I just hate that people that use linux and other OP's look down on the average guy who uses windows, I do agree that linux etc is cool, but with windows I can play my games etc which i wouldnt give up, you seem to think your the more intelligent person, for picking another OS but really I dont think so, because really , u just had an opinion on an OS and picked one. and then you give users of windows an attitude, which is kinda anti intelligent, drone like behaviour. that is your achievement.

@youplaymenot ps3 and xbox are by technology standards, outdated by the time they come out on the shop shelf. ERGO having a constantly upgraded pc is the best way to enjoy games BUT I guess YOU would have to be intelligent to realise that!!! Again I reiterate my first post, putting someone down for simply making a choice on what OS best suits them, is unintelligent behaviour, due to it being grounded purely on your own views on either OS. I dont put down linux, or windows, both have their merits

after i install dream aquaruim,, i run it ..i got error "couldn't find tex interface_border_bublle.sgi couldn't open species couldn't open shop...i already configure the wine the graphics i set it up to emulate windows it was a full screen but only blue color appears together with the message error..pls help,..i want to thave it also...i am a first time user of linux..

This is kinda all now, Ubuntu Linux kinda looks way cooler than this today. Compiz Fusion is already installed and you just need to install extra plugins and configurator tools to see incredible wonders you'd never see in Windows. Ubuntu is free and with WUBI you can install it or uninstall it from Windows like any other program! So, even if you are a windows fan-boy, why not trying Ubuntu? You've nothing to loose, right? ;)

yeah i like apple over anything at this point, it has everything i need it to do. yeah thats pretty cool but what can you do with it? you wont get rich flipping around a desktop cube thingy, or you wont get any rediculously hot girlfriends, or a good job just cuz of it either, or atleast the chances are very slim, so other than a show linux is thumbs down for me.

no, im saying a comp is just a comp, apple is just a comp, but linux is trying to be cool with cubes when nobody needs it. apple doesnt need tricks like that cuz its a good enough comp. and its performance speaks for itself. the gf thing was just an example of how useless that cube thing is. u obviously dont get it cuz ur like getting off on a stupid cube and a puny penguin. but hey u think ur linux is the best, then why is it still and always be the underdog?

Not all linux users use compiz-fusion (what you call "the cube" is a plugin for compiz-fusion). I personally hate compiz-fusion and run fluxbox on top of kde to make it slick and no nonesense. Linux speaks very wellfor itself and shows how a good solid OS should be. Its not flawless but neither is any OS and you should appreciate that.

well alot of ppl post vids of it on youtube and its like ok, cool but what else can it do. and plus i think no spyware, virus's, etc on my computer makes it the best. at this point the only reason for buying a new comp is cuz i feel like blowing money away for no reason. and ppl say it doesnt get viruses only cuz there arent any for it, im aware of that, but if it was so easy, y did they do it in the first place for older computers?

The windows cube is a bad copy of the compiz cube and it does absolutely nothing. Sure you can never see something like this on a primitive windows system. That's a fact. Video reply with something different if you have anything to say ;)

Sure, I had to uninstall it. I need windows because Linux has no good CAD software at all. My computer had Vista I had to remove it. My new computer, 2,5 GHZ Intel core due duo was slower than my previous 2 Ghz PC with XP! that's incredible. Vista has some crappy visual effects embedded in Aero, but with Compiz (youtube search for it) you get 100x the quality and number of them in Linux. And with all effects activated it is faster than XP. I had to revert to XP for performance. Now it's Ok.

What I mean is that even if I need XP for CAD tools, Vista was unusable. What's the point in buying a new pc if the OS installed in it makes it way slower than an older PC? This is crazy and it's called trashing money in the bath. Really. XP is a nice OS but both Vista and XP look horribly old and bad compared to a finely tuned up ubuntu system with compiz. Believe me. Then, you liking Vista is a one man dance: Vista has been universally tagged as the worst OS ever, second only to Millennium :)

there are many, believe me! Give a try at Vixta for example. But in gnome-look and other sites you'll find tons of Vista Aero's cloned themes. I don't like 'em personally, but you can absolutely copy Vista, Mac or whatever in Linux. try it, it's free! ;)

I no i'm late, but you should try the new Vista service pack one. I've been using home premium from the start and I have to say that it used to suck balls (BSOD, incompatibility issues, No good graphic drivers, etc.), but Microsoft has finally corrected a large number of issues. Plus because chances are u are using a PC (*cough* mac sucks *cough*) you will be able to dual boot anyway, which has also been vastly improved in vista. (I still love Ubuntu and the gnome desktop though.)

I have Dream Aquarium and it works great with duel screens and I'm only running an AMD Sepheron with 2.12 for Processor, 1 gig of ram and a 256 meg video card and yes you can feed the fish.

Well, if you've got Ubuntu Feisty (7.4) installed, just open up Synaptic and install it. Otherwise it is simple with Ubuntu Edgy too. Just look in the Beryl site. you have to ad a repository and then install it using Synaptic.
