they are but it depends whatever system you want to buy it for

PSX version has EXTREMELY slow load times... snes version is essentially the same as PSX version.. without the load times :D get the SNES version

I also haven't never played Chrono Trigger either although I have watch a walkthrough of it. What amazes me about Chrono Trigger is the music is so totally masterful and tough but great gameplay for such game long time ago.
