Great performance! But like he says in the intro, if you listen fools. And there are many. A wiseman once said "the only thing more pathetic than a fool are the followers of the fool"...
When Ronnie James Dio gets inducted to the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, they will open the Vocalist Wing specifically for the occasion. Then they will immediately close it, as there is no one else to enshrine. RIP RJD.
when dio screams SHOUT OUT!@!!! in the beginning , it just set the whole tone for me from this show,, man he can still belt it out,, my god thats awesome
This reminds me of something I saw on VH1 Classic; the top 100 bands of all time, and the band being highlighted was Black Sabbath/HnH. Sebastian Bach of skid Row was interviewed, and he specifically spoke about this concert. He said he watched the DVD of it, and almost starting crying because their performance was so powerful; Dio's singing was so clean, clear, spot on & amazing. After watching this video, I'm almost exactly in the same place...
Close your eyes and listen to that freight train bearing down on your soul. No reason to run...you can't get away.
RIP Dio. God must be pissed with all that rockin' you and Powell are doing in hell. Let him bitch. See you in a few years, brother. I'm not bringing my earplugs, either.
November 4th, 2011, Mob Rules hits 30 years old. let's make this anniversary one to remember my spending the day enjoying EVERY song from this great album! upload covers of your favorite songs, spam these videos with views and keep Dio alive by keeping the horns raised in his name! "Metal Will Never Die" indeed!
So... Just to see what all the hubub was about, I watched The Edge of Glory. I could only stand about 45 seconds before I felt like lighting myself in fire and start stabbing myself in the face. It would have been less painful. I'll be alright after watching this.... and a long shower.
God, I love this tune, probably my favorite Sabbath tune, along with Neon Knights!! This is one of those songs that I can never hear enough or cannot be played too loud. :-)
Today marks the one year anniversary of Ronnie James's passing. You are still sorely missed my friend, but you will forever live in the hearts of millions. RIP.
The late, great Ronnie James Dio. What a voice; what a man. This man truly loved and appreciated his fans. We miss you, Ronnie. Gone but definitely never forgotten!!!
Tony's look at 0:23 and Vinnie'sat 1:51 pretty much some up this song...they look like..."WE WILL BEAT YOUR ASS...WE ARE THE ORIGNATERS...TAKE YOUR FU SHIT METAL AND SHOVEIT UP YOUR FUCKING ASS!"
@apologeticsman also, in addition to my previous post, you have to admit that the "classics" did what SoaD and all those newer ones did a good 20-30 years earlier. Again IMHO, there is no recent band that could come up with something really, genuinely new that hadn't been done before by the "pioneers".
Again, just to make my point and keep the peace, I am not anti-any-other-band. Everything stated here is just IMHO. I mean no offense. To each their own.
@apologeticsman These are things open for debate. I'm not in a position to say which band can or can not enter "Hard Rock Heaven". IMHO, SoaD may be good but it doesn't have the "classic" status that those other bands have. I think we can agree that the impact that H&H, Purple, Zeppelin, etc. had on music is sth. that probably no "new" band can ever achieve any more. Like I said, it doesn't mean that all others are "bad", they just don't have much on the "classics"... all IMHO.
@37rod37 Yes (wo)man, I hear your, I always have to justify myself, "Oh look at you still sticking to that old stuff, you're sooo yesterday..." But then they constantly fail to show me anything at all that would be worth listening to (at least over extended periods of time). I think I don't need to justify myself...
@KidsOnCampus2 I must admit, I don't know King's X too much (barely, actually), but my list was not meant to be exhaustive (hence the "etc." :)) You get my drift, the good stuff...
Hearing about Justin Bieber on these videos are becoming old man. It needs to stop. I hate him just as much as anybody, but I hate hearing about him when listening to these awesome songs just as much.
hello, is there someone who plays guitar here, can anyone help me out?
i have a question:
i know tony usually tunes his guitar down by 1/2 step. but here, it seems his sg is tuned normal, when you look how he plays the a chord etc. it would also make sense b/c he plays the rest of the concert with another (downtuned, i assume) guitar. am i wrong here? is he playing this song with standard tuning?
It amazes me how those "old guys" can easily wipe out any hard rock or metal act from at least the last 2 decades. Seriously, name any act from the last 20-25 years that can even remotely keep up? H&H are/were in their 50's and 60's, but they kick all the new stuff's butt without even trying. I'm not anti-new-stuff, I like some of it, RATM, Linkin Park, etc., but this right here is just the shit. Nothing comes close to the old masters, H&H, Zeppelin, AC/DC, Sabbath, Deep Purple, Metallica, etc.
@mechaghostman2 Same here man and I'm just 2 years behind ya. Been into the Beatles since I was 12, Zeppelin when I was 13, Sabbath since I was 14.....
@PterodactylMK1 Same here, that's what I say to my buddy when he asks me ''why do you still listen to that old stuff''' I just tell him '' why listen to people who were inspired or play like Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Led Zepplin etc.I'll listen to the originals insted thanks'' Again like you said, I have nothing against new stuff either....
@MrEODTEK Again, it's not up to me who should or should not be on that list. Personally, I never liked Kiss. They are too average, focusing too much on show and not enough on music. The bands I mentioned all did something new for Rock and Metal. This is why I think they should be there. Kiss, I don't believe they did anything "revolutionary", they don't have a unique style, no outstanding instrument players or frontman, etc. Not to discredit them. All IMHO. Don't take this too serious. Peace.
@xXeddie92Xx yes Ozzy is a better frontman if you fancy a grown man pulling his pants down and spreading his ass cheeks for all to see his balloon knot
The very best of the Dio era Sabbath. It's not better than Ozzy Sabbath. It's not worse, either. It's different. Like apples and oranges. Tony didn't reallly fiddle with the tremolo before Ronnie mixed it up with the band. Makes me drive too fast when I crank it on the i-pod. It's all power.

That scream at the beginning is flat-out jaw-dropping.
65 years old, and he makes 99% of all metal singers sound like rank amateurs.
The man was born to sing, just like Buddy Rich was born to play drums and Jimi Hendrix was born to play guitar.
We won't see his like for a LONG time. I feel so privileged that I got to see him live six times (twice solo, and four times with Heaven and Hell).
I just wish I'd met him.
