  • Cremaster is the name of the muscle which pulls your balls up when you are cold.

  • I liked the part where everything everythinged.

  • wut

  • cremaster is a muscle in your ballllllsack

  • Only 20 sets of DVD's of the whole cycle were pressed, and they were sold for 100k each. One resold for 571k.

  • so this is some from all the parts?

  • I feel like I need to die now

  • David Lynch on acid! It`s amazing!

  • Full Cycle playlist on my channel.

  • Cool. But does it amount to anything?

  • THIS LOOKS GOOD FOR INTELECTUALL WANK S

  • WHAT IS THIS I DON'T EVEN...

  • Personally I prefer Big Moma's House 2.

  • Perhaps....has he seen some Fellini's movies...? It's totally the same idea!!!!!!!!!

    My opinion, obviously.

  • haha. cremaster cycle is part of human anatomy. The girl with the blimps pretty much sums it all up. google image search the cremaster muscle and you will instantly get the symbolism

  • im sorry but what the fuck am i watching? i get this is art and visually its stunning but why was this made? i dont understand the symbolism going on here. im seeing great architecture and humanoid like people

  • yea trailer makes it look good. but ive watched the entire cycle.. it really is garbage. moments are good. but 5 good minutes out of over 6 hours. blahhh.

  • Imitation of Fellini..?

  • I wish Matthew Barney would release the cycle on Blu Ray

  • @iscream22 howabout just at all?

  • do we really have to repeat ourselves haha

  • I really want to see these films but I'm really scared that all of these scenes are like 15 min each.

  • @Colunga210 and going to an art museum is like a drive through at mcdonalds?

  • @t7g6s8 Sort of, I mean, I do expect to leave with something. But not really, because I'm not just trying to get to the end of it (as one would with a drive-thru). Although, most museums do put a gift shop near the exit.

  • Terry Gilliam + crack = Matthew Barney. These movies are INSANE!

  • 2:41 nice

  • they should me this shit in my film class, its overly pretencious bullshit that thinks it cool and "new media" good luck with this shit catching on!

  • @EnRicoTesoro You're so right! There are far too many mediocre minds in the world for films like this to ever be popular. Viva la Avatar, and pass the Kool-Aid.

  • @SONOFABITCH I likem both!

  • The the hell is this!

  • This is some Esau Faggot Hammite shit!!!

  • what the f*ck is this?! totally found this vid by accident

  • @AnAlternativeWorld

nope man, i just have seen the movie and that is a girl, %100 sure

  • @Razwithz

im sure i read is a transexual..is fir the concept of the video..cremaster 1: thereare no male characters but is starring by the one who will became a man. have a reason why

  • @AnAlternativeWorld

her artistic name is Marti Domination

  • furry porn

  • derek roddy played for this live apparently. awesome. \m/

  • or the shit

  • he just got good at making shit

  • Vaya mierda de video. What a crap video.

  • what you think it means, it doesn't. not to get into deconstructionist modes of thinking, but all imagery is so abstracted and disjointed, you couldn't possibly come up with any sort of narrative to make sense of what you're seeing. to those who see value in that point of view, well that's reading what you want into anything you want. in which case, why create "art"? if art can easily be found in the everyday. my point: art has become only about making art about art and for other artists.

  • Its bollox... alot of bollox... well the musle that moves them...

  • I got fired off cremaster 3 and I still think the whole thing is amazing and awe inspiring... And Mr. Barney is the real thing. I got an invitation to the wrap party & the premiere, even though I did nothing but cause problems on his set.

So don't fear what you don't understand America, Embrace the wonder and let go...

  • @cjlivheidi What kind of problems? Why exactly did you get fired?

  • Because I didn't agree with some of the methods used by Mr. Barney's studio manager...

And there was no chemistry between us... No hard feelings, it was just a gig and it was a long time ago...

  • @cjlivheidi I like how you said "Embrace the wonder and let go..." Thats exactly what I had to do to stomach this. Im still confused as all hell but I couldn't take my eyes off of it.

  • I find it interesting the raw anger this film inspires in the general public. People hate having to think for themselves.

One aspect of looking at / listening to / reading someones work is trying to figure out what or if they meant anything by it...but you can get 'meaning' out of it regardless.

So fuck your nose with a crusty douche nozzle your mom is your sister.

    What?

