  • Good movie!!!!!

  • I like the movie a lot, but honestly I preferred the graphic novel. The ending in the book is much more unexpected, and a lot of other details are better in the book storyline (like the scene where Connor goes into Sullivan's house).

  • ...In those six weeks on the road, in the winter of 1931...

  • ......putting a kind heroic face on mafia scum.....

  • @tampicokeed Godfather did the same - I stamp my approvel on this film's BD edition - Perdition that is

  • For me the most memorable scene was the kid watching the murders... somehow that stuck with me

  • very good movie. 5 stars for its genre(s)

  • @Hornet0biker God damn, when you actually think about it do you realize how shitfully retarded you are? Fuck, man, if you are a complete fucking idiot, don't show it out in the Internet.

  • Why this masterpiece didnt won oscar, and this is one if not best Tom Hanks rolls on movie ever and he didnt won oscar for it

  • This, is by far the most perfect film! And it didn't have one car chase in it or explosion, and I absolutely LOVE IT!! So excited that this director is doing the next Bond film! VERY EXCITED

  • although the movie is very sad, well done, great acting ... I am ever so happy for Michael ...! Nice ending.

  • First time ive ever seen this movie and i thought it was superb thanks :)

  • Good movie

  • One of the most gorgeously shot and scored movies of the last 30 years. This was Conrad Hall as cinematographer, who also did masterpieces like Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid. His last film, which pretty sure won him a posthumous Oscar. It is probably his best shot film. Film students: study use of light, dark and reflective surfaces running through entire film.

  • Red Dead Redemption took a few pages out of this film

  • @v0lc0msk8r87Howdy friend, I was thinking the same thing.

  • i love this movie sooo much best movie ever and im 12 lol

    i <3 tyler hoechlin

    -moemoe~

  • Thank you so much for loading it...was just outstanding.

  • watched this movie purely because tyler hoechlin was in it but man, if i had known what a fabulous movie this is i would have watched it anyway! soooo good. :) INCREDIBLE acting all around. Great plot. Perfection

  • oh my god i'm bawling my eyes out right now!! i swear this is the only movie i'll cry too. its so amazing!

  • Thats the first time i watched this movie...one of the best touching movies iv seen..thanks for the upload!!

  • The movie had an excellent blend of great music, action, and emotion. My all time Fav!

  • WONDERFUL!! ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL MOVIE!! ALL HATS OFF AND A STANDING OVATION! THIS MOVIE DEFINATELY NEEDS MORE ATTENTION, IT'S REMARKABLE! TOM HANKS WAS MADE FOR THIS!

  • so glad to hear good reviews for this fantastic movie....i hav seen this n number of times.....as my friends said it is the most underrated movie of all time.....hats off to paul newman..a gud tutorial for film making.....thriller at its best

  • A fabulous film, so underrated! Tom Hanks never disappoints, great acting.

  • What a great last line " he was my father" The music at the end is excellent as well. Saw this in the theaters when it came out-but seeing again makes me understand it so much more.

  • So rarely do you see a movie on youtube with so many great and intelligent reviews (not the just the typical..."badass" or "awesome"). As a sign of respect for this movie the cast and everyone involved in the making of this masterpiece is ask you all to go out and purchase it, I know I will. Thank you for the Upload JameKlanto, you have a new subscriber!

  • Thanks for posting. Great movie

  • Easily one of the best movies I've seen. Makes me want to go give my own dad a massive hug.

  • definitely one of my favourite films of all time, hadnt seen this in a long time, thnx man :)

  • Thanks so much for the movie man, definitely one of the most underrated movies in cinematic history. I have massive respect for those who love this movie. True classic of a movie :)

  • This is the first time I feel like swearing to say that "this is such a f*%#ing great movie"!!!

  • The cinematography in this film is some of the best stuff I've ever seen.

  • Thanks so much!

  • it was okay

  • thanks for the upload man stay chill james

  • damn i just had a tear come down my face

  • the soundtrack caries this film a lot, if the soundtrack was cut this would fall on its ass

  • holy fuk that was awesome

  • One of the best movies of the decade, and should have won the Best Picture of 2002. Why this film lost for best Original Score, Direction, and acting by both Hanks and Newman is still beyond me. A future classic and masterpiece of filmmaking.

