  • This scene makes me extremely sad to see him sit down and think "what the fuck am I doing?" but then he gets up and still has the same mentality he has had the whole movie like "fuck it, i'm just gonna do whatever." Amazing clip

  • i just realised that that was heath ledger holy shit!

  • dunno why but this is one of the most epic scenes i've seen

  • Incredible scene- To me this scene means when everything around you goes to shit in your life go back to your passions, what you really love to do- Get peace of mind back , and what truly makes you happy

  • Dear Haters,

"Maggie, I wish I'd never seen your face"

This scene is about how much anguish Skip has for becoming what he has become (in Skip's case, a sellout and a wash up; in Rod's case, a broken-hearted man). He doesn't have to say a word, because the music and the body language tell it all. Shakespeare once quipped that "brevity is the soul of wit"; Skip being able to convey his emotion without saying anything at all is the epitome of soul. That's why people love this scene.

  • @captainphoenix Yeah, right on! The audience got the idea that he was making and selling boards for some wannabe skaters, not spirited skaters... he had to sell his store, and Heath Ledger transmits that sadness on this scene.

  • Rip <3

  • fav movie of all time

  • This scene is one my favourites too. And I don't know why. It's so short to have any real gravity and profoundness but man it sticks with you and is profound somehow. Heath Ledger owns this song now in my mind.

  • BEST actor.

    best character played.

    Love you heath forever!

    R.I.P

  • Skip turn up more the radio volume

  • I will never forget this scene , with skip and the best song; maggie may.

  • I came for the song

  • great actor. like i know everyone flips when they talk about him in dark knight, which he was awesome, but even in a knights tale. I mean, honestly, he was perfect for every movie he has ever acted in. what a great guy. rip bro.

  • oh my god i'm flippin out right now this is my all time favorite part in this movie and i took a chance clicking on this!!! thank you thank you for posting!

  • This movie is on TV right now! Oh yeah.. luv it

  • "Tell the kid he'll be surfin' by Saturday...." Jesus, how did that guy make EVERYTHING he said sound so fucking COOL?!?!?!?!?!?!

  • Amazing song. Amazing actor.

One of my personal favorites in both categories...

    Rest in peace Heath...

  • One of the best scenes ever, underrated for sure

  • @whoknew1101 I haven't even seen the movie but I can just tell how good of a scene this is.

  • this scene made me start drinking at 11 in the morning earlier today

  • this makes me tear up. i miss heath so much. gone far too soon. incredible talent.

  • lost too soon...but gave so much to us...heath ledger...THANK YOU

  • The seen says so much, without saying anything at all.

  • @ExecuteInStyle really, so what does this scene tell you?

  • man im the same way at work

  • this is such a great scene because it shows how skip felt about loosing the z-boys and how he messed up and such. great scene. :D

  • @dartanion619 also it shows his real pain cause he is working in the shop he once co-owned. i watched the documentry on the zboys and dogtown.

  • i know everyones saying it but this really was the best scene in the whole movie...

  • I love Heath most in 10 Things I Hate About You... :)

  • i love this Scene!! thanks!!!

  • My favourite movie of all time. Shows how skating started.

  • Is it just me or does this version of "Maggie May" sound different? but in a good way

  • RIP to a Hollywood legend!!

  • Great movie, great performance in this role.. Better than the Joker role I think

  • Heath Ledger gonna be remembered in Movies as the greatest Youngest Actor and the Best Joker ever.

  • reminds me of cahill's shop

  • heath ledger just makes it come alive. It's not the song... or the room... or the lighting... it's him and his brilliance. it's not even important to anything, only some damn brilliant character analysis mixed with pure awesome.

  • Perfect song choice here, legendary! <3

  • best actor of our time.

  • who can dislike this ?? omg fuck this bastards

  • was he really singing the begining

  • Oh Heath Ledger

  • this movie is so nostalgic and im 17 lol.

  • @thekoolaidman156

i know that feeling, and i'm your age as well.

  • Everyone talks about him in The Dark Knight, but I think this performance was better.

  • He is great in this movie... I actually didn't realize it was him playing Skip until about twenty minutes into it, his accent is so gnarly. If you haven't seen this movie you should, it is excellent and will give you some history too. This scene has taken on a much different meaning, but it still gives me hope when I'm not feeling so great.

  • best scene of the whole fuckin movie

  • i love it, one of the reasons why this song is one of my favorites

  • R.I.P.

  • Fantastico Heath Ledger. Scena bellissima!!

  • There are no such words that could describe of how great this guy was!

  • willpat2...i agree and disagree....hes defintley bumming hardcore cause of whats lost..but hes also happy cause hes still doing the same shit he loves..u can tell how he sings the tune...and heath was..is..and will always be brillant in front of a camera.

  • heath sounds just like the real guy skip its it kinda like he stole his voice box for the movie lol.RiP dude

  • One of my favorite movie scenes ever. I don't even know why.