....12 year old boys aren't the only ones allowed to have fun creatively insulting people... fart breath.

    :P

  • visually stunning ..but i still have no idea what its all about

  • There Freemason Rituals.

  • thank you for sheeding light. i now worry about freemasons :)

  • @professionallynasty The video intriguing, your commentary, well, the first half was valid, the second half was just fucking hilarious. I have to quote you so my friends can see it.............."So fuck your nose with a crusty douche nozzle your mom is your sister." um wow.

  • @professionallynasty I saw Cremaster 3. I got what it was about. It still sucked. Carry on.

  • I especially liked the part where the director threw himself off the bridge. Talk about pissing in the eyes of your audience!

  • What a shitload of fuck.

  • This movie changes you. So weird...

  • i think she is ursula andress

  • Just before the minute-mark... that looks like either Judy Dench or Caterina Boratta. I don't think either of them were alive when this movie was made though. Possibly Dame Dench...

  • you know judi dench is still alive, right? and it's ursula andress in this movie

  • this is...

    no words

  • I know Joan Crawford has risen from the grave, but apparently Kenny Anger has as well.

  • That would be REALLY weird, seeing as Anger is still alive, kicking and making Disney-cut-up cartoons.

  • Most random shit ever

  • HOLY CRAP

  • I literally nodded off while watching the trailer. This movie looks like an absolute SNOREFEST.

  • hahahaha

  • wanker

  • I downloaded it from emule

totally precious, but you can easily fall asleep, it's kind of soporific but in a good way, very dreamy

  • The music from this clip is mixed from the soundtracks to Cremaster 2,3 and 5, I think. The cds are available on Amazon. Jonathan Bepler is the composer.

  • i wish barney would have made this film more available. movies like this already have enough trouble finding publicity as it is.

does anyone know the songs in this trailer?

  • I think he wanted to keep the films in theaters, so they'd always been screened properly and they would feel like works of art and not just "entertainments". These films were made with (for the time) very high definition cameras. I may have misspoken as to his intentions but I think those are the reasons you can't get this from NetFlix. There was a single DVD composite of the films with some complicated interactive features available some years ago. Did you look for that?

  • Woulda been better with Adam Sandler.

  • @Tondars Will Smith is good enough, get over it.

  • WOW! wowowowowowowow

  • you can get them through torrent sites, since they are not available on dvd's unless your a wealthy collector. And can afford them. I heard one of them sold for over 300,000 on ebay. I don't know if it was one or the entire set. The nice thing about movies like these ones is they are more rewarding if you put a little more time into them. Like doing a little research. They take a little more effort to appreciate then most other movies.

  • very, very nice.

    beautiful images

  • This is what happens when you make conceptual art. You have to knwo a little about it in order to understand something.

Or can you understand hindi without trying to learn it?

  • i understand what you mean

  • I think Matthew Barney is an amazing visionary artist and he is making history at the Guggenheim in New York! I remember his first works shown here in San Francisco, and I think he has evolved into a truly fine artist!

  • I heard that one of these films cost at least 10,000 dollars. And can also be watched in art museums.

  • were can i watch these films?

are they in noraml film shops or what?

  • I think the cremaster cycle is amazing so unique and does not care if it is liked or not...show respect for that.

  • i see alot of freemasonic symbolism !!!

  • @kaver76 O.o where

  • @kaver76 explain.. ive done alot of reading on it, but i'm not too keen on all of the symbols, just curious myself. didn't see any All Seeing Eye, or the Freemason symbol, maybe i missed it..

  • @kaver76 Nah, just consumism iconography.

  • I just saw it once.. at a cinema here in Lisbon (Portugal) the 6 films - the whole cycle

I would like to review it, but it seems thats pretty rare to find

  • It is art. You might not like it, but you can't say it isn't art. I hate most oil paintings, but you still see those in art museums.

  • yeah man i only like acrylic paintings.

    idiot.

  • To quote from Anthrax, Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I just like the ugly side.

Hate it, love it, at least it makes you think, even if that thought is: 'This is not art' it helps to give you a perspective on what is art.

Much like any art, I think it is good to look at works that you do not like as much as works you do, you can learn a lot from both.

Tonight I will watch Citizen Kane, followed by Derailed with Jeane Claude Van Damme-good, followed by shit. We all need balance.