  • I always find this ending very sad, as it always brings me to the verge of tears. Yet it's also full of hope & love. Magnificent movie, & the cinematography was indeed "incredible," sublime & unsurpassed, while the music was endearing, rather subdued & often meditative.

  • sad movie atleast they all i got revenge poor kid

  • @youngdro114 ... what the devil are you talking about?...

  • @carrotsRgood4you who knows? but he has 3x thumbs!!!!!!!!!!

  • @blackmanxz ... and that's all that matters i guess...

  • Very endearing & compelling, while full of elements both tragic & heroic. This film was indeed magnificent, movie making at its finest!

  • so is that dog just crazy and untrained/trained cuz nobody knows its name

  • Thx for the movie.

  • Thank you for uploading this movie.

    It was really beautiful.

  • 10 / 10 simply fantastic hanks was superb

  • I have watched this film many many times ove the last few years and everytime it's like seeing it new. It's more like a song you love-you never really tire of it. Pure cinema-fabulous.

  • It always pisses me off that Tom Hanks didn't finish Jude Law off while he was down....

  • @MegaFilthyMcnasty whachu talkin about? He killed Jude Law's character with one shot...

  • @fatsomamacheese sorry I wasn't more clear...I meant the first time they met, when Tom shot glass in his eye.

  • @MegaFilthyMcnasty Ooooh, i gotcha. Yeah that sucks :(

  • @MegaFilthyMcnasty

Ok, i see wut ur sayin.

  • @MegaFilthyMcnasty He died anyway.

  • @MegaFilthyMcnasty

Do u mean the opposite? That ur pissed cuz Jude didn't finish off Tom b4 Tom finally shot Jude? Becuz Tom killed Jude w/ one shot.

  • @MegaFilthyMcnasty What the hell are you on about? He killed Jude's character with a single shot.

  • tom hanks is amazing this is a greatttt movie!!!!

  • does anyone know another movie as good as this one?!!

This is the best movie ever made

  • @saudi2088 I wouldn't go that far but its a very good movie

  • @saudi2088 Shawshank Redemption, Glory and Inception.

  • thank you

  • its a real good movie

  • I've seen this movie twice before and it is one beautiful film.

  • One of the greatest films ever made... A True Masterpiece of Writing, Directing, Acting, Cinematography, Music and Editing a near perfect film...

  • i just orderd 2 copies 1 for me and 1 for my dad great movie

  • This DVD was sitting in my Mom's TV drawer for months until I watched it. It started off slow but after halfway, the story just got better.

    A long movie..but a damn good story.

  • thank you so much Mr. Klanton

  • Great movie, thought it wouldn't be good because I couldn't picture Tom Hanks doing a mafia movie but it was much more than that, thanks again.

  • I just can't comprehend why neither Sam Mendes nor Tom Hanks were nominated...

  • @elatlover

Same reason Gran Torino got snubbed...

Hollywood doesn't care about great acting or music or writing..

  • Unfortunately one of the most underrated movies of this decade.

  • Brilliant film. Exceptional soundtrack as well.

  • such a powerful ending. one of my favorites.

  • that was a really quiete but intense movie(phtography, acting, score, every detail seen on screen) Didn't see it in the theatre because I like the graphic novel(slightly different ending + worth reading as well) and was sceptical bec. of Tom Hanks.....

Well, I missed a lot and have to admit I was a fool!

  • What a great damm movie, including all of the of the songs in this film, 4 people who don't like this movie, BEWARE of the Tommy Gun!!!

  • One of the most hands down beautiful scores ever created by the wonderful Thomas Newman, genius. and most heart wrenching endings i've ever seen captured and put on screen in my life. pure beauty. love it forever ;) and thnk u so much JamesKlanto for uploading this amazing movie, seriously.

  • great film.

  • maravillosa película, maravillosa banda sonora, maravillosos interpretes, una verdadera obra de arte de lo mejor que se ha hecho en cine.

  • Great Picture

Some things that Michael says in the end: "That was the last time I ever held a gun." and "People always thought I grew up on a farm and in a way I guess I did" suggest him to be grown up and reminiscing but the voice is still the same as the young 12 years old Michael. However I am guessing that the voice of a grown up Michael would have sounded unfamiliar and less heartfelt. Also Sullivan kept his tommy gun in a case very similar to the one the kid carries in the final scene!

  • beautiful

  • 3 ppl dont know what a real movie is

  • @cuevas559 Make that 5 people!

