I couldn't disagree more with you. The author of the series is very diabolical, and has a unique way of capturing young girls. She makes a bland female lead character which the your girls who read it can identify with and put themselves into. She then crafts the perfect man for them, so when the two start to date, the young women reading it believe that they are dating the most perfect man ever. It is so wrong on so many different levels, and slaps American literature in the face.

Besides, it doesn't change the fact that the author is using a very cheap hook to attract a large fanbase of young teenage girls. Besides, you can't pick and choose what a novel should be compared to. If I wrote a horrible novel, it would still look good in comparison to childrens books, but that doesn't mean that it is what people would reference for comparison.
