Whoop-de-do. You kicked your brother once. Any punch, on the chin, can cause a "knockout". It can be a straight punch, also. It has nothing to do with nerve bundles in your jaw, it has to do with leverage. Your chin protrudes away from the brain, and acts like a handle on your head. If you land one on the chin, it doesn't have to be very hard to cause problems. Blows that land directly on the brain area have to be a lot harder, to have any effect. Listen to a boxer, not a point karate guy.

@epicfailz47 throat, nose or groin, are good places to strike, but its best to lead with a jab then follow up almost instantly with your good hand to hit one of those spots then runaway if thats what your intent is (good choice you never know if they have a weapon or something) but the best thing would be to take jujitsu, its a great way to end a fight and you dont necessarily have to hurt some to do it

A blow to the temple can cause damage to the middle meningeal artery, which supplies the brain with blood. This can lead to epidural hemorrhage, which is a build-up of blood over the brain, causing brain compression and eventual death if it is not evacuated.

Also, if the artery were to rupture, the person could have a massive stroke, which can be lethal.

There's a nerve in the jaw if hit will floor someone no doubt about it. Infact hitting someone with an open jaw will very likely break it as was a favourite technique employed by the Kray twins in their early days.

You do, the body over time builds up a layer of fat (not bad fats) in their bodies so they withstand the impact. That's why you don't see a lot of young martial artists look fat and noob, only middle aged and elder martial artists.

A great punch to knock someone out is the uppercut. When the uppercut hits the opponent under the chin, it slams his head back. Besides jarring the brain, this whiplash effect triggers the nerves in spine as the skull slams back and down into them. That can cause an immediate knockout.
