@embeleshow I think Jack Bruce is doing it on purpose. He starts clapping out of time (his hands are up when there's a clap and it's not hard to clap in time), he's sticking out his tongue when he obviously can't be singing, smiling a lot...he was that kind of guy. On the "Strange Brew" video at the Beat Club they do better as Clapton is singing and Baker's drums are more in sync. I think Bruce was too talented to screw up simple clapping! Lol.
@Mortslake That's why I love this video. Jack Bruce is clapping out of time, sticking his tongue out...hilarious. Eric looks kind of uncomfortable, Ginger's in some world with this silly smile. It doesn't seem like they're taking it very seriously. (Miming was pretty lame.) Bruce had great vocals...Cream, one of the best short-lived bands!
I love this song. This was the song that introduced me to Cream, I think I saw this same footage on some history of rock and roll show and it blew me away. The next day I owned their greatest hits, and pretty soon I owned all their albums.
Bruce is playing a Fender 6 string, which he first got during the Graham Bond days. If you listen to Bond's Live At Klook's Kleek album, you'll hear Bruce taking what at first sounds like a guitar solo on Big Boss Man - it's all in the upper register of the Fender. He also used the Fender during his time with Manfred Mann - he's very up front in the mix on the track Machines.

CloudWalkBeta 1 year ago
@CloudWalkBeta just finished e.c.s' biography . pretty interesting! cream, blind
faith and dereck and the dominoes all those bands were over by like 73.
he went from hard drugs to heavy booze when the 501or whatever album
came out. then he had nothing left to do but be a businessman.....
also read his wife Pattys' book she had a slightly different take.

Its a shame they didnt last.What a band
garywilcock84 1 year ago
That's probably dubbed, this shit JB is playing is not a bass guitar. Seriously. It's not a six stringed bass guitar, it's a regular guitar.
libernull 1 year ago
@libernull It's a Fender Bass VI.
That said they are definitely miming and I'm pretty sure that's not a Bass VI on the recording.