  • @gjcall2 I think because it's a very real scene. When I watch it I feel like this could be me, or anybody. It's a little heartbreaking given Skip's situation but at the same time it makes you smile. I think it beautifully illustrates the conflict the character is going through. Also the lyrics are really nostalgic; makes me sad but damn I love it too!

  • Amazing how music can lift the spirts even in time like these, with whiskey and ciggs, still has the will to work and sing along! Good potrayal of life, the Irony of being sad and happy at the same time!

  • probably somehow my favorite part in the whole movie. In the end, you gotta sell out, but never forget who you are , man.

  • @hsuboi Words of wisdom bro.

  • I think this should've been the very ending of the movie...

  • R.I.P

  • @Lengsel7 idk how the drinking went but hes not doing too bad for himself. now runs SMA skates. i personally am much happier seeing him there than in the back of his once-was shop thinking about all the mistakes he made in life, instead of what a great person he is.

  • this film made me pay attention to how good Heath Ledger and Emile Hirsch were at acting, Lords of Dogtown is such a wicked film, deserves more recognition than it gets!

  • @danathor99 hopefully Christopher Nolan will hire Emile Hirsch for the next Dark Knight movie. I know Heath Ledger kicked ass at the role of the Joker but I think that if Emile Hirsch were given the opportunity he could nail it.

  • @guitarblazer4 dude good call

  • @guitarblazer4 well the next nolan film isnt featuring the joker as a character and this will be the last Nolan batman movie

  • RIP Heath Ledger. Best joker ever

  • @RickyReedify 2 ppl say his voice he used here was similar to his jokers is that true

  • I heard this song on the raido the other day... made me think of Heathy, always does now. <3 :)

  • People say its sad, but skip loved surfing, and loved making boards, so he is doin what he loves, so its not sad.

  • Your fans miss you more than you'll ever know Heath, we love you!

  • if you seen the movie and paid attention. real carefulyyy.. his boss is the guy he kicks out at the beggining of the movie before he gets the new wheels..thumbs up if im right. :)

  • @labankster if you paid attention real carefully, youd notice the guy in the shop at the start had an australian accent. the boss doesnt

  • @laice34 if you paid attention real carefully, i think you'll find he is spot on....

  • @labankster

you tots got that off the directors commentry LMAO

  • In the end the shop became one of those prep skater shops, completely different from how everything started. It's kind of sad actually.

  • R.I.P Heath Ledger :_(

  • what is that song?

  • @dogmaster65 maggie may by rod stewart

  • @dogmaster65 maggie may

  • @dogmaster65 maggie may by rod stewart

  • realmente es ver como todo por lo que has trabajado se aleja. es una interpretacion genial y te atrapa su papel, genial heath, genial film¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • This is a great scene from a great movie! I remember watching it and immediately reaching for the remote control to rewind and watch this scene again. Heath was great! I didn't realize it was even him til pretty far into the movie. Another interesting piece of information is that his boss that asks him about the surfboard being ready is the same guy that was ran out of the Surf Shop near the beginning of the movie. Now HE'S the boss!

  • y is this scene so amazing?

  • he looks just like brian slash hansen

  • I still have this movie til this day, this scene was so catching with everything how you see he tries to keep his spirits up even though things have gone downhill he still has the memories such a ghreat film with great actors

  • This is a really good song for this point in the movie

  • @Starsxboulevards def agree it shows a more optimistic side of skip

  • i can't believe that is dead..

  • this isn't s depressing scene guys... skip is finally getting clean,, cleaning up his life and doing what he's good at, making boards. if anything this is A very hopeful scene.

  • @legolas199 nah i think it just shows that good times wont stay the same forever.

  • @legolas199 I.. I don't really think that's what everyone's depressed about.

  • one of the best scenes from this movie :)

  • great song,great movie,great actor..

  • @BNtin0ola great dick,big dick, huge dick..

  • i love this part. :) heath is just so adorable. as always. :)

  • @UTUU94 ITS LIKE FUCKING HUGE!

  • this is this pretty much like a dramatized version of the "Dogtown and Z-boys" documentary?

  • fiberglass in the air will kill him before the cigs

    ...get a fan skip

  • @NJRocks281

the real skip is alive and his an actor or something in theaters i think

and he talk ecsactly like heath talk

  • i like this song this song best

  • I love this movie makes me kinda depressed that I quit skating.

  • it makes me happy that i quit! weird.

  • i like the song but i do not know what it is called

  • yeah what's this song called

  • i love this part when he's singing, he looks so cute! He was a great actor.

    R.I.P. Heath <333

  • James Franco Admired Heath Ledger Juss So You Know, Same With Josh Harttnet, Tom Cruise And Robert Patterson

  • i think you mean Pattinson, but yes u r correct on all of those. and idk if u know but when rob and his friend were at a comedy club and a comedian started making fun of heath ledger they actually stood up and started shouting "u suck! leave heath ledger alone! fuck you!" and i cannot even imagine that there is someone that heartless as that comedian out there...i mean thts just my opinion

  • always loved that scene, means even more now

  • i love the way he's smokin' :D

  • James Franco reminds me of heath ledger..