  • @dan11mmn01 What an absorbing film; it was almost like being back in 1931 with the characters. This is one of my favorite gangster films and in my top five list. Key Largo would be my next choice. I don't believe that superb computer enhancements are mandatory for a film to be great. The music in The Road to Perdition takes the prize.

  • great film, i remember i saw it in theatres and loved it, thanks for teh upload

  • You know you've seen an amazing film, when it takes a cliche concept and still manages to absorb you through delivery. There wasn't many surprises, but the actors/characters and their development are what shine. The only unfortunate thing is the fact that i like many others had never heard of this film beforehand.

P.S. the crazier thing is the fact that this was based off a graphic novel.

  • Probably 1 of the saddest endings I've seen in a while, but beautiful.

    Also the music is amazing.

  • *crying*

  • Love The Model A's

  • 1:35 He was my Father makes me want to respect my father even more than i do now and cherish every short but fulfilling conversation i share with him

  • thank!

  • I loved this movie when I saw it for the first time and I still love it today. IMHO this movie is an epic masterpiece.

btw: the soundtrack is a fuckin masterpiece too.

  • @smellincoffee: not true; Peter Sullivan(real name: Liam Aiken) played Klaus Baudelaire

  • Just realized that Michael Jr. is Klaus Baudelaire...

  • Epic movie and this song, the title track to the movie, is gorgeous!!!!

  • epic cinematography by conrad hall

  • did this shit win 12 academy awards? it better have.

  • such poignancy. I cannot help but be moved by this final scene. Thomas Newman's score is sorrowful and hopeful at the same time. 1:10 is just heartbreaking. a true symphony for the soul.

  • That was gripping, no sooner had I started part 1, i needed to click on part 2! Phwoah, amazing film.

  • Really is an exellent movie, very touching.

  • And how this kid (Liam Aiken) stole the show...

  • No matter how often I watch it, this movie is still so fine, compelling and touching.

  • What a geat movie...sadly underrated...yet imho one for the movie history books.

  • that .....that was amazing!

  • Last time he ever held a gun? Was this kid a draft dodger or something, cuz im pretty sure world war two was in about 8-9years

  • @andro89 But the recommended age was 26 in the US, so he wouldnt have been old enough.

  • @TaZ101SAGA Not sure what you mean by "recommended age"? If he was 12 years old in 1931, as the movie states, that would have made him 22 or 23 at the time of Pearl Harbor, prime draft age. 26 was the AVERAGE age of a US combat soldier in World War II, but when the draft began in the days after Pearl Harbor, all males between the ages of 18 and 49 were ordered to report to their local recruiting stations.

  • @Salguine

Michael Jr. becomes a priest and as such does not serve in the military. As new movie, a sequel to this one called "Road to Purgatory" is being written right now and will be directed by the author of the graphic novel, as well as a third movie called "Road to Paradise".

  • appreciate the considerate cuts Klanto, I remember watching Lawrence of Arabia here and the OP slice one of the greatest film cut in history into to pieces. I actually never knew the cut existed until I saw it on TV years later.

  • @kingcaesar5 Likewise, I noticed the tasteful splicing. So double thumbs up for the upload and also the form the upload took.

  • A great movie, Tom Hanks and Paul Newman were great as always! thank you for uploading!

  • a well uploaded movie, thank you.

Personally I think this is one of Tom Hanks better movies. It was a decent storyline, a well directed movie with quality actors/actresses.

I was a bit underwhelmed with some of the obvious holes in the story but that is to be expected I suppose.

And my own personal feelings on the matter were that Jude Laws character was a sneaky cowardly little sadistic prick. I would think that anyone finding his character appealing seek professional help ASAP.

  • wow. what an incredible movie. thanks for uploading!

  • So, I don't get it. Did Jude Law kill his aunt? I didn't see her body anywhere.

  • Loved the ending, when Michael went to go live with the old couple. They couldn`t have thought of a better ending.

  • what a terrific movie, cinematography was incredible

  • glasglow- agreed, this movie is underrated.

  • If you thought Jude Law was the best, then I understand why you didn't get the movie. Yeesh!

  • am i supposed to be offended?

    cause i'm far from it.

