their purpose and importance to section2. Otherwise they seem like puppets/dolls for the Italians. Is turning these poor little girls into cyborgs necessary? Really? I enjoyed both seasons.

@Toe312 I did formulate my own opinion. S1 is an existential drama, where the essence is that there isn't a story. The first and last scenes are identical; it's their way of saying there isn't a plot to the world, things just spin on.

Similarly the antagonist of S1 are in essence people who use others as a means. Jean doesn't cackle like an evil villain but he is a profoundly disturbing character; his utter disregard for Rico's humanity and life in general is what is wrong in the world.

Season 2 is almost unwatchable... Its utterly crap compared to the first season - the characters animation is actually worse, the plot 'acting' is poor. I don't know why they ruined it - the first season was awesome, why trying to fix something which wasn't needed to be fixed?!

i started watching with the dub but then the Dub's ended and i got used to the Sub's. So now it sounds a bit off when i listen to the english voice cast. But i must agree that the quality of the english cast is very good. a lot better than some i have heard

I loved the series- I agree that the animation for the second season wasn't great but I got used to it. I also LOVE the opening:D. The one thing I don't like is that they made a dub and once again ruined a great series-WHY?- I only saw the trailer in english an I was pissed- whats with the voices? anyone else think they should just stop dubbing most of these things? you cant watch the dubs anyway.

People are really missing out if they will let an art style discourage them from watching Il Teatrino (2nd Season) Sure, it has a totally different look and is not as gloomy as the first, but it really is quite good!