  • Fantastic. I can watch this one scene over and over.

  • 0:55 he drops the brush :)

  • wow i didnt even realise that was him when i first saw this, his voice changes so much in different movies

  • i just watched this movie and i rlly liked it! and i dont usually like movies like this,,heath wasnt even the main character and he completley stole the movie!! haha this is my favorite scene of the whole movie. i luv u heath!

  • a theme with him, cough Dark Knight, cough

  • @snoopval haha i know

  • a great actor singing a great song! <3

  • i think this is the only heath ledger film i havent seen,,im a HUGE HUGE fan of his and oh my gaga he looks brilliant in this!

  • The Best Movie Ever, Perfect Actors, Perfect Storyline.

  • Love this part i agree great movie and acting

  • This scene by itself is an academy award winner... just from the language this scene sends of a forgotten youth tells so much.

  • Totally agree. In this scene Heath nails the sense of lost opportunity...

  • Heath Ledger perfomance in that movie was highly praised by several critics...

    God bless you Heath

btw, if you do not own this movie, BUY IT, because its going to be a classic...

  • This scene is really really good! But soooo sad....

  • He really had an ability as an actor to kind of seduce the viewer--the viewer just got pulled into the character...made you like, and care about the character.....what I guess I'm trying to say is, he made the character to be very haunting.

To me, this scene is about how he's going to be ok. I like the way he looks at the bottle, as if to say, "Do I REALLY need you anymore?" Like he probably won't be drinking too much into the future. Like he's healing. Don't know how much of it is true, but...

  • That's what I vibed from it too.

  • @Lengsel7 shut the fuck up

  • @ninesidedstar Go fuck yourself, asshole.

  • @Lengsel7 your totally rite my friend!!! i wish i could of seen more of his amazing acting skills to come, its so fucked up that he passed away so young man..its almost 3 yrs now that hes been gone =[

  • @Lengsel7 yeah your so right

another really enticing character like that is tyler durden from fight club

skips character is certainly more emotionally touching

  • @Lengsel7 skip did stop drinking and in the end him and stacy peralta are still friends. Its not about attitude towards the guy who owned the store its about the love he had and still has for surfing.

  • @Lengsel7 Yes. So true.

  • one of my personal favorite scenes from this awesome movie. Heath, Maggie May and Lords of Dogtown...can it be any better?

  • Really makes you sad because hes showing the downfall of his character skip and he dies.

  • Comment removed

  • Skips character is declining because hes working for people in a surf shop for wannabes, it goes against everything he believes in and his Z boys are split up.

  • Yeah but he's getting on with it and coping though

  • you forgot to mention he's working for the guy who bought his shop.

  • @willpat2 I still believe he had a good idea originally: let the kids be kids and the talent will be there. Once the z-boys all began to push and want everything right now, that's when they became prey for rival companies. My dad used to have a similar problem except he was straight but all the kids around him smoked dope.

  • And by dope your talking about weed????? Weed is not dope. It's a gift from god...

  • Well it started as weed but about a year or so after this movie takes place? It turned to adding coke lacing like President Bush in Harold and Kumar. From there greedheads went one direction while the rest got treated like Rambo in First Blood.

  • wow i dont even know what your talking about anymore...this is a video of heath ledger singing along with maggie may....

  • Yeah, from the movie Lords of Dogtown. This is the climax of the film after all his protegee' were exploited by other promoters before branching out on their own. Pfft, you know I know what I'm talking about. B)-~~~

  • HERE HERE!

  • @willpat2 yea and in rl life afetr the z boys split up the surf shop closed forever it never got taken over

  • @willpat2 check my reply brah. I totally feel u man...

  • best scene in the movie. heath was so amazing. one of my fav movies of all time. makes me wish i lived back then, ya know?

  • AGREED this is my all time favorite scene of Heath

  • grande heath..

  • i always wonder why the good people die young, or good celebrities anyways.

  • God how I love this man

  • did he reallyy die =00

  • Jep ;'(

    in 2008...

  • R.I.P Heath Ledger

You'll be forever missed by many!

  • Best actor in a long long time. i love this movie too.

  • my fav scene and gereat song rest in peace heath

  • Rest in Peace Heath... this is one of my favorite scenes

  • maggie may by rod stewert

  • BornNraised, Dude u ok?

First of all show respect for Heath Ledger

    and second of ALL!!

THE SONG VID!! AND IT SHOW IN THE FKIN DESCRIPTION!

    how stupid can u be?

  • honestly

every role this guy plays is nothing like the role he played before it

    seriously

look at the variety of stuff he's done.

he's a bomb actor. i've always thought that. his death just sucked for me big time man...

  • ha have u guys noticed that the guy that owns the shop now, is the guy that they kicked out of the shop in the begining of the movie