  • Although, it must be said that this piece does posess a strong ability to stir feeligns and draw you into it, that i will acknowledge, i still feel menatelly raped though, barney u lunatic

  • Hey man, you need to read more books. Check out "Simulacra and Simulation" by J. Baudrillard and Arthur Danto's "After the End of Art" Then come back and comment.

  • baudrillard is a poser. i hope arthyr danto isnt, i will try it

  • Isn't that the point of art? To try and get people to see what you see? There is more to art than hanging a pretty picture on the wall.

  • Shit

  • I'm scarred for life. Especially after 2:34. I'll never see chewing gum the same way again.

  • and to top all this beautiful madness this man goes home and fucks Björk .. lucky bastard!!!

  • Lucky indeed.

  • Absolutely brilliant - thankfully the whole cycle can now again be seen by others than the billionaire collectors who bought the set on DVD.

  • sp what is this about? i dont get it...

  • Cremaster cycle eis a mix between concept and mythology in order to produce an artistic work. You don't have to get it. You have to feel it. Art affect us in differente ways. Maybe the images provoke some disgust in you or they can make you smile. Mathew Barney's art is complex but powerfull. Open your mind.

  • Matthew is a genius,I love cremaster and especcialy Loughton Cadidate!

  • i saw 1, 2, 3 and i was livid for a week...O_º

  • what a load of crap

  • ai have a fotolog made in his honor

please come and tell me what you think

    the link is

    fotolog . com / cremastter

    thanks

  • np...

  • I've read a lot of strange things about Cremaster, so I'm glad to get a glimpse at the work itself. Thanks for posting this.

  • i was fortunate enough to see his exhibit at the sf moma. i was not moved in any way by his work. it's symbolism was lavishly unimportant.

  • Aaah I see! This is brilliant! I love how he captures the fraility of the human condition in such a short clip!

  • I saw Cremaster one in Budapest about ten years ago and there were no chairs in the exhibition room. On purpose they said, but the movie's like two hours long, man. It was good though.

  • actually, cremaster one is only about 20 minutes long... perhaps you're remembering number 2?

  • well, it seemed like two hours anyway. but maybe i'm confusing it with Frankenstein's bride, which i had to watch standing as well, lol.

  • Actually "buying number 3 on DVD" is really still only 1/3 of the movie #3. They only way to really see them is in a theater, these movies tour all over the world

  • Matthew Barney ruined my trip to the Guggenheim. Grapes, fertility, Good Year blimps, hard rock, wax, pianos filled with cement mix with a pile of potatoes next to it. So sybolic I want to shoot myself.

  • Logistically, of course it would have to be sold to arthouses. His surrealist epics have such a gigantic budget, are not conventionally and pubclically accessible and although there are a great number of people who would appreciate it, it is a work of art, rather than a 'film'.

  • Also, to see his works on the big screen is quite amazing. Semi-dreamlike. I am sure in the future, they will all end up on DVD, and Cremaster 3 is on DVD with alot of eggs, if you shuffle it correctly.

  • Actually, the Cremaster Cycle, and Drawing Restrant 9 are being shown in public cinemas around the world. If you check his sites, they show listings of where to see them. In Amsterdam, The Film Museum Showed the entire Cremaster Cycle, and extended it for another month due to popular demand. When the showed Drawing Restraint 9, the Cinema was packed. So it is reaching the public.....

  • bullshit

  • indeed.

  • you can buy number three in the cycle on DVD at any homepage.. and if you check out the the actual exhibition dates on diferent art galleries fx tate modern, you'll probably find out that it's just as priceless as any art piece, and that it's also a public piece of art whenever it's on show..

  • Rather than release his films to the public, where they can inspire people, and actually benefit the human race, Mathew Barney apparently sold their exclusivity to rich "art snobs" who are probably more into them for their exclusivity than artistic value. Art seems pretty useless if people can't access it. Release some damn DVDs! .. and I'm not paying full price for a small part of a film.

  • word. I've been trying to get the music to cremaster five for ages with no luck. All of this needs to be more accessible.

  • Does it ever occur to you that maybe Matthew Barney is also full of shit?

  • I agree, too random to mean anything at all...

  • I completely agree, Barney is a pretentious douche.

  • drawing restraint 9

  • Tres cool. Creepy as hell.

  • kind of a lord of the rings shit
