well thats stupid i mean of course ushio's death is sadder think about it he met nagisa they lived together then she dies he leaves ushio with parents in law and acts like a moron, just as he comes to from his melancholy and realizes he needs to be there for ushio she then dies but the reason ushio dieing is sadder is because nagisa was what probably 20-30 yrs old meanwhile ushio was only 5 ish yrs old any child dieing is a sad thing :(

I hate/loved this anime they got you to love the characters and then killed them. I felt so sad when nagisa died and yahoo died. It felt like they were real. Then they end the show with what if tomoya and kyou got together f that. They should have ended with everyone alive and happy.

you see this on the news all the time, a young child dies from an illness, but you dont think much of it cause you never knew their life, just the fact that they had died so young, with clannad and afterstory.. watching Nagisa die before she could hold Ushio after her birth felt like losing your own wife and then watching Ushio die in Tomoya's arms, it felt like it was your own child who dies in your arms, u grew on Ushio and her happy life. One of the most powerful animes ever, and most tragic

@Theblackspy12 Ushio had the same condition as Nagisa. They don't even know what illness it is, it has no cures. They both just suffer fevers and have weak bodies. And Ushio had a fever before she went out, so I guess the cold just made it worse so she died!

I loved Nagisa from episode one. When Nagisa died, I honestly hated Ushio for killing her. The emotions I felt were so raw and so real even though why they were felt was fictional. But after the scene in the field with Tomoya and Ushio, I fell in love with her just as I did with Nagisa. Then THIS happens. I swear I cursed the creators of this show a thousand times over... "Daddy, I love you..." Makes me cry to this day... Still the best damn show ever made.

The maker of these stories is so... UGH! Air was the first anime to make me cry (seeing that they killed off the most innocent characters) and I hadn't seen the after story to this so I was all "Omg, this person can make a happy ending!" But no, just no. They had to kill off Nagisa AND the daughter. Tomoya really didn't deserve this...

On a side note so you understand. You know how it really dangerous if a baby gets sick, because there immune system is not developed very much. Well Im guess but i guess just like her mother she dose not have a strong immune system. Let me know if this helped.

Ushio's mother died at sickness when Ushio was about to be born. (I think) when Tomoya (the dad) learns that Ushio won't last long, he goes to the sunflower fields with Ushio because that is her only wish after she dies. But, because Ushio was too weak, Ushio dies in the street, leaving Tomoya who lost everything he desired.

I advice you to watch Clannad. It's really a heart-breaking story with a happy end.
