  • Can I touch it?

  • but will it blend?...

  • weird...but it looks like a mascara brush...LOL... cool though! =)

  • This is what the T-1000 is made of

  • can someone tell me why are they moving???

  • @Ahgwenas

    Magic.

    Just magic.

  • @Ahgwenas Search "ferrofluid" in wikipedia

  • @Gadapaj lol i konw its ferrofluid but i wanna know what causes it to move. like magnet?

  • @Ahgwenas the magnet solid pieces make the movment

  • Now you can innovate shapeshifting articles

    Liquid IPod

  • The 240p is angering the fluid.

  • Let me guess. You made it with a long magnetised screw maybe?

  • So lovely !!

  • Удивительная магнитная жидкость в безопасных бутылочках

    magnitfluid.ucoz.ru/

  • Looks like a X-mas tree! :D

  • looks like the scrin tower from command and conqer 3.

  • lòl_ÅNyõnE_wäNnÅ_chÁt_wIth_mE_I_fëÉl_sO_loñélÿ_tøÐÅý♥

  • hey guys! I am currently enrolled in an AP art course and we had to make ferrofluid sculptures for our final projects. I shot videos of the best ones and hosted them on my our website - ferrofluids.info

    Any feedback is welcome, thanks.

  • this should be the gen-y lava lamp

  • @zatarainism congratulations, sir, for you have won the internet.

  • Maybe some sugary nuts will satisfy your hunger

  • I want a huge version of this to be my christmas tree. :D

  • I want one!!

  • Where can i buy one?

  • Are the effects adjusted by changing the amount of current applied to an electromaget?

  • how do u get some of this stuff?

  • @FlamingDragonite make it... not that hard :P even though i never tried it seems reallly simple.. all u need is ink toner and vegy oil :P

  • this thing looks beautifulllllll.....

  • this is amazing i didnt know the ferrofluid its used in medicine and aricraft etc i hope they keep using this for good and not for evil -_-

  • Looks Like A Rotating Chain Saw

  • Which one of you dicks divided by zero now?

  • I wonder what happens if u punch it

  • WTF IS THIS?

  • Sarah Connor would freak out if she saw this.

  • Ok, which one of you bastards "minus'ed" my comment on buying it?

  • wow its the living t - 1000.... thats the next step.

  • the military uses ferro fluid to power top secret flying saucers, hyper dimensional free energy magnetism offset, not to mention very cool and moody art work. Nice video!!!!

  • @ashurbannipal you know to much say good by to your famly because tomarrow you will die

  • That's f*cking awesome... how much do you want for it?

  • @george77772moons hi man im selling 1 for 980$ its 90killos of wieght and includes tons of magents cost 50$ each has 20 of them

  • It's cool and all but some music would be nice...

  • it looks like a changing christmas tree+

  • it looks like a weird sex toy

  • @randomviewer896

Only in your filthy mind ;)

  • this is very crazy and cool... how much it cost and where do you buy it?

  • It's very expensive, but cheap and easy to make. Just google it.

  • it reminds me of Venm in spiderman 3 lol

  • This stuff has military potential, use magnets to have it cling to you on a vest or vehicle part, then rig it to apply a powerful magnetic charge when it detects impact then bam, you have a rock solid, jet black spiky shape saving your ass, the Russians and US are already playing with it in this way

  • I call blatant lie. Ferrofluid is just magnetite suspended in oil. I highly doubt it gets hard enough to stop a bullet, magnetite is pretty brittle stuff.

Also, let's say what you say is true, and there is a military vest with ferrofluid inside. All the enemy has to do is make a magnetic field and your soldier has very limited mobility, and is likely to be killed. This is especially possible in urban warfare.

  • correct.. it will feel like "a springy fluid" if you touch while its magnetized... hope that makes sense

  • This isn't spiky.

  • Never before have I witnessed sorcery of such a high caliber

  • @Zatarainism Rofl. I

I've never even seen an Anfibiosis Dopinio. Lol.

  • @Zatarainism jajaja lol :)

  • @Zatarainism you fucking tard. its vegtable oil with magnetite in it

  • @sugarnuts420 I said that with sarcasm but it's okay, inbred shits always make wrongful assumptions.

  • @Zatarainism no I was well aware that you were joking. however, I felt like talking shit. If you weren't such a pussy faggot bitch you could handle it.

  • @sugarnuts420 -_- I shouldn't have fed the troll.

  • @Zatarainism yep, and i'm hungry mother fucker

  • how does this works ?!?!

  • Does something happens if you touch it or it just keep going like that?

