  • Looks very good! Love the old GMs, had a 87 Caprice a few years ago.

  • Thats in excellent shape for a 81!; with what seems to be unbelievably low kilos for a 81!; i dont blame ya for not driving it during the winter to say the least! cool! :)

  • are you from bc?

  • You've got to learn on RWD's in the snow!!! Nice car though.

  • I was going to drive my 77 Parisienne in 2 years until it had to many problems at 220000km so I will have to settle with the 2001 Dodge Ram SLT Laramie

  • i love old pontiac cars i might know where to get my self one that one is mint take good care of it

  • you bet!

  • 4:34

Ugh, that is the only thing I hate about those big old rear wheel drive cars, that slippage on icy roads, but other than that I like the ride. Nice car, man, take care of it!

  • haha yeah they are useless in the winter. But i don't want to drive it in the winter anyway, not worth it with the salt and crap on the road.

  • Awesome car bro, truly awesome car.

  • dude u should make an update video and a walkaround of the car.

    that would be awesome

  • Look at trans fluid on the dip stick... should be more red in color. If it's black/brown.. it needs change bad.

  • yeah its red like new. so it should be fine then? Cause granny never drove the thing hardly. yet had it serviced spring and fall

  • Ask family if it was ever changed. Most people don't change it. With 166,000 miles, it would have been dark color. If it's a nice red color, you should be ok. Check when hot for full.

  • granny is knows for organization and records. She is known as the white tornato cause you put something down and its gone before you can turn around to pick it up! and still at 87! But to my point, she had detailed records of all maintenance with a hand made database of records right back to when she bought it. turns out last time it was changed was october 15, 1999 and it was at 152235 k. thats only like 15 thousand ago, so it should be fine, right?

  • If it was changed at 152, you should be good and not worrry about it. Just check level hot few times a year. (running) Most shops use the flush system. It has good points, but I prefer to change the filter by taking the pan off. My way there will be left over old-er oil in the torque converter. The flush type takes care of that ,but the pan is not removed to change the filter. Flushing normaly washes out most junk.

  • Just baby it , when cold until it warms up.

  • sounds good! Thanks. Now what about my 1987 pontiac 6000? (i have a video of it) it has 100,000k and i have no records of when it was done

  • they are lightweight cars. If the fluid looks NOT like new or has a burn smell.. change it. Im sure the internet can find details on how to change it. Or a chilton manual you can find on ebay for that car. Most cars don't get trans oil change until the first 100k. With new oil, you are getting in some new/replacement addatives in the new oil that brake down in the old oil. I say high mile cars about 40k change. Other people may say 50-60k

  • ok thanks man!! apreciate it!

  • i have a 81 same car but mine is tan they r nice yours is amazing mine should have top replaced but paint is gd

  • how do u like the top? mine doesnt have one and im happy without the maintenance.

  • dont forget to change the trans fluid/filter. I have a 80 with about 222,000mi 301v8.

  • how often should i change the trans fluid?

  • Depending on use. Normal about every 50,000 miles. Higher miles+city drive=, maybe more often. Probaby has a th350 but maybe metric 250. Check pan shape. Filter set about $8 and about 3-5 quarts of mercon 3 oil. Don't over fill, and dont' run too low. Check running when warm too. Don't over tighten pan bolts. A shop can flush the system but they charge alot. I don't care for flushing a filter out without changing it. Though, you do get more new fluid in the torque converter.

  • It looks brand new!

  • How did you get that great car?

  • it was my grandmas

  • Most beautiful!

  • That is the most beautiful Pontiac man...saweeeet!

  • thanks! acually thank my gramma:)

  • Looks Like June 1st in sudbury ontario

  • I had one with a 307 in it,worst engines ever made!!!

  • why is that?

  • had nothing but problems with it I had 2 cars with the 307 in no luck with them

  • hardly, it's an extremely durable engine! not the best performer, but it does the job nicely ;)

  • well I have always had trouble with them, but that don't mean everyone else does, guess it depends on how the engine was taken care of before you buy it

  • Yes very true. I think a lot of these cars were neglected over the years. People get lazy with cars sometimes and don't want to do the basic stuff. I mean you change the oil regularly and that solves a ton of problems right there!

  • hey I change my oil every 2700 ,iles I have a 90olds98 with 210,000 miles doesnt use a drop of oil

  • @wil

    90 olds?

fuel injection baby high five lol

but who doesnt love good old carbs

  • Nice! That engine sounds so smooth!

  • You should of posted the video of my un-restored 1958 chevrolet biscayne when we ran out of gas you have that video dont you????

  • yes! i will do tonight!

  • it's not called chevy motor it's called a GM motor and smoke the tires lol

  • during the 80's, each division still had individual V6's and V8's. Sharing started after the diesel fiasco and of course when they neared bankruptcy.

  • Omg v8 5.0L engine has 150hp.... It's useless :/

  • yeah but not as bad as the very underpowered 4.3 V6 that they put in those cars aswell.

  • i hate when people call these cars "old grandpa cars" because there not they have a v-8 and with the right parts they could make serious power

  • yeah, but still... its my 86 year old grandmothers. lol

  • All old people cars have v8's...But not all cars with v8's are fast...80's 305 v8's stuggled to make 180hp. And most of that was lost to gearing.

  • yeah power lost to gearing ,my 85 parisienne has a 305 4 barrel and 2;41 gears ,at least it has a 4 speed overdrive with a super low first gear

  • Love those cars despite poor traction in some. You have a great car there, keep it started, keep it running!

  • LOL MINE HAS A 383 stroker

  • how much hp does it have? does it have a 307 5.0L V8?