  • Its a good film thaks for uploading it. I enjoyed it and thought it was good dont get e wrong but I dont know why every one thinks it was the best film they ever saw. I think I must be missing some thing. It was good though, good actors great acting, good cinematogaphy, it was just a great film not as good as every one makes out though. No one will agree with me but I dont mind.

  • Thanks for posting this movie.

  • Wonderful movie on many levels. Thanks for posting.

  • This ending is sad. Great last line "He was my father".

Id probably want this music played at my father's funeral when that day comes. No wishing that to happen anytime soon.

But the story, acting, the music score and cinematography I liked most.

Conrad Hall won an Oscar for Best Cinematography.

  • @slantyrock yeah this film won an oscar! :D

  • fantastic directing, if this did not win an oscar i'd be suprised, the oscars usually go to complete and utter shite these days.

  • one of the best movies ever. i love all the actors, they are all amazing, and it's such an a amazing story line. such a sad ending though.

  • amazing stuff! they do not make movies like this anymore...

  • He could have worked in a support role, technician, supplies and the like.

  • Great movie sad ending, loved it will watch it again.

  • Great film!

  • Reminds me of my Dad

  • @greenalien1

  • Made me cry too... in fact.. every time it makes me cry. you notice something new every time.

the most beautiful movie even though it was underrated. it deserved top ranks in everything!

Actors are amazing, music is amazing, plot is amazing, director is amazing. A flawless movie!!!

  • it must be very hard for young Michael to lose all of his family

  • Just brilliant, thank you so much for posting this.

Brought me a huge step closer to my Father. :-)

  • I really enjoyed this movie, the cast did a great job with their roles..

  • PERFECT ENDING

  • this movie made me go hug my dad

  • I decided to write something in the end. First and foremost Lets give a round of Applause to everyone in the cast. This was I believe Paul Newman's last movie role and he went out with a BANG. Tom Hanks had this mellow persona about him that made me believe he was the good guy throughout the movie which is very odd :/....Jude Law did a Fantastic Job I mean shit!! wat a underated movie..Ppl need to open there eyes more.

  • @freedomland11

    and what about Hoechlin?

  • he was amazing in this. hes very good at acting without words. His 7th heaven role after this runied his career. Hes amazing and i think he deserves much better.

  • Conrad L. Hall's last movie too! he was a screen ledgend. and they shall never be forgotten. The cinematography is so beautiful. I love this movie!!! it inspires me so much. and now i want to be in a movie.

  • @freedomland11 The film press at the time spun some spin on it that it excluded females i.e. wouldn't appeal to them i.e. didn't meet the p.c. quota/requirement i.e. it was just an ... OK movie.

  • Great movie, thanks for posting.

  • "When people ask me if Michael Sullivan was a good man or if there was just no good in him at all, i always give the same answer,i just tell them he was my father." what a powerful line!!! Extremely sad but a perfect ending!

  • *cry*

  • fantastic movie...but also very sad:(even made me cry...awesome story

  • one of my favorite movies definitely top 5

  • Wow, I really didn't expect that film to be so good. I mean the start was boring and all but once things started moving it was pretty good.

  • awesome movie

  • Great, great movie!

  • great movie

  • I thought it was going to be boring to start with but damn that was a fine film. Thanks!

  • great movie better a lot of overrated gangsta movies like donnie brasco

  • Nice job by Tom Hanks and all the principal players. Hanks' tone and vocal cadences reminded me of William Holden, particularly through the early part of the movie. For me there is not much higher compliment than that.

  • best movie ever

  • Comment removed

  • great movie ★★★★★

thanks for uploading! great quality too =)

  • I love how his dad protected him from having to kill anyone. He wanted his son to not do the evil things he did and have a chance at being a good man, unblemished because he loved him. Also I love that he never held a gun again.

  • "When people ask me if Michael Sullivan was a good man or if there was just no good in him at all, i always give the same answer,i just tell them he was my father." what a powerful line!!! Extremely sad but a perfect ending!

  • FUCKING GOD.

I wish it didn't end this way honestly, I'm really depressed right now

  • IT WAS aN ALL tIMER

  • Wow!! that was amazing, thank you so much for posting, that had me in tears.

  • i havnt seen this film in a long time ... what a film

  • I Have Songs From Here On My iPod I Have The Main Theme I Have Grave Drive And I Have Road To Chicago And Putting More On It.

  • The score on this movie was a good one. Lots of emotion in it. who is the composer(s)?