  • lol the way he does this is with a electromagnet and it draws the ferrofluid up and stimulates the iron oxide (ferro aka Fe.) using the magnetic pulse and solidifies the fluid and turns the magnet off the return the fluid into it's base state.

  • Actually, iron oxide is FeO2, which is rust. And the word you're looking for is ferrite, not ferro.

Also, the ferrofluid never changes state, and it's magnetic FLUX, not pulse.

  • how much do they cost if you can get them at all?

  • you can buy ferrofluid online. its moderately priced, comes with just the fluid itself and soemtimes a magnet. you can experiement with it if you have an electromagnet.

  • I need to get one of these

  • awesomeness

  • the next Bond villain should have a very large version of this in his private office...linked to an intruder defense mechanism of course.

  • even though it's meta and it looks sharp using it like that would really be the equivalent of attacking someone with swords made of jello.

  • @thegurukl83 Magnetic man!! He can harvest the power of magnets to control the FerroFluid!! :D

  • Just don't touch it(or let it touch you), or else you will stain your skin.

  • not realy

  • is it work on electromagnetic system? if yes can you try to connect your ipod to it? so it will move at the rithym if your song :P (i think)

  • Can someone explain to me why it takes these shapes.

  • I'm sorry, I must have been absent when you received your phd in defecation

  • the fluid is magnetic so presumably they are manipulating the magnetic field somehow ?

  • as the name of the fluid implies 'ferro fluid' means that it's a fluid with iron particles suspended in it. it takes shape when it comes into contact with magnets or electromagnetic energy similar to iron shavings on a magnet.

  • Lol, it's like a new age Lava Lamp XD

  • 뭐지??

  • i dont care what it is, i want it in my house and in my room!

  • oh i've seen one of those.

they have one in a seattle sciencey thingey where you can play with it in a little box. ite really cool but it gets kinda old after a while.

  • i love how it turns all gold colored

  • Fascinating!

  • this could make a pretty insane christmas tree

  • Are Ferrofluids safe to touch?

But, from 1:10 to 2:45, it really looks like some kind of morphin' drill.

  • yes..somewhat

if you touch it, your skin is permanently stained black until the layers of skin that are stained are pealed off

  • im gona pour dis on my friend so hes stained black =)

  • Then get one of those super strong military magnets, and pull him along. X-D

  • not a bad idea then maby the kid will give my pokemon emerald he stole last year back

  • I wonder if this could be applied to a "safer" tattoo alternative...

  • it may..although it would be less permanent and also extremely magnetic..or so i would assume....

  • I wonder how the magnetism may benifit the body as well?? Maybe it is possible that certain designs with the fluid would be beneficial to blood flow?

All in all, the prospect is worth looking into.. and I am.

  • tell me what you find..at least wat info that pertains to bodily usage of this product..im immensely curious

  • Ok, from my research, I have found that this would NOT be immediately toxic. Seems that repeated or prolonged expsposure, (especially by someone with a faulty immune system) can possibly be harmful.

But the principle of the odd benefits/attractions could be a sound theory.

The blood flow benefits of magnetism applied to the body are indeed proven. And the astehtic value is a neat thought!

  • hmm..so i ould like two or three tattoos before its toxic..SWEET>...and better blood flow..thats an added plus...and i want a tat which changes color due to magnetic zones

  • Depending on size, 2 to three, and since it would be staining, no needles! Kinda like Henna tats.

I am still looking heavily into it.

  • someone should get one of them and walk into a thumbtac factory :)

  • LOL!! what an idea!

  • i want that for christamss

ill be acupied for a few years

  • Does anybody know where is the magnet?

is it an electromagnet or just a common one?

  • maybe the metal under or maybe in the sculpture not sure

  • 1:29 ZOMG!!!

  • about a third through it just starts looking like alien technology. how sweet would it be if it was hard like metal?

  • That fluid tastes like chicken. (don't taste it kids)

  • Thank You for posting it is fascinating.

  • dont ya love ferrofluids....

all they are is bits of magnetic minerals in a solvent pretty much...with some extra stuff to stop all the magnetic bits clumping together...

oh and shadow reeves electromagnetism is 10to the power of 42 times stronger than gravity..thats how it works.

  • terminator?

  • OMG there is a 20% chance that magic could exist somewhere in space.

  • Magic exists in reality, how do you expect law of attraction works

  • tell me how they dont work with the laws of physics for you to claim it as magic

  • I agree Shadow, I don't believe in magic either since it's not "super natural" it's just parts of nature we haven't mapped fully. Most scientists reject the area completely, preventing any real research from being done without being ostracized.