  • not to sure. its stock. 180??? anyone know? its a 305, yeah.

  • 140 hp

  • Yeah, the 307 has 140hp. It was pathetic. I have an '87 Custom Cruiser.

  • I'm pretty sure it's a 305. It looks different from my 307.

A stock 305 from this year would have 150 hp, I think.

  • is that with or without the 4bbl carb

  • That's with a 4bbl. I think a 2bbl from roughly that era would put out maybe 130 hp.

It isn't so bad, though. I've got a 4bbl Oldsmobile 307 that puts out 140 hp. She gets me everywhere, if slowly.

The 305 and 307 were utilitarian engines, anyway. Those who wanted upgrades were better off with the respective Chevy and Olds 350's.

  • man that thing is not loving the snow trying to get traction

  • lol yeah, they're horrible for traction. an empty pickup is better.

  • What a beautiful car, i have always wanted a parisienne, but unfortunately here in the US they are very very hard to find, and the ones still surviving end up the the hands of ungrateful teenagers, that run then to the ground, or in the hands of those that put huge rims and spinners on them, Sad indeed

  • Ohhh wow dude...that car is awesome!!!!!!!! I love the classic cars... i have an 1967 Chevy Belair. whats it like up there in Canada?

  • Well, it's a beautiful car. Continue to take great care of it.

  • What an awesome car, driving in the snow looks hard!

  • nice clean pontiac

  • bad driver

  • ahh veyr reliable car. nice vid. im waiting for a battery for my buick but when i get it, iil def post a vid of the start up . hasnt strate in 5 years so it should ve intertsing

  • K means thousand... but nice video.

  • k= kilometers in canada, in the us, you have to almost double that figure

  • Why was the car garaged so long? Did your grandmother stop driving it? If so, why?

  • Gas prices

  • Hi DUde, have you cranked up the pontiac lately? I was browsing Youtube and came back across the vid of your winter start.

  • yeah man. gunna take it to some car shows soon

  • hey dude can i pimp out that car for u, i can make it look really awesome and give it a really fast engine, n alot more

  • hell yeah

  • next time its cold out be sure to pee on the battery...the dump hot water on it, then pee on the starter

  • lol and that does what?

  • Warms it up LOL...that was only meant to be funny tho...would never do such a thing for real..

  • lol no kiddin

  • i wish my dad let me keep my caprice in his garage....I have an 88 and its sad that I have actually noticed surface rust develop all over the frame..because when i got it, it was in great shape...Eventually, I'll take my car to work and spray it down and try to clean up the rust and try to garage it from then on. But damn for a 27 year old car, your car looks mint...I wish my car was garaged. Before i bought my 88, i went to look at a 1980, and that car was also garaged its entire life...no rust

  • i use to have one, as my first car given to me by a friend, ran great for 2 months then it just quit running so now just sits in storage.

  • what happeened?

  • It's not on YouTube yet. My folks don't really get into putting vids on the net like that, but enjoy watching them when they have a chance. THe thing that got me hooked on YOuTube was seeing very very old closing credits from Sesame Street, the way I remember it ending as a child. Then, I got hooked on pedal pumping, especially the models. I can't see it, but just hearing their expressions. I love the revving vids best just to hear the roar of the v8.

  • Wow, Very strong car. Was that just another battery you hooked it to? Also did you have to prime it at all before you started it?(Give it a few pumps?) I'm interested in this car, mainly this engine. Its a very common engine and a very good engine. If you ever post anymore videos of this besides the ones you have. Let me know! Very interested.

    ~Richard

  • subscribe, incase i forget. its another batter i had lying around. thats still a slow crank for that car. I give it 4 pumps before i start it. give it none, cranks forever

  • I have a screen reader that will read to me all the text coming on the screen. It allows me to surf the net and do all the things that computer users do as far as writing and enjoying music, as well as other productive means. It's called Window-Eyes. It uses synthesized speech to read out the input. That's how I keep in touch with the world around me. YOu ought to hear my dad's 1993 chevy silverado. It has straight pipes and reminds me of his old impala in a way. V8's rock.

  • is it on youtube?

  • Hey kiddo, nice ride. It's in great shape, hang on to it. Reminds me of my first caprice. Flip the air filter cover and post some WOT vids : )

  • wide open throddle?

  • My dad had a 1969 chevy impala when I was a child growing up. It had a 327 with 350 heads. That was a running machine. In later years the manifold got a small leak and gave it a racecar type sound. I had a bad habit of revving it up just to hear its sound. Mother drove a 1978 monte carlo with a 305 in it for 7 years. That was a tough old car too. hat's where I get my love for older cars, especially v8 engines and their sound. If I could see I'd want a car with straight pipes. Take care.

  • they sure are nice. How do you manage so well with computers?

  • i have the same car with a 97 corvette motor dropped in it. very nice car keep it garaged

  • Awesome you really know your stuff

  • Hey Man, that car sounds like it has been well cared for. Can't see it because I'm totally blind, but once you got the newer battery in, just hearing the ease of starting and the smooth sound of the engine is what I'm basing that on. That's amazing how good it still sounds after 27 years of service. Has theengine been rebuilt or is tha orginal? Just curions. HOpe you get many years out of it.

  • Hey, its all origional. Actually, all i did was boost from another old battery i had lying around in the basement. Thats also a slow crank, compared to usual. The starter cranks like new. Its only been driven by my grandmother, who is now 86 and only occasoinally drives it in the summer. I am 15, and getting into that car next year. Can't wait. Wish you could see the pristine body! Thanks for the intrest.

  • Wonderfull video. Great car. Looking forward to seeing more videos of it.
