Growing up in Taipei, I used to hate those sounds. Funerary rites are one of the worst aspect of Chinese tradition. The deceased family force the whole world to witness their mourning by disturbing the entire neighborhood, not only with loud and annoying sounds, but with parades and displays that block the alleys and streets. It is totally selfish and uncivilized.