  • Monkeys throw magic feces. That's how.

  • wat happens if u eat it

  • you die it highly toxic to eat if touch you ok

if it gits in your blood your dead

  • what would happen if you touched it?

  • BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! jks, probably wreck it

  • Lava lamp move aside!

  • This is the symmetry of our Universe, crazy.

  • huh?

  • Where can i buy this shit?!?! Looks fun to play with...

  • That motion could be used to propel an object through water, similar to a fish. !

  • i want to eat it

  • go go natural selection!

  • that has nothing to do with this

  • Yeah it does, if thehunjo2 ate it he'd die.

  • Does it just naturaly constantly move or is there something more to it than just a regular magnet?

  • When no magnetic field is present, ferrofluid behaves and flows like a normal liquid. However when a magnet or magnetic field is introduced, the ferrofluid is attracted to the field. Spikes then form along the magnetic field lines when the magnetic surface force exceeds the stabilizing effects of fluid weight and surface tension.

  • do they teach you this in a normal chemistry class?

  • Wikipedia teaches me many things...

  • That's where I learned about this stuff. I followed one of the links and now I'm about to buy this stuff. I love wiki. I spend so much time there XP

  • Yes, it's just oil with very small iron shavings in it (VERY small!).

So when you don't have a magnet near it, the oil takes over, and it flows. When you take a magnet, the iron in the oil wants to stay, and forms like the magnetic fields coming from the magnet :)

  • awesome fluid!

  • I love it when art and physics mix :)

  • screw painting and drawings, that is probably the best peice of art ive ever seen

  • Does my sound not work or something?

  • I know this sounds terrible but I have the impulse to knock that thing over. Yeah, my primitive side is talking.

  • i hear ya man

  • Stunning!

  • thats an alien toy...

  • how do you get one for your house? this is cooler than a lava lamp.. i would love to play trans siberian orchestra while this is going...

i definitely have to check into to this... how i can get myself one of these...

  • safer than a lava lamp too, I think you can but the liquid on ebay, it's basically crude oil with iron filings in it, you may be able to make it yourself but I don't know how easy it would be.

If you do manage to get some then use an electromagnet so that if any of the liquid sticks you can turn the magnet of and easily clean it.

  • Pwn3d teH n00bz

  • what does it cost?

  • I don't think you can buy one of these and also a 1000ml bottle of ferrofluid cost about $140 and buying a electromagnet and a control cost a TON...

  • Why didnt you say 1L instead of 1000ml? :-p In any case, a cheaper alternative is to use motor oil. It contains ferrous compounds which cause it to react in exactly the same way as ferro-fluid.

  • oh..it's amazing..

  • GIGA...

    DRILL...

    BREAKER!!! XD

  • XD TTGL FTW

  • i want some of that stuff.

  • idk what it is, but it looks cool.

  • ferro fluid

  • i need to get me some of this stuff

  • also, its a nice effect to sand a magnet and collect the magnetic dust, looks funny near a magnet too.

  • this makes you feel itchy!! its rather scary reminds me of a tim burton movie character!!ITCHY ITCHY ITCHY! Watch it and see if it makes you itchy!! yes there we go you itched your chin!!x or your arm!!!

  • Amazing..

  • Dodecahedron's are a trap. They used them to capture a soul.

It's one thing to do it in a ritual, but manifesting this for real is a bit creepy.

Sound vibrations are the key. If you can make the shape as a vibration. You take the magic carpet ride. Or you know you could make islands in the arctic with cameras just happening to be there.

The rabbit hole goes down and down forever.

Two steps forward, three steps back.

  • what the hell are you going on about?

  • really, really beautiful. so simple and abstract yet complicated and organic at the same time. truly a wonderful, inspiring piece of art.

  • so how is it moving?

  • that is on of the most beautiful things i've ever seen thanks for showing this to me

  • this stuff, ferrofluid, is just water/other fluid with soap and nano particles of magnets in it.

  • correction: nano particles of IRON in it. xD

I have seen how they make the substence. lol

  • wut? dang stubborn teachers

  • what would happen if i tossed a strong magnet near the sculpture? would it get all wonkie like the tv does? (but in a weird 3D form)

  • Brilliant work of art.

  • Translation: Arabic » English

"I do not need a psychiatrist, I need a friend. Like you. Can If you my friend?"

  • Agree!

  • agree

  • i want one!!!

  • RUN! its them termineters!

  • Terminators.

  • OH SIIIIII NENA
