  • This is not a proa. It's a catamaran with mast mounted on one hull.

  • Is it really a proa ? Surely it's an outrigger canoe, since it looks like you sail with the outrigger to leeward, a proa the outrigger is always kept to windward

  • Well theres a creative name. Wow. Really... wow. Whudda thunkit?

    Genius.

NINJA.. like a warrior right ... but with the wind right?

    Idiot.

  • there is the droptest for the CE-Certification:

unfortunately you have to add the above part of the URL after youtube(dot)com

  • @billbroome: thanks for your comment!

With the asymmetrical forces you are right – but only theoretically. In practice you don’t feel it. And it’s true – it’s a lot of fun!

  • Very pretty proa you have there. It looks as if you have shown a full jibe, but not a complet tack in the video, or did I miss something? How well does it tack? On a cat tacking without a jib is a bit more challenging.

  • @mozzerelli Thanks for your comment. Of course it tacks as easy as it jibes ;-)

  • what's the advantage of a proa compared to a regular catamaran?

  • @suckerfree23 - thanks for your question!

A tacking proa is a highly diversified, exiting, thrilling and enjoyable boat. It tacks/turns like a monodinghy, sails (depending on the direction) like a trimaran and accordingly in the other direction like a very light catamaran that easily lifts the hull. A tacking proa is almost everything but NEVER boring!

If you prefer an easier way: add another hull on the other side (Ninja Spider) and enjoy trimaran-sailing. foolproof and fast as well!
