Well, now I think it's time I re-visited this thing. Okay, so that comment was posted before I got AH, obviously, and recently I have played the game. It was awesome. Great flight mechanics, awesome score, and as many of you have been angrily reminding me, the plot was original. Many review magazines I'd seen prior to playing kept claiming that AH was stealing from MW2. I see no similarities other than an attack on D.C, which was nothing like the one in MW2. So yeah, AH, amazing game. Buy it.

I like how everyone forgets that Project Aces made a lone F4/F22 pilot turn the tide of a losing war, a small squadron consisting of F-14D's become demons to both sides of a conflict and how in two separate wars two pilots using F-15 variants just kill everything that opposes them.
If you didn't realize it, Ace combat has always been a conflict between East and West. They're just not hiding it behind a really thin veil anymore with Assault Horizon.
Ace Combat 4, 5, 0, and 6: Intricate/inspired plots that show there is always more to the conflict than you'd think, indulging the player into the addicting experience. Ace Combat AH: "Russians, Russians, gotta kill those evil Russians. Cold War never ended. Russins evil. FUCKING RUSSIANS!" (Aka the same exact plot to the new COD games, and the staple of American gaming)
Storylines going to suck, you can already see F22s shooting down SUs30+ like theyre migs 21 A SU30 can take down a F22 one on one on a dogfight due to its' superior maneuverability Imagine the PAKFA,SU37,47 Oh, And I havent see a SU47 on assault horizon.. I miss the japanese storylines that dont make a F22 look like a Falken and the russians having the piloting skills of the americans' Plus theres going to be a PAKFA vs F22 in the end, physically: PAKFA>>>>>>F22
@gangsta0lemon Good job reading those plot synopsis there. Actually if you just watch the trailers, the Russian's are on NATO's side, with Russian Mercenaries fighting with African rebels. If anything, 6 had the most "LOL MURICA AND RUSSIA COLD WAR" plot, albeit America and Russia having different names.
@gangsta0lemon Well to be fair, Ace Combat sorta does the same thing they just don't call them "Russians", the accent is always strangely eastern European though.
@gangsta0lemon But Namco hired someone from Infinity Ward to have Ace Combat : Assault Horizon look and play along CoD... I even think that the writers are trying to make us see the connection between CoD and Ace Combat which makes it a bit mysterious and I like this essence...
@gangsta0lemon AH wasn't written by the creator of Ace Combat 4,5,6,0. It was meant to be a break from the story-based gameplay. That's why I didn't purchase it.

@notgnihtiw Yeah, AC's continuity is messed up. Ace Combat 3, for instance, takes place like two hundred years in the future of 5's events. The new title, Assault Horizon, is completely disconnected from the main storyline.
@EdenBlade17 AC5 is in 2010. AC3 is in 2045. By then, there's no Osea or Belka. The world is just defined by corporate factions.
Actually, according to the developers, the move from Strangereal to the real world was apparently because the Ace Combat timeline was too convoluted for them to write wars for. Prior to this statement, the intention was to create a series of games showing how the world was lead up to the corporate controlled world of AC3.
That the real world? I doubt that is a smart move since we do not have propulsion system powerful enough to keep those kind of super size flying fortress in the air for so long.

The air combat genre has, admittedly, always been a floundering one. These days, it's safer businesswise to make a CoD style game because games like those simply sell more. The problem is, Horizon's supposed to be a rebirth, but this rebirth spits on the fans of the fantasy warfare we like so much. That's my problem.

@Romus011 Too right mate, even in the Vietnam war the US pilots would call the russian ones demons, they'd be scared shitless if they had to go on a dogfight with them. Even american propaganda admits it now (history channel, etc) But oh well, we buy games where the russians use AK 47s in some games instead of the new AN94s or AEKs, where russians use hinds24 as attack choppers instead of the KA's, etc. Can't do much about it, glad we can pilot the PAKFA.
