  • Very interesting. As a fading tweener, whose body is showing the ravages of age, I find the Darkstar a blessing and a curse. I'm capable of creating acreage of area thanks to its design, but for the same reason, I have had 3 weeks in a row with at least one game with 5 splits, either flush shots from missing right or 2-10 combos from missing left. I understand it's a technique crisis, but I've never had this type of result from any other equipment. Maybe I just don't understand the equipment

  • Godly release

  • i want this ball!!!

  • okay what drilings would you suggest for the dark star for medium rev bowler who only see sport conditions

  • Recommending layouts is almost impossible without knowing your game However you can use stronger layouts with the Dark Star and it will still not hook early. I have one drilled 75x5x35 and it is too angular for what I like to see The one in my video is my favorite and it is the stronger layout or the ones I have.

To get all the shots onto a video just use some video editing software. Sony Vegas is what Matt has been using I believe to do these videos The length markers are just overlays.

  • how do you get all your shots onto one video and what program are you using that is telling you the length on the lanes?

  • Thanks Jimmy for the fast reply! Great job on the video and it really shows what these great pieces from Roto Grip are capable of!!! Please keep posting and I tell people that come in my shop to watch as many quality videos that they can to get more of an idea of what the ball can do!!!

  • Jimmy! Great job showing the difference between these ball and how versatile the Dark Star is! You really roll the ball well and that drill pattern works great for you!! Awesome videos and love the marker to show the distance! Do you have the Riot video? Thanks, Bruce

  • @batbowler Thank you for the kind words. Yes we have a video for the Riot.. It should be in the list under Mattyg3535, he does my videos. As far as the layout it is by far the most controlled layout I have used, I probably don't use it as should. lol

  • I have a question directed towards Jimmy. I noticed that all of his test balls are drilled without grips. I currently throw my stuff with oval grips, but i was interested in trying a ball without them. What benefits can be derived from this kind of fit? How much of his fingers does Jimmy put into his finger holes for a normal shot? Lastly, how much bevel does he use?

    PS- The videos are outstanding.

  • @br00talp00p I haven't been using grips because I use less grip pressure with out them. It is more of a feel thing, I don't use a lot of bevel due to the fact that it also keeps me from squeezing at the ball. As far as finger depth it is the same as "almost" everyone uses, to the first joint. It is a good thing to try if you have never tried it before.

  • very nice video great camera work

  • Great vids off the new shield line balls !!

Jimmy throws it like a beast !

I want to be sponsored by Roto since the oracle vision =p (just started bowling then)

  • If you think all balls look the same on these videos... take a look at the ball position @ 39' then 50'. The Dark Star is all most at the same board then hits the pocket because of it's "Angular" motion. Watch our Riot video and you will see that the ball moves a few boards left after it exits the break point @ 39'. This is a "Continuous" curving ball. That is why I have included the markers for you. Hope you like? Did you like the "ghost ball" shot on the first angle? Tied something new.
