And i know one other collector who had an never register RS200 whit only 6 mile in the clock! He did sell the car a way cause it was just sitting in he's garage and cannot be driven.

Today you can wring out better than 400hp and not kill the engine in half a day. But still, at 300hp this would have been a killer autocross racer and Rally car.

highly tuned race engines have high maintenance needs. If you consider that a 2liter 4cyl engine with around 300 to 400 hp has a "flame front" temperature of around 1200 degress, and the aluminium most of the engine is made from melts at around 750 degrees, you can start to see the problem. Oil bakes on to the pistons and can't cool them as well, seals start to melt, etc etc, rebuild needed!!
No doubt. Production engines don't normally push for 200hp/Liter. That has more to do with stress than melting the engine. Aluminum melts at about 1220°F or 660°C, quite manageable but great care is needed in the cooling system. Best to invest in Radiators and oil and tranny coolers up front. Then worry about getting more power out of the car. If nothing else it'll help the engine last longer.
Group B was simply stunning. The Audi engineer's quote pretty much says it all. "I asked my drivers how they managed with all the spectators, and they said they don't think of them as people, but as trees or bushes." The RS200 was also staggering. Shame it crashed and killed 3 people with more being seriously injured. One also crashed killing its co-driver and seriously injuring the driver.

the problem mainly is safety, the FIA is restricting the cars so that fatalities are reduced, as a result, motorports are slowly becoming boring. Thay are also trying to cut costs...
just look at F1 as an example. just at 2005, they have fuel hungry V10's that can propel the car at top speeds of close to 380 kph at Monza, now at 2008 & 2009, they struggle to reach 320 kph. They reduced engine from V10 to V8,thus less power. And that's just in a span within 5 years.

agreed as much as i LOVE nissan (favorite company) skylines are to fat for rally and touge. the r34 ugly as it is (in my opinion) only belongs pulling down 7-8 sec quarter miles with it monster rb26(aware that 2.6 isn't crazy big, but compared to its 2.0 and 2.5 liter brothers it top of the food chain) awd, not rally!
They are cool but dont last very long. not a very lasting engine although it is a race engine it still had a very short life even for a race engine. Even the Bmw F1 engines in the 80s that got 1200hp out of a 1.5 liter lasted longer.

agreed as much as i LOVE nissan (favorite company) skylines are to fat for rally and touge. the r34 ugly as it is (in my opinion) only belongs pulling down 7-8 sec quarter miles with it monster rb26(aware that 2.6 isn't crazy big, but compared to its 2.0 and 2.5 liter brothers it top of the food chain) awd, not rally!

An r33 GTR is to me; $20k AUD well spent. An RS200 is almost a pure fire breathing track car however. My balls are spooling.

They are cool but dont last very long. not a very lasting engine although it is a race engine it still had a very short life even for a race engine. Even the Bmw F1 engines in the 80s that got 1200hp out of a 1.5 liter lasted longer.

Remember the parameters an engine like this is working under, bit sceptical on the 10 hour rule getting thrown about anyway.

God i miss this car. I drove the focus, and focus RS..... they are horrible cars and the interior is very gay. The Fiesta is ok though. But overall the RS200 is the best 4wd car ever made. And it had 70% rear bias

70's and 80's Ford made great cars in the UK. They were all fantastic in motorsport, touring cars and rallying.
The motto was 'Race on Sunday, sell on Monday'.
If you had a Mk2 Escort, you could go into ford on monday and buy all the stuff they put on the works cars to win the rally the weekend before.
Similar for the RS (Cosworth etc) in the 80's from RS dealerships.
They made some shit they sold over the other side of the pond though :-(
